Guy Fawkes was not the instigator of this Gunpowder Plot & he did not act on it alone. There were five conspirators, of which Guy Fawkes was a following member, a "soldier" if you will? Did anybody catch the name of the "General" of this crusading group?

And King James was on 17 December 1566 James was baptised in a Catholic ceremony held at Stirling Castle but brought up as a Protestant so history is not as clear cut as one thinks.

Guy Fawkes was actually fighting to install James' daughter Elizabeth as a Catholic queen under the thrall of Philip III of Spain, making England in essence a vassal state of the Spanish Empire, so not exactly what i would call a freedom fighter, and im glad he was caught and killed along with all the rest of the plotters :)

i am disappointed that no one has really questioned this as much much as i do. why do we celebrate him? are we celebrating the failure of his attempt, or are we celebrating the attempt. If we are celebrating the attempt, why would be we, it was an act of terrorism that was going to kill many innocent people. We don't celebrate 9/11 do we? the only people who would be fit to celebrate such a holiday are anarchists.
