If VH1 ever does another rendition of Behind The Music, Wilson Phillips needs to get on there. They've been through a lot together--from dysfunctional parents (Beach Boys/Mamas & Papas) and their drug problems/abuse, Carnie's weight problems, and Chynna's departure from the group, and the emotional comeback.
@coolsweetgroovy Of course he is hon, and after 19 years he still look the same? *laughs shaking his head* gotta love people with a huge imagination hehe.
My boyfriend said about working in the vid that Wendy was great but that he wished that he could have worked with her, Carnie, and Chynna because to him the look doesn't matter
Wendy has a soft delicate beautiful voice. You don't always have to have pig power vocals to sing well. I prefer Wendy's voice and she is gorgeous. Ugh just love her!!!
in this video i would have changed one little thing , for the sexy guy in the waistcoat to go up to carnie, and take her by the hand and turn the whole thing on its head because bigger girls are just as nice as a size 8
@wizzwamf The sexy guy is my boyfriend he told me about working on the vid that he enjoyed working with Wendy, but that he wished he could have gotten to work with all 3(Wendy, Carnie, and Chynna) because to him the look doesn't matter
This song takes me back to memory lane to when I was 19 going on 20 years old when this song came out in the Summer of 1992. Too bad it didn't stay on the radio for long, it seemed to have bit the dust after only being a hit for about 3 weeks.
Let's Check You Girls out and Leave a Comment!...but which one are you! I love your work for US back then as perhaps, Her Imperial Majesty...The Bride!...mirror mirror on the fm stereo wall...it looks like it says, in compliment, in your personality yes!..(All Good People!..now THAT's a comment: Your Move.)
You should have been around in the 70's - now that was a time for music. Having said that, your right in saying the noughties was dam boring for music
@shelivade91 You know I think you are right about the 2000's being similar to the 80's. It was a very superficial decade and had a lot of pop music but so does this decade right? I'm so sick of mostly everything right now except for the improved technology anyhow I basically aliened myself from most of today's media.
@RussX5Z I think the 2000's was more superficial and less intelligent than the 80's and by a long shot. I was born in 89 but from what I hear people in the 80's generally talked about money, music, and cars. In the 2000's all they talked about is money and clothes, especially the women.
@RussX5Z As for the 10's, it hasn't really started yet. One thing I've always noticed about decades is that they don't neatly resemble social trends. Something that was popular in the later part of one decade usually lasts into the early part of the next one. Like the boybands, they stayed popular until 9/11. And since there was no Nirvana (thank god) or terrorist attacks like 9/11, the 10's will probably start next year.
@RussX5Z In 2011 it seems like black culture is gradually dying, white feminist women are still powerful, and gay people have taken control of the media passed down by the white feminist women. Still regardless of what changes are made, it's going to suck and it's going to be superficial.
I love wilson phillips....but i would love for one of my faves in country who tend to sound a bit like these ladies, to remake this....I think SheDaisy would give this justice and make Wilson Phillips proud
I disagree. SheDaisy are'nt even in the same league as Wilson Phillips. Don't get me wrong SheDaisy is good, but their not that good. I mean, theirs a reason their never nominated for Vocal Group of the Year at the ACM'S or CMA'S.Granted they have'nt had any new music out in awhile, but even when they do have music out their not nominated.
I disagree about Wendy not having the voice to pull off some of the vocals. I like this and Impulsive best of their stuff because it's not Chyna being thrust in our faces, not that she's not good herself but all three are good in their own way.
I love love love Wilson Phillips and all 3 of them, but to be honest, whenever they want to make a vocal impact, they shouldn't have Wendy sing the leads, because vocally she's not as strong as Chynna, especially when Wendy sings the leads in live performances. But I still love Wendy though.
I love Wendy's leads! Her voice is the perfect fit for this song, too. And actually I recall them singing this on Leno. Chynna was actually a bit sour that night. Wendy pulled off the live lead very well. It was obviously live, but she sounded a lot like she did on the recording.
I always felt bad for Carnie during this time. The focus was always on Chynna and Wendy. Carnie is just as gorgeous as her sister, but was often over looked because she wasn't thin.
Wilson Phillips was the end of the real MTV generation. Once grunge hit in 1992, these kinds of feel good songs got replaced with depressing anti-music.Just like when Punk killed disco! I miss those times soooooo much!
Wendy put it down in this song!! i was so proud of her, i always loved her, they were on the right track with their first album, i truely thought they'd be around forever, but their 2nd album was a mess. it didnt even sound like their style, tho this is a good song, it really isnt their style, this sounds like Amy Grants "every heartbeat".
Saw the video after a long time. Came out when I was 17 and frash in college. Brought back memories of friends especially Shakeel whose tape i borrowed to copy the song.
Love Wilson Phillips. I have an Idea if anyone is working on a Wilson phillips biopic I got a casting idea for them Kari Matchett as Chynna Shanae Grimes as Wendy and Ricki Lake as Carnie.
*sigh* brings back memories, I was 16 when this came out in the summer of 92'. I miss the music of the late 80's & early 90's. They played this song alot on the radio were I lived. it's awesome how by this time they showed Carnie & didn't try to 'hide' her. That's how it was for Ann Wilson of Heart in the music video's. Dumb produces & directors! love how Carnie says 'oh god' in that one part. I wonder if it was meant or it was an outtake they left in. :=)
You know what? I use to really love Wendy and think she's the prettiest. But as I'm watching this video again, Chynna isn't too bad either! Damn I can decide which one I want! :) They're both beautiful in their own ways. And of course they all have talent.
This is such a fantastic song - my favorite on the album. It's too bad that whoever their stylist was for the lead single You Won't See Me Cry made them over into sex kittens. The Girl Next Door image was thrown out the window - which was a huge reason i think that they were so popular initially. Had this type of fun video been released first, i think history might have change a bit for Chyna, Wendy and Carnie. Regardless...this is a fun, lively, and spirited video for a fantastic pop song!
This is a great song and the video had much potential. Its too bad that they hired sketchy actors to play love interests of these lovely ladies. They deserved better than the cheeseballs hired to do the love interest.
My favorite is Carnie! Shes a great person and performer, and she looked gorgeous after her weight loss! She doesnt look THAT bad in these videos either! Love the song
Wendy Wilson is the standard that I've measured other women against. That height, that hair, that skin. The bronzed-ones remind me of peasants and field-workers, tall women have legs that go on forever, and nothing beats the fiery-passion of an angry redhead!!! (I've the scars to prove it!)
but yeah wendy's got 4 boys - it may sound weird but it's kind of a good thing wendy dont got a girl cuz she'd eventually be unfairly compared to her mother, which would be a losing battle...
normally daughters of true beauties dont compare to their moms (ex. grace kelly)... u only c wendy's caliber a once in a lifetime (shedding a tear)
I remember this song when it came out. I agree that it never received the recognition that it should have. These three have wonderful voices and they look like they are having so much fun!
Hey, Thanks for Posting! I worked on this Video--"The Guy" bringing the Girls the Birthday Cake. They were all very nice and it was a great time. Best...Fredo
This was one of Wilson Phillip's best....just a major shame that it couldn't hit the top 10!!! I would love to hear someone like SheDaisy remake this!
This was probably one of their most underrated songs, and one of the only happy sounding ones that came out of Shadows and Light. Granted that it was anachronistic, it didn't have much success.
It's ironic that shortly after they recorded this, they all 'gave up' on Wilson Phillips and went in their own directions. Hmm.
