  • you really suck...better give blow jobs for a living

  • Sounds good.

  • @LandOfMutants I hope you are being sarcastic. Because wah, reverb/delay, fuzz etc. mean you have no talent, tell that to Hendrix.

  • That distortion sucks balls, but the clean sounds amazing!

  • sigmtput un gemboot palgomat

  • @nicero870 if ur refering to the beutiful sounds made by the likes of hendrix as noise then i think u need to reassess ur musical priorities

  • it sounds just because of your fender

  • This amp is a one trick pony, but what a trick. I want one :-)

    Great demo - Thanks

  • This amp sounds great ( if you're into making actual music with a guitar ). If you're into making "sounds" with an effects laden, insanely overdriven amp ( which really requires little or no musical ability ) look elsewhere. The latter must be the preference of the "mom's-basement-dwelling" circus clowns leaving all these negative comments.

    Nice review!

  • dog shit sound ! x 10

  • amp wanna buy three of these amps and mod em their so sweet!!

  • @63drawoh 1. Rude. 2. He didn't title this video "I'm f-ing awesome at guitar" and 3. He didn't ask you to watch this. I happen to think he's leagues better than me and most players on YouTube. Even if he did suck at guitar my reaction would be "Oh, at least I got to hear the amp. Thanks for your time, Sir."

  • @TheRealRayJ 1- lol 2-lol 3 - lol

  • @63drawoh go ahead and post a reply that's a video of you playing better (not shite sweep picking either), instead of going round youtube putting people down for their playing. retard

  • @Juicefani11 the gretsch is pretty bad, I had it for about two weeks before I took it back (mucisiansfriend) and another great choice is the bugera BC15 which is only 110 dollars right now on musiciansfriend, so I would say, forget the V5 bugera, and go with either the champ 600 or the bugera bc15 (I own them both, they are both fantastic, but the bugera BC15 is higher wattage, making it easier to hear in bigger rooms an what not)

  • am I the only one that is disgusted by barefoot guitar/amp/effect demos?

  • @brw0044 yes

  • @brw0044 and the shit playing...

  • @63drawoh it's funny, most people who complain about other peoples "shit" playing on youtube have no videos of themselves playing at all... and by the looks of it you are no exception. what a surprise...

  • That is an awesome sound and you're a talented guitarist.

    Nice.

  • Hi everyone! Should i buy a Fender Champion 600, or a Peavey Rage 258? TELL ME!!! MAYBE TODAY!!! :D

  • @Juicefani11 buy the champion! its tube goodness is amazing, and then theres that super low wattage bugera combo thats either $150 or $200

  • @TheFunnyzach I should buy it on tuesday then... Also, there's an interesting Gretsch Electromatic 5watt tube amp, and it's interesting too. What do you say for that?

  • im so glad this sounds so good cuz im broke as hell, and to be honest i like i dont need to buy something to keep the tubes from rattling

  • Nice to hear a little Greg Loiacono riff in a youtube amp demo.

  • oh dear... beautiful legs!

  • LOL it will go to 11.

  • @hagtar12 It actually goes to 12!!!! haha

  • Stinky bare feet motherfucker.

  • naaancy

  • Grat tone, great video, thanks for posting that!

  • is this high gain input?

  • is there a headphone jack on it?

  • Nice playing and nice sound. What are you using to record this video? I've been struggling to record a video without overwhelming the sound card. Fail so far.

  • the champion is really a great amp, even with dobro!

50 or 100 watt driven with the volume knob on 2 or 3?? the tubes of those powerful amps will sound bleah!!

With this amp you could ear the TRUE and pleasant sound of the hard-driven tube(s) (only a 6V6 in the final stage!)

  • so is this amp better than the Vox AC4TV? or is the vox better?

  • @RONCHECHE they totally sound different. i've played both and own a champ, but i'm thinking of picking up the ac4 for the different circuit, tone control, and 1W mode. to be honest it's impossible to get the champ to break up in an apartment, that's why i'm looking at a the ac4 (since it has the 1/4 watt and 1 watt). champ is a great amp though and if you can play it in a home it has an awesome tone and overdrive :) it also sounds great with overdrive and fuzz pedals through it.

  • campagnuol mittet e scarp

  • Good Play! Nice and Slow ;) How did you get it? Any video tutorial, or link "How to play" on PW? PS. Sorry for my English :)

  • sounds like reverb is in mix??

  • no not at all...

  • I have one too, great amp. Your playing is fantastic, Great vid man, I love the snapper !!!

  • That's sooo B.B King :D

  • does it got a overdrive channel instead of using the volume?

  • nope - only one channel, but a high and a low gain input

  • do you got it in hi gain input?

  • lol

  • wow, so nice played ! thumbs up man! :D

  • Thanks. I tested one out at a local Fender dealer also after watching your video and decided to get one. Your video got me interested based on the sound. Thanks again.

  • can you plug this into a cab?

  • Yep. I run mine through an old Fender 4x12 cab. Great for dirty blues...

  • does it make it alot louder?

  • Loud enough for a small gig and jammin' but hey, it's a 5 watt amp! :p

If you look up "champ 600 cab" on youtube the first video should be of a guy playing it through a 4x12 cab.

  • @almostsk8er01 shure you can!

  • @almostsk8er01 yes you can.

  • @almostsk8er01 probably but its only 5 watts so you wouldent want it plugged into a 412 or anything haha

  • @almostsk8er01

Yes you can. It even powers a 4x12 cabinet easily!

  • @almostsk8er01 yup, the internal speaker can be disconnected for use with larger cabs.

  • @almostsk8er01 There is a 1/4" cable inside the amp.. you can plug that into an external speaker... But I would suggest just micing if you wanna keep that nice crystal clean tone at louder volumes. maybe use an Shure sm57 mic

  • @almostsk8er01 no, but it does go to 11 :)

  • @almostsk8er01 You can, you can disconnect the speaker inside and hook it up into another amp.

  • love that amp!

  • sweet sounding amp you've got there! Awful pedal though

  • I just uploaded a vid of this amp powering a 4x12 for those interested. Hope it helps with any questions you may have....

  • can u make this louder with a cabinet?

  • Yeah.... Bought This amp today. When we got it home my brother and I plugged it into my mesa boogie 4x12....

Wow...... What a tone, was so warm, quite a bit louder and anded some sweet bottom end... Hope that helps...

  • is the champion 600 loud enough to use with the band if hooked up to a cabinet?

  • Sounds nice

  • i wanted to ask if i could play with this amp with a small drumkit and a piano

  • Comment removed

  • I loved the amp's break up ... but not the pedal... maybe just a booster like microamp would be great there!

  • does this amp have a line out?

  • Did you reply to disagree with me? Because so far you have only repeated what I was saying. My point is that a mic or instrument input is rated for no more than 12 milliwatts of push. A speaker output sends infinitely more than that, and the first gain stage from said input will be fried beyond repair, and you'll be left with a dead piece of medium density fiberboard with a marshall logo on the front. Then what are you gonna do?

  • Don't try plugging a speaker output in to your amplifier's instrument input. You will burn out your amp. If the champ 600 had a line level output, then you could plug it in to another amp, but if an output is actually strong enough to drive a speaker, then it is also strong enough to fry every last capacitor on the circuit board of whatever amp it's plugged into. Never mistake a combo amp for an external cab. I'm telling you it's dangerous. There's always another way.

  • ROKY ERICKSON GIGS WITH THESE THINGS

  • so it is what I try to recognize on vids... this how I ened up here...you think rocky might be usinf some modes or something?

  • I just bought this amp yesterday. Holy cow it is an amazing tone. I also bought the new Boss Fender Deluxe Reverb and Bassman pedals to go with the amp and you can dial in so many tones with that makeup. I have a Fender Classic Players Series 50's strat to round out a nice vintage setup

  • AWESOME COMMENT

  • why?

  • are you an artic monkey

  • Eh?

  • Do you know to play life in the fast lane by the eagles if so play it on that setup

  • ah cheers guys, one more thing quickly. does plugging in a cabinet speaker to this, ie Marshall 4 X12, make it LOUDER or just more dynamic tonaly at the same volume?

  • Yes. If you connect an external cab, or alternatively any amplifier via the Champs extension output, then it will use the power amp of the outside source hence louder volume.

For example, I could plug it into my Marshall combo and have 150 watts available as opposed to 5. Sweet, plus you have the great fender tone.

You are literally using the champ as a amp 'head' as is the case with a jcm800 etc

  • Not exactly. If an ap in plugged in to another amp, it's going to increase the power. But if you plug it in to a speaker cab, it only increases the amount of speaker cone being driven by the amp. In other words, if I plug a marshal cabinet in, I am driving 5 watts total through the cab and the internal speaker combined. If I plug a combo amp's in put to the extension speaker output of this amp, I am using it as a preamp, not a head. That's actually dangerous for a como, though.......

  • this could be a very dangerous post, potentially, as there's a lot of confused misinformation.

do NOT plug one amp into another directly, UNLESS it is from an effects send or preamp out.

  • don't plug the champ in to anything unless it has a bridgeable power section.

    which is rarer than dinosaurs.

  • roughly, how many watts of solid state is this the 5 watts the equivilant of?

  • 5 watts is 5 watts

  • yea but 30 watts valve amp is much louder than a 30 watt solid state

  • If you crank it to eleven and the power amp starts distorting it will be dissipating more than the 30 watts it says on the box. People don't mind about clipping tube power amps for several reasons but hate it when it's on transistor power amps. But doing that on either will make you go deaf anyway.

  • @inricheetos And your point is?

  • Im suprised with how well the amp sounds, but im not much on that overdrive. And im sure if were to mic it would hold up in a club, even my little 5 watt tube holds out pretty well, and when u run em that hard you get an authntic tube overdrive.

  • Could this hold out over drums?

  • I really don't think so, maybe if you mic'd, maybe

  • E3tiger:

I have tried this amp on full with a Ibanez TS9 overdrive that had the level on full, and it was audible over them, but just barely. I'm not sure it could compete with another guitar and bass thrown in.

It still has very nice tones though. :)

  • youre a positive one arent ya?!

I hope someone treats you like a 'nigger' someday so you know whats it like ya wank.

  • happily :) I gotta say it feels damn good since your ol lady said you couldn't cut it in the sack, so I had to show her how its done.

  • ok, so ur 14 yrs old. u sure told me!

  • can it out volume a drum kit, or connect to a cabinet?

  • yeah, its got a speaker output for cabs.

  • Made in China?

  • you stupid fuck.. I guarantee you 90% of what you own is made in china, and the rest is fucking made in mexico. and when I last looked around my place, it was working fine. it's people like you who kidney punch the minds of the better half of society.

  • Wow nice explosion asshole. Time to take a break from the internet and get some fresh air.

  • "Wow nice explosion ..."

HA ! yeah good advice lucybrown1 "Cohagen Let the people have AIR"

  • put on some shoes

  • Nice axe, i was playing a nashville tele through a champ 600 and traded it for a peavey valve king royal 8! The peavey kicked it's ass, which I was very sad about b/c I am a fender man. You should get a tube screamer ts7. Nice playin!

  • the pedal sux but the amp is the best study-amp money can buy.

  • *sigh* its an amp...listen to it. good review

  • i really like that OD pedal ive never heard of it though. where can i get one?

  • Great tone. Nice playing, BTW.

  • This Amp is the best small valve amp ever: 1 control, who need more? Yeah you rock!

  • That amp sounds like it'd be perfect for recording...I plan on buying it one day.

Also, you got some great licks goin' in this demo.

To add another thing, that's one beautiful Tele...mixes perfectly with that amp.

  • You rock, man.

    Great tone, great phrases.

  • I wonder how Duncan's Twin Drive will Push that Little Amp...I think I will Order a Champion and find out! Doc

  • Didi you use the high or the low input on the Champ in this vid ?

  • That guitar is f7cking unreal. So much of the tone is coming from that,,but the amp is tight. It's too bad it doesn't break-up a little bit nastier. I suppose re-biasing could fix that, if one were so inclined. Great demo.

  • I have a 74 Fender Jaguar and i'm thinking of buying this amp because of the tubes, but then again why did you changed the tubes? is the sound so much different? and would it be a nice amp for a jaguar?

  • This is a great little amp for a Jaguar. I changed the tubes because the stock tube was poor quality. Yes, the tube swap makes a difference.

  • what kind of tubes?

  • upgraded to RCA Blackplate 6V6

  • Thanks

  • very nice guitar. i have a tele as well but i am looking for a good amp to buy that goes with it and is gig capable. is this good for gigs?

  • No...you will want something louder than this for gigs.

  • however if u dont have money, you can mic this amp... it has a great tone

  • great demo man.....

  • I own one, very nice with the tele! it seems to work better with single coils.

  • Hi thinskiner; Ive got a 600 too but sounds different, have you change the tubes? Bye

  • Yes, the tubes were changed to an RCA blackplate and NOS 12ax7. However, I think it is probably the pickups of the 52 Tele that make it sound so different.

  • I have the same amp and all my guitars sound different through it so don't worry about that. In fact, I have tried 3 different strats with different pickups and they all sounded different. TS is right. The pickups make a big different...especially between single coils and humbuckers. It's a fun amp to have kicking around. Works great with overdrive pedals.

  • i just bought one a couple day's ago and overdrive is not to my taste, but and that's a big but,you set it to bout 7 and put a digi rp-150 in front and it turns into a monster....one of the best sounds i ever heard....i can't quit playig it

  • nice video! i liked the cleans alot w/ single coils when i played this amp the other day.. the amp distortion was terrible, maybe with a overdrive pedal it'd be usable. volume wise it's very quiet, about 1/3 the perceived volume of the vintage champ next to it imo, basically talking volume which is nice for a dorm ect.

  • Nice! I just bought my Fender Champ 600 yesterday, and it's sweet as hell, especially with single coils.

  • Ive played little amps here and there :) most sound like crap :) nasty! the Champion 600 made me go wow! such a great warm clean sound for a tiny thing :) I use my tubescreamer for overdrive :) they go very nice together :) my Les Paul sounds great in it as well :) I have seymour Duncan pickups, no problems, its very warm and bluesy :) oh yeah! forgot, I bought mine with both tubes replaced with electro Harmonix, maybe that has helped make my humbuckers sound great?

  • if only it had a 10" or even 8" speaker it would have been a real champion

  • You can plug this amp into a big cab :) you don't have to use the 6 inch speaker, that makes this amp extra special for having that option :) very cool thinking by Fender, I love the Champion 600, it produces very warm sounds, great for blues, vintage stuff

  • How? I didn't see how to run it through a bigger speaker when I tried it out in the guitar store today...

  • it has an internal speaker jack that allows the use of a larger speaker cabinet :) look on the Fender site for more info, its a very cool feature to have :) I must say its alot easier to unscrew the back panel to reconnect to a cab, its only 4 screws to undo. the jack connection is to the right-top handside in the back, its tucked away neatly

  • Internal speaker jack? Cool. Thanks for the info...

  • 8" it has

  • Its speaker is a 6 inch :)

  • @Hepnotic I disagree. These are fine amps as they are, and you are aware "real" champions were not all in 8 ot 20 inch congis , right?. However, there are options for this amp in the aftermarket. You can mod the circuit, and also move the internals to a larger cab for use of a larger diameter speaker. They have been readily available specifically for the champion 600 for quite some time now. In any case, it's about what's good to your ears...

  • Hi there! Great sound, honestly! I didn't think before that the small Champ would sound that good.

I'm thinking about getting it if the Blues Jr. is too loud for playing at home. So what do you think? Will I be able to get a good sound out the Blues Jr. at home without annoying the neighbours? Or should I get the Champion 600 for the moment?

  • I have a 600 and I've had a blue jr. They are different sounding amps. Both are good for apartment playing. You'de have to try both and decide for yourself as opinions often differ. Try before you buy. The 600 sounds just as you hear it on this post.

  • The problem is that I'm not sure what'll be better for me, 'cause I still haven't bought the Strat I'm going to use with it. And in my local shop don't have the Blues Jr. I wanna play things like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Blue Oyster Cult... The price or the size aren't a problem, I can get any of both.

  • I wish there was a simple answer to guitar tone. You should try, if you can, go outside your area to other music shops just so you have some selection. There is a world of difference between low and high wattage amps and between Fenders and Marshalls. Good Luck.

  • The Blues Jr will be a more verasatile amp, therefore a better choice for a player still finding their sound. The Jr's Master Volume lets you get preamp tube distortion at low volumes. The Jr also has reverb. Jr has a "Fat" switch and bass, mid, treble tone stack. The Jr is also loud enough to jam with drums & bass unmiced, but will need to be miced for gigging out.

  • yeah, but the JR also has a solid state rectifier. solid states are tone killers.

  • Do you even know what a rectifier does?

It converts AC to DC, it has nothing to do with the sound.

  • all the components of the amp effect the sound. the tubes, the transistors, the speaker, the cabinet, the wiring, everything. thats why authentic all tube amps never sound the same. the charecter differs between the amps.

  • If you're saying the rectifier has a marked effect on the sound you might as well say the handle on the tops affects the sound. WHATS THIS? THE VOLUME KNOB IS PLASTIC? HOW WILL I GET MY TUBE TONES NOW?

Everything affects the sound, but having a solid state recitifer is doing next to nothing to sound, I've seen an AC30 with a home made rectifier in it made out of neccessity, it didn't any less great. Stop tone-questing and nit-picking and use your ears.

  • handles? now you're just being ridiculous. all the ELECTRONIC components play a role in the sound. and it's not nit picking. i find a difference, you don't. to each his own.

  • both the twin amp and the twin reverb have solid state rectifiers, and they are some of the most renown tube amps in the music industry, depending upon genre, only the way upper end hand-wired amps are the ones with tube rectifiers.

  • nah, dude. the twin amp uses tubes in the rectifier but the twin reverb uses a SS rectifier. meh, to each his own. personally, solid state devices in amps i find are tone killers. but the bassman, champ, deluxe reverb, super reverb, vibroverb, JTM45, and the bluesbreaker all had tube rectifiers. and to me, those are the best sounding amps in history.

  • Have you ever heard the same amp but one with a tube rectifier, and the other with a SS? I agree that a tube rectifier will make a little difference, but when have something like that, not really very reliable.

  • the deluxe reverb and the twin reverb are practically the same amp, only the wattage and speaker configuration vary.

  • ummmmm... that makes a big difference in sound.

  • yes i know, but we were talking about the solid-state rectifiers vs tube rectifiers; and if the deluxe reverb has a tube rectifier then the twin should have one as well...

  • It should, but it doesn't. thats why they sound different.

  • btw what tube amp would you choose in a $1300 price range....

I play blues, classic rock, jazz, some funk and i have an epiphone les paul and a fender USA strat....

I was thinking on getting the twin reverb with a nice tube distortion pedal or a fender supersonic....etc.

    Any ideas?

  • oooohhhh get a vox ac30! its AMAZING for jazz. it was a nice rainy day today so i found the perfect tone and played a whole lotta swing'n blues. As far as classic rock, if pared with output pickups or a nice fuzz, its perfect for zeppelin. middle position high output strat, great stevie ray vaughn. i dont play much funk, so try it out for that. I have the half stack with vox speakers (couldnt afford alnico blues). but you can get the 2x12 combo or halfstack for 1300k, last time i checked

  • hey, thanks for the quick response!

i have tried the vox ac30 and i loved it!

paired with a USA tele from the music store,

the tube-driven tremolo and reverb are sweet!

the only thing that holds me back is the fact that many people say that the quality is not the same due to the fact that it's made in china, while the fender twin is made in USA...
