  • Bob, Ive got some graphic vids on spiders in my aussie house on my channel. look up 'big spiders invade my house!'.

  • @durianriders - I'll check them out!

    Bob

  • I LOVE the music Bob!!

Keep up the good work mate I really enjoy your vids and work in general.

This vid made my day man. Such a beautiful, majestic spider. I caught another adult white tail last night that's now in my terrerium along with the male I put in a month ago. They're both BIG and I'm hoping they'll start breeding and not kill eachother lol

  • @Goatbaggage - Glad you liked the music "Alley Cat" I thought it was fun...some others hated it! Oh well, to each his own! LOL Your White Tail spiders are Austrailia's version of our Northern Brown Recluse spider both can pack a nasty bite with a greater strength vemon than most spiders. The wound area, which I'm sure you know, can also turn into a very dangerous area for infection and flesh decay. HANDLE WITH CARE!

Have a great day down under!

    Bob

  • what a great video! she is beautiful!

  • @element1111sb - Thanks so much! She was a special spider; I enjoyed my time with her and have not found one from this species near my home in MIchigan since this filming. Hope to finsd another one someday! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

    Bob

  • 6:26 he wants to give u a hug for your great effort filming him :)

  • @Blazingwheel - That's too funny! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, Bob

  • If you have a jumper in your house and need to get it outside.... please don't use a wad of toilet paper to crush. That tiny creature has advanced intellect similar to that of a cat. Much more than the Mars rovers. Normally you wouldn't kill a cat or scrap a Mars rover.

Get a houseplant leaf or blade of grass. The jumper will recognize it as a safe place and jump to it. Then put him/her outside where they should be.

  • @gavincurtis - Thanks for watching and for the great comment Gavin! If anyone has electronic interest, gavincurtis has an awesome repair and help channel with excellent instructional videos available..check it out sometime!

    Bob

  • Big eyes with sophisticated optics and the over-sized brain make for a most wonderful spider! A spider ever that is really curious about who you are. Never got a bite from a jumping spider. Fun to watch them watch you.

Never kill a jumping spider, they are harmless. Put them outside if found in your home, they have intelligence nearing that of a cat.

  • how often are jumping spiders supposed to eat? i have one. it was eating okay for a while (like two bugs one day, then nothing, then bugs another day, then nothing). it hasn't eaten for two days now. though its active and curious and likes exploring usually. sometimes the guy will sit there for a while.

i dont think he has a hiding place though. is that what he needs? is he stressed?

  • @strawberryShaker420 - Don't worry about them, they will eat when they are hungry. If they are not hungry they will either ignore any prey or posibly even toy with it! They can have a great appitite one day, and then show no interest in food for two or three days. If they are in a pre-molt condition they will most likely refuse to eat at all until after the event. If put in a jar, they will make a web nest to sleep in at night. They like to nest at the top of the jar.

    Bob

  • I blinked as soon as I read don't blink XD

  • @evilazulan - That's funny, LOL! Thanks for watching and have a great day!

    Bob

  • do you think jumpers ever cross breed? a giant putnami/audax would be so cool to see. i know they'd prob eat each other most likely, still how do they not crossbreed? there are so many variations of jumpers its absurd

  • @strawberryShaker420 -p No, the "jumpers" do not cross breed. The males pedipalp, that is inserted into the female to deliver his sperm is like a key and the females sexual organs are like a lock...the key only fits the lock on the correct species; wrong key, can't get in!

    Bob

  • It's a platycryptus undatus :P I looked this up a while ago lolz :D caught one on my grandmas porch last year and named it grandpa because it looked like it had a beard XD

  • @MetalHeadHeather - Thanks for the name, I figured that out later after the vid was posted! Take care,

    Bob

  • And - they are really small, so it is kind of hard to find out for me.

  • My parents are thinking I am insane because I love these spiders. I have 3 of them now in my room, but I don't know what kind they are - and if they are female, male... Argh, I would really like to know that!

  • I am so scared of spiders...but I have to admit this one is very cute! I stumbled upon your videos by accident and they are very entertaining and informative. Maybe they can help me get over my arachnophobia!

  • @JelliclesForever - Hi Emma, thanks for watching some of my vids on spiders. I have heard from many folks who have a lessened fear of spiders after having watched several of my interaction with these fanscinating arachnids. Possible you too, can be a bit desensitised of some of your fears. I watched your latest vid on your channel thought it intertesting! Take care,

    Bob

  • Bob,

I am moving up to Michigan and kicking you out of your house in the hopes that I find one of these little cuties!

Just kidding, but now I'll definitely have to plan a trip up there (I'm all the way across the country!) some day because jumping spiders are my favorite. They're funny--they look so timid, yet curious, and they're tiny--but amazing spiders. I would love to study them some day, but they don't live where I am now.

Thanks for the video--she's adorable, love the bug eyes. :)

  • @mrslimbeck - Haha, youv'e been watching more than one of my spider vids! Enjoyed your comment. If you ever get to Western MI. look me up and I'll take you on a spider hunt. The jumpers are most definately my favorites, and for some of the same reasons you mention. Have a great weekend!

    Bob

  • Bizarrely enough it does have a similar face to a spider monkey.

It's a cute little thing as far as spiders go. But I'm sure when it looks at the camera, all it's thinking is, "I wanna eat your face."

  • @stufaman - Hey, thanks for leaving a comment! Actually, she was quite friendly and I held her often. She seemed to be very interested in the camera and myself. She would stop what she was doing several times to look up and watch me with curiousity and then finally lose interest and go back to her business of being a spider! LOL... Take care, Bob

  • @BobCsAll Cheers sir. I gotto admit, it seems jumping spiders are the most aware of their species. Their about the only breed I know that will actually aknowledge you. Others even taratulas don't seem to care what we are.

  • Great video. My 7 yr old daughter & I do a line-type dance, we came up with, to it.

Her comment is that this spider is very creepy aaaaa

  • @jzwillows - Hi, just tell your little girl, that this is a little girl jumping spider and she wouldn't hurt a fly...hmm, I take that back, but she certainly wouldn't hurt a little girl! But in all honesty, most girls, including my wife, hate spiders! Take care, and happy dancing dad!!!!

    Bob

    Bob

  • @BobCs Bob It was a very nice surprise to hear from you. Sarah (7) says to tell you she’s not scared of the spider anymore. Actually her older brothers who like jumping spiders used complain that she was a spider killer because she would hold the tiny ones (18” long) in her hand as they did but they often died. David, 9, got bit by a tiny one, ending his holding them. The boys insisted I stop spraying inside with ant spray when they saw a big jumping spider die from it-yea we like them inside.

  • @BobCsAll

Bob, Again, great video. Hey we hadn't seen any big or small jumping spiders aroud the house or yard for the last couple of years. Before that they were everywhere, even in the house - we welcomed these guests, even put up with not spraying ants to ensure the spiders were'nt affected. Then two days ago one turned up on the kitchen counter where it ikes to stay! It made my day. It has the key to the house! I put it in our hot pepper plant where ants like to go. Do they eat ants?

    John

  • @jzwillows - Hi John, thanks for leaving a comment. Jumping spiders, for the most part will turn their noses up to ants. I believe they don't taste good, and may contain a natural acidic. Their is one jumping spider, that is an "ant mimicer" that will chase, look like, and eat ants. The others won't. My guess is yours will ignore ants!

    Take care,

    Bob

  • @BobCsAll Bob, thanks. Now i'd better find the spider & bring it back to the kitchen where it chose to be in the first place & where it was "happy".

  • I have this same species videoed also. The one in your video is a female. The males have a bit more color on their face with this species of jumpers.

  • @Torn80cj - Hi, enjoyed your channel and vids of the tornandos! I would love to do that myself, but not too much action in Mich.! Thanks for the tip on the female spider, I found that out later and added it to the description. How did you happen upon my channel of spiders? Take care,

    Bob

  • @BobCsAll I looked up Jumping Spiders on YouTube to see if anyone else was filming close-ups on them. I found you and also another guy who goes by the user name Terser. I really loved yours and his vids and how much you both love these little spiders. The jumper I filmed I found in my apartment. She's in hybrination right now. I titled the video "Worlds Cutest Jumping Spider." I got that "monkey face" really good with my camcorder.

  • @Torn80cj - Hey, glad you found me! Terser (Thomas) and I are good freinds! He does awesome close up photography of spiders and insects as well. A few of the Phidippus audaxs I have are hybernating as well and some have chosen to stay awake and eat me out of house and home!

    Bob

  • This is awesome Bob :D

  • @metkan - Thanks, and I watched your vid on jumping spiders diary which was very nicely done as well! Two thumbs up!

    Bob

  • @BobCsAll Thank you very much Bob :D

  • i have a lot in my garden

    the bite is dangerous???

some kind of jumping spiders are dangerous??????

  • @kike2d - Hi in the United States, the jumpingspider is NOT dangerous, as well as in most countries. However a person could be alergic to a spider's venom and that could be a serious issue requiring medical help!

    Bob

  • @BobCsAll Thank you.

I feel more relaxed knowing that they are not dangerous

  • @kike2d - Good, now you can enjoy them even more! That really is a cool spider if the ones you are seeing are in fact from the Platycryptus family of spiders. Take care,

    Bob

  • What are your feelings about introducing spiders into the home. I kind-of wish I hadn't taken that Bold Jumping Spider out to the garden. I could have taken her to one of the back rooms where I have books and whatnot where pests like to hide. I may have Wolf Spiders in the house, so that might be just as good? Watching your videos has helped my arachnophobia a lot, btw. I guess my fear has been from not knowing what is dangerous or a pest.

  • He really looks like a squirrel monkey. So cute!

  • wow whats the cutest spider you have came accross Bob oh and most unussual great vidio 5 stars

  • Hi "goog", lets see cutest, it would have to be this one, or a teeny tiny jumper which you can see in the vid, called "littlest jumper". Most unusual, or one I would have lved to see is a bright red, cardinal jumper. See vid called Macro Video of a Male Phidippus Apacheanus, by terser. Thanks for the comments! Bob

  • hope you find some

  • oh that neat have you seen more monkey face spiders around

  • She's the only one like thisI have found.. Hope to see more like it if lucky!

    Bob

  • arent funnel spiders dangouers

  • There are many types of "funnel" weaving spiders. The ones I have around my house are the common grass funnel weavers, or the ones that build a horizontal web in the corners of houses that are nor sticky but thick and end in a funnel open at both ends to allow the spider to escape. There is a "funnel" spider that does have a venom that can cause quite a nasty bite!

    Bob

  • I used to have tarantulas, but jumping spiders are way more interesting. They actually seem to be checking things out and be a lot more lively than tarantulas. Of course, tarantulas are practically blind, so it's no wonder they don't actually "look" around. But I don't want to capture animals from the wild, so I just watch jumping spiders on Youtube or on my yard :)

  • The down side to the jumpers is their life span; usually 1 or two seasons where T's have a lengthier life. Still, I would agree, much more interactional!

    Bob

  • what kind of spiders do you have a your house (outside)

  • Mostly jumping spiders and Araneus (common garden spider) and grass spiders or funnel spiders.

    Bob

  • oh well !

    at least shes free

  • well let me tell you good vid quality and nice music by the way cool spider? did you keep it

    your lucy

  • Thanks for the comment; no I let her go so she might find a mate!

    Bob

  • wow your really good at making vids

  • Thanks for your comment, you're too kind; not sure how "good" I am, but I do have fun!

    Bob

  • What an great Vid! I truly enjoyed watching this. Thx for sharing! :-)

  • Thank you for watching it, and thanks for your kind comment! Bob

  • I got a female of one just like that as a freebie 3 days ago! I'll post a video when I get the chance. BTW Bob, I also got a bunch of Phidippus audax as freebies too with my container purchase. They'll beauties!

  • Kawaii, you got freebies? A company gave spiders away with a container purchase? I'll watch for your video. Bob

  • Yeah. I have a video of her up now. Sorry no music. YouTube doesn't really offer any real good ones. . . she has trouble climbing plastic it seems..

  • My platy passed away just this morning. Think it was too cold. Poor dear.. :-(

  • Fantastic video! Makes me think I should try little introductions like you!

I was just about to post to say she's an adult female Platycryptus undatus - but it looks like Wayne got to you before I did!

Wayne is my go-to guy when I get stumped on a spider.

  • That is so cool man, definitely see the monkey face!
