  • THIS VIDEO ISNT FROM THE 70'S YOU MORON its from a video clip of the 10 roller coasters in the U.S., bc i have the vhs tape .

it has Mean Streak, Magnum 200, Drachen Fire,Big Bad Wolf (which is/was part of the Bat @KI,)Texas Giant,Beast, Steel Phantom,(and the other rc @ kennywood) and Viper,Beast and Batman the Ride....so if you look at this video again that is VORTEX not the BAT, in this video

  • this vid is from the 70s you can still see the bat where the vortex is now, they run her faster than this vid shows and this vid is going slower than it says it is

  • this is more like a train ride...worlds longest wooden coaster my ass. around every corner is a 1/4 mile straightaway...how exciting

  • it dont look that scary

  • LOL you can hear a crazy guy screaming YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! as they enter the tunnel i cant stop laughing

  • I wish I were actually on it.

  • This looks like my local sky train ride......it's so flat.....

  • Theres a rumor that they tor it down.

  • @ProductionsLand No honey! Just rode it today and I ride it every summer! Beast is not going anywhere!

  • @ProductionsLand no they are talking about tearing down the son of the best, a different coaster in kingsisland

  • worlds biggest wodden coaster rode it yesterday

  • If you have never been to kings island!GO! its in cincinnati, ohio and it is the best place ever

  • I LOVE Thunderhead at Dollywood, and I thk it is better than this. I guess it's because Thunderhead does a whole lot more crazy turns and drops. But this was fun! :D

  • i think ill make the 5 minute trip to KI, i live in mason!

  • This year my friends and I will be all over Kings Island all season long, so if youre going up the first hill and hear a guy sing Not Afraid, you know were there :D

  • Rode that last year. looks muuuuuuch better with trees fully grown in

  • @sporkninja69 But its at best when youre on it in the night after the fireworks :D

  • This ride was intense to say the least. I had larangitas for 3 days after riding it over 10 years ago. I will never forget it and hope to go back again someday. Nice video.

  • What year was this filmed?

  • the ride is 4 minutes long. 3 of those minutes are going up the first hill xD

  • I have been riding this coaster since it opened, w/o check brakes, in front back etc. I LOVE wooden coasters! I NEVER understood the accolades it got other than it was big and long. NO DROPS almost, not a single steep move! It is fast but so is the Lexington Avenue Express! a huge Ho-hum!!! I will admit BEAST helped spawn a renewed interest in wooden coasters and the ride lasts a long time. I wanted to love it! Man I was and still am disappointed every time I ride. Better than nothing!

  • I love this ride! I remember riding it soo many times back to back but I still dont see how there could be a camera on this i mean im suprised it didnt fall off or something o.o

  • woot, i live in cincinnati :D

  • Interesting design—lots of long, slow slopes and curves, rather than the whiplash twists and turns of something like Cedar Park's Maverick. This looks like it would be a lot of fun!

  • I'm in love. This is the best wooden roller coaster I've ever seen. It actually takes you somewhere instead of staying in one area like most.

  • Still a decent ride but the 100s of feet of trim brakes really ripped the soul out of the beast.

  • My pap help build this <33

and all the old school ones that are still there.

    :D

  • I love how at 1:20 there's leafs on the tree, but on the ride there isn't any!!

  • in line a get chills up my back. getting in the seat i put the baras far down as it would go. up the hill i assked if we could get off. NOT HAPPENIN!!!!! down the hill my stomach turned and my head spun i couldnt c anythin. wen we stopped yheartwasexplodin. BEST RIDE EVA!!!!!

  • you idiots have no idea wat u talkin bout. shutup until u actually ride the beast. best coasterever in my opinion. 31 years and counting. im only 13 and i went on when i was 9 firstand last time. it scared the crap out of me. it was about 10 oclock last ride before ki closed that night.my stepdad called me a coaster chicken until i went on. it had been raining erlier tht day so it was cold andthere was fog around the track. PITCH BLACK. autumn day so all trees dead. horrer movie like. waiting -

  • Isnt this ride closed now since people were killed when part of the coaster fell?

  • @addictedjun No. Son of Beast is closed now. However, no one was killed on Son of Beast, and nothing fell. It has had a long history of accidents and injuries, though.

  • @addictedjun No, That's Son Of The Beast. They should have never got the idea to put a loop on a wooden coaster...

  • @SupaDupaMan1000 Really? I thought the loop was amazing! I understand why they took it out, but I really liked it... Do you think they will open it?

  • the diamondback is higher than this one =D

  • this is 1 of the gayest rides ever it has no loops no high altitudes or any excitment and its wooden its makes a loud and unpleasent sound uuugghhhhh........ ppfffff......

  • @9180294 Well of you'd prefer to die seeing as a wooden coaster with loops risks breaking, as do wooden high altitude arcs. They are used with steel coasters because steel coasters can stand the pressure and weight. If you don't like wooden coasters then don't ride them. I'm lightweight, so it was rather painful to ride(wooden coasters tend to shake the passengers around a lot). Other than that it was enjoyable. Why are you on this video if you hate it so much anyways? v_v;

  • @9180294 Airtime hills are way more intense than inversions. If you close your eyes you don't feel 95% of inversions. And wooden coasters are generally better because it gives an out of control feeling. This is actually fairly high for a wooden coaster. The only wood coaster with a loop (Son of Beast) was pretty much a failure. This is a terrain coaster, meaning it hugs the ground. And you're not cool for calling this gay. :)

  • @9180294 Dude, just shut the fuck up, okay? Just shut. The fuck. Up. Rides can't exactly be "gay" anyway can they? But if this - in my opinion the best ride of all time - ride is gay, then you and the ride are two of a kind, huh?

  • Many believe the ride is actually haunted. I am not getting this from the book by R.L. Stine. But they believe the ground it is built over was once a grave yard or something. I don't believe it is true but some people actually do.

  • The first time I rode this I thought it was pretty bumpy, but after that I hardly noticed the roughness. Awesome ride!

  • the front is the best

  • jesus so long great ride

  • riding this in a few weeks. I live in the UK. Can't wait

  • this total looks like the kind of coaster i wuld like! i like fats coasters haha i hve to go one day

  • Don't stick your arms out :o chop chop!

  • @nacholu28 If you just put your arms up going into the final helix, your fingers and/or hand can hit the top of the tunnel. ;)

  • ive been on this ride like 500 times and it never gets old great ride and if any of you ride this make sure you do it at night its the best

  • thats a long ride

  • @screamopunk1995

It's the longest wooden rollercoaster in the world.

  • i love it

  • I don't care what anyone says. This is the best wooden coaster, this and the Voyage. It's rough, but that makes it more fun and trust me, i'ts not close to being boring!

  • Beast is my fav at Kings Island, no doubt about it! :D

  • i can srvive that

  • Weak ass roller coaster!

  • @BlinkFreak18232 maybe you should ride it before you judge it based solely on the video.

  • Ok shutup. This is not a weak ass coaster!!!!!!!!!!! Its one of the best(in my opinion the BEST) ride @ Kings Island. Before you say how weak it is maybe you should ride it then say what you want bout it! But u cant say shit bout it unless u have ridden it!

  • @Warriordog1011 don't forget the 2nd fastest wooden coaster in the us.

  • This looks so smooth!

  • The Beast celebrated its 30th Anniversary in 2009. It is the longest wooden roller coaster in the world.

  • this has to be the roller coaster with the most random layout ever.

  • that was my frist big rollar coaster i rode when i was 11 my sister was 15 she had to ride by my dad so i rode by myself in fact i rode on all of them myself did say it was my frist time on rollarcoasters?

  • wtf is that roller coaster ?

  • 0:32 Yeee HAA! :D

  • deffinitely a great ride. not so much on the thrill end, but fun as hell

and they shut the son of beast down because a guy riding it had a brain aneurysm during the ride. it will open again this coming season

  • uhhh....there arent any loops on wooden coasters....i mean there were.....but...that didnt work out so well. haha

  • Ho-hum and a yawn thanks for the helix!

  • kings islands great i live in ohio and we go there all the time in cincanati i live in franklin this is a dangerous rollercoaster tho

  • I love this ride! It's so relaxing but it gives you an awful headache if you ride it too many times in a row... :(

  • it could use some loops

  • It can use some drops....really over-rated...it is fast but so are the Express subways in NYC

  • Exactly it has no real drops just long downward track sections.

  • well they tried that with its son and it killed a few people..... injured hundreds.... woodens dont need loops at all...

  • @vbcoasters23 well i dont think it killed anyone but it injured like 30 people

  • actually no the reason why they fixed the son of beast was because it got caught on the loop killing 3 people.

  • Actually, there were no deaths and it hasn't been stuck on the loop. Once in 2006 a piece of wood snapped causing vibration, which injured a train load of people (27 injuries), and there was a second injury in 2009 (after the loop was taken out) which was supposed head trauma

  • Ahahahah. No. You don't know shit. Its a wooden coaster, they don;t have loops nor do they need them.

  • Man, that thing looks FUN!, it looks REALLY fast, and that's what I like most.

  • Kings Island Cincinnati Ohio

  • it is fun i live in ohio

  • 30 years and nobody has built a better one.

  • @RCTPatriot75 AMEN! Son of Beast is close, but no. I spent my honeymoon there and my husband was screaming that they would never find us in the tunnel.

  • I gotta try it!

  • 1:45 to 2:05, watch for whiplash.

  • best wooden roller coaster on the face of the planet. its awesome. next comes terminator. then the racer

  • Actually the beast is not bad. I've riden it like a million times. It's sooooooooo fast though, but not jerky

  • gee a seventy mph woodie. that's pretty cool. lol the woodie by me called the predator, it's voted one of the worst wodies in the country cause it's so rough. I can only imagine what 70 in that would do to you.

  • I love this ride! I was 10 yrs old wen I rode this

  • was it scary?

    did ya puke?

  • After 30 years it is still the longest wooden coaster in the world ! - 7359 ft and a top speed of almost 70mph

  • that looks so fun its like going 65 on a very small convertable train

  • The Phoenix at Knoebels is pretty amazing, too.

  • Correct you are! That whole park is worth the drive......love those old rides.

  • The best wooden coaster on earth. Easily.

  • i agree

  • i went on this and i like peeedd my pants lol

  • damn that shit is bat ass long as fuck

  • what does POV mean

  • point of view

  • that's a long rider compared to most

  • good ride... like it how the trees look when riding it

  • bad!!!!

  • Best coaster anywhere, IMHO. This might look pretty tame compared to the 'extreme' coasters built since the late-90s, or the looping coasters in the ten year period before that, but nothing - NOTHING - matches The Beast at night.

The double helix at the end is the signature of this ride. When the track starts banking left off the second lift hill and before the tunnels, it feels like the train is just going to tip right off over the left side of the track.

    An intense, classic ride.

  • Booring!

  • Hey, it's the best ride there, considering it was built in 1979. But Diamondback still rocks.

  • Hey, this is from a roller coaster movie I have, you stole this!

  • When was this taken??

  • this ride looks like its in th middle of NOWHERE!

  • its in the middle of the woods it starts out were every one is and then it takes u back in the woods its a great coaster

  • This is my favorite ride at Kings Island! I loved it :) Rode it two times. My friend and I were riding it for the first time and I screamed, "Damn it, damn it, damn it" while she screamed, "HOLY shit!" it was so much fun :D

  • cool ride!!! lol of course i would piss myself on these rollercoasters as i am not used to them

  • The "dead" tree look seems to give the ride a raw, creapy fealing. Scarry o.o

  • Hey Man, i was thinking Exactly the same. LOL It looks like a Horrormovie with the Grey Heaven and the Dead Trees!

  • Son of the Beast is much more extreme. My dad rode this when he was a kid so when went a while ago he wanted to take the Son cause thought it be more tame and be smooth. He had to take some pills for his heart and he puked when we left. HAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

  • my dad lost his cell phone on this ride because it was soo bumpy

  • also the first time i rode it the ride almost killed everyone we lost a lot of wheels they flew off and the canceled it for a month SCARY

  • i love that ride everytime i go there i ride it

  • oh boy my first rollercoaster over 100 ft!!! im going next week! ahh

  • im just wondering is this a pretty smooth woodie coaster? cuz in the video it looks pretty smooth it doesnt look like it jerks around too much. if i ever went to kings island i should try this but not son of beast

  • lol, this ride is actually one of the roughest i've ever riden. i bumped heads with my friend 3 times. if you go on it sometime, dont except a smooth ride, just warning you.

  • haha thanks for warning me, ive only ridden one wooden coaster and it was smooth

  • after you ride it a few times and you get a feel for it its not to bad

  • it is really rough.but really fun.

this video is a longtime ago.

  • It is fairly smooth for a woodie, yes. I've noticed several user comments about it being rough. If you want rough, go to Six Flags Atlanta and ride the Georgia Cyclone. That thing will give you whiplash. I felt as if I'd been in a car wreck after riding that hunk of junk. The Beast is a fun ride, no doubt.

  • ur just saying it looks boring but when u get in line ull be a little chicken shit and not ride it. u suck orlandospad

  • wth, they were like in the woods

  • Man i wish it still ran like this. The magnets slow it so much now.

  • my first huge rollercoaster good times... good times

  • me too! this was my first big one!

  • are there any big hils?

  • Looks really really boring until the last actual drop into a tunnel. meh. I wouldn't want to wait more than 15 to ride this...

  • Video doesn't do this coaster justice. IMO, it's the best wooden coaster ever built.

  • agreed

  • I had never been on a roller coaster my whole life....then for my first time I got on the beast!.....Suffice it to say, I didn't get on any other roller coasters!!

  • omg! same here. this was my first roller coaster i was 7 when i went on it. now i am terrified of them. D:

  • I'm 12 and when I go to king island I go no were near the big coster so this year i'm trying them out

  • the waiting line for this ride must blow.

  • It depends on what time of day you go. I rode it last August, at about 5 P.M. on a weekend and the wait was only 20 minutes.

  • it doesnt look intense, but trust me, it is VERY intense.

you must ride it to feel it.

  • I feel the pain. It looks fun, but once your on it , it definnitely does NOT feel fun. The whole time I was on it i felt like i was getting a concusion, and thinking to myself "i'm going to live, i will survive" XD

  • whoooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! =]

  • So do you.

  • I love the Beast ~!!!!!

  • this is the first coaser i put my hands up on lol :D

  • it doesn't seem that extreme.

  • you have to ride beast to feel the intensity, i rode the dragster at cedar point, and this is more intense, its just nuts !!

  • It all depends on where you sit as well. If you sit in the front seat, it's fairly smooth, but if you sit towards the middle or the back, it's really rough. Either way it's an extremely fun roller coaster.

  • my fist was the wild cat in hershey perk

  • Ah, I love this ride. It's at my Home Park and I ride it at least once a week in the summer, it's my baby ride and my second fav wooden coaster in the world.

  • Lives up to its name.

  • that looks fucking amazing

  • Dang!:o

  • does anyone know how much it cost to build this ride?

  • these are the kind of rides i love

    FAST!!!!

  • I was luck enough to be in line for my first ride on the Beast when it broke down for an hour which allowed me to get my first ride on the Beast in the front row at 9pm in the dark. That ride now ranks as one of the best experiences I've had while riding a coaster. The Beast is hidden in the woods, at the back of the park. It hugs the ground for most of the trip and has absolutely no lights shining on it at night.

  • Ahh, the good ol' days when it actually WENT that fast!

  • This POV is fairly recent, and it goes the same speed it has for a good majority of it's life. The Trim Brakes have been on the ride since the early 1980s and have never left.

  • No...this POV is at least 15 years old. It's from a video called "America's Greatest Roller Coaster Thrills" which only contained coasters built 1994 and earlier.

  • Lol, does anyone remember the books R. L. Stine wrote about this coaster?

  • OMG! This was my first roller coaster ride EVER!! We were on our honeymoon and hubby said "Let's wait in line for the first car". I said sure... so, off we went. Christ almighty that was one terrifying adrenalin rush!! It was uber-fun... much UNlike the Son of the Beast... that deal was just painful!!! Thanks for the post!!

  • I loooove the Beast at Kings Island. This Coaste is better at night and after a Rainstorm when fog forms around the track

  • Best coaster you will ever ride at night.

Best wooden coaster you will ever ride period.

  • Best coaster ever woooo(at least, that i've ridden)

  • haha, looks like a replica of that old wooden rollercoaster down in Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California..

  • wooden ones are scary cuz they look not sturdy (even if they are)

  • is 68 mph the fastest you have ben on try Rita at alton towers it goes at 100 mph (no joke it's real) you should try it

  • This coaster was built in 1979 coasters didn't go 100mph in 1979 i actually doubt there is a wood coaster that does 100 mph.

  • Son of Beast is the tallest at 215ft and fastest at 80mph woodie in the world. There are no other wooden coasters that are faster.

  • Actually Son of Beast is 218 feet high with a 214 foot drop. It reaches a speed of 79 Miles Per Hour at the bottom of the biggest drop.

  • aje2103: Rita at Alton Towers only reaches 61.1 mph or 98.3 km/h (which is rounded to 100 km/h). You got miles mixed up with kilometers. Then 68 mph is faster than 61.1 mph. Haha, all because you don't know your mph and km/h! And by the way, the fastest roller coaster in the world is Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey-and it reaches 128 mph-that's 206 km/h!

  • pretty lame

  • it's got the old school lap bar that allows you to stand up right

  • I never feel safe on the rides that have that as your saftey bar.

  • dat lookz lik da longest n borinest rollercoaster ever except for da tunnelz

  • it is the longest...

  • Few things asshole.

This video does the Beast no justice.

The Beast is my favorite coaster. Ride it at pitch black night and call it boring Second this video does it no just the double helix is amazing. Ride the coaster before you call it boring. LEARN ON TO SPELL RETARD

  • It doesn't look too great...
