i like to hold mine by the magazine well, it allows your hand to be right on the magazine when you need to reload, helps with the reload speed. however i have noticed in quite a few videos now people seem to be simply doing a quick rotation of the rifle to "sling" the mag out, what is the deal with that? i try to learn all the techniques i can :)
I'm afraid I have to disagree with the control. The purpose of the conventional grip is to provide support for the rifle. The forward arm should NOT be directing the rifle. That is the job of the body, and the trigger hand. The support arm is always the pivot point, even when not prone. On a vid I just watched of yours, 4/5 targets had multiple complete misses, up to 4 rounds. Using a pivot style (tripod) grip allows for accuracy up to 100%
have you tried using two fingers over the top of the barrel due to having your periferals impared from your hand just a thought and i dont think i spelt 'periferals' right :S
to me its unnatural to use that type of grip, i guess that's why i prefer the AB arms mod 1 it gives me more control over the gun i would recommend that to you but i know guys that practice your type of grip and they hate it,whatever works best for you then use it is what i say ..also the camera work was just freaking awesome on this video ....hey Erika lol
@kelsoks They are gtg. Personally I prefer electronic muffs with or without the earpro or other plugs, especially while shooting a AR with a compensator. Muffs stop the vibration of the ear cartilage which ear plugs alone cannot do.
Once again great video. There is so much controversy over which grip is best blah blah blah! As time goes on things change and revolutionize. So for now this is best. Great job explaining how it's natural.
You've gotta give me our source for ammo. I try to get out and shoot but ammo bills really blow. I also have been having a hard time trying to find 5.45 for my sgl 31, in bulk.
Your channel is awesome bro! It's great that you upload so often. I've been wondering where you learnt all you know or if you have been to different schools...maybe just magpul videos....lol. I hope you get to take your camera to fighting pistol. Would make for a great video. Keep it up.
bro i like ur grip but im not comfurtable with my arm extended out that far i use a blackhawk foward down grip. but it is up front a good bit. i dont thank anyone should say any crip is wrong if u can control u firearm safely and hit ur threat i thank any grip is good. i do see that on this weapon u dont use an optic. but on ur other AR's ive seen optics what is ur favrite to use
@Fonzy0202 very true, i always say find what works best for you and stick with it. The only reason i dont have an red dot on this one is because i havent got around to buying yet. Im looking at aimpoint t1 for sure. Just look around before i make up my mind.
Not quite sure of who or what group invented this grip, but I've seen competition shooters doing this way back before Magpul was ever conceived of. Your right that it does give you much better control transitioning in multiple target engagements without experiencing little to no mechanical sway. Great video and keep up the excellent work.
Thats the perfect way to run an AR great vid. Also got my battlecomp and need to find a smith to put it on. Has a crush washer and needs to be timed. Im not even gonna attempt it.
@BAM9451 Timing a muzzle device on an AR isn't nearly as hard as you think. If you're smart enough to know how to shoot an AR then you can put on a battlecomp.
I saw this or something similar from magpul videos. I practice this because it is the simplest, most versatile, most caveman simple, user friendly and easiest to move in my opinion. It works great for me, I don't have long arms at all. Practice what works for you. I like this channels owner, have used this move effectively and I believe that this is the best for most people. HOWEVER, don't trust me, try out what works for you. Your mileage may vary. Thanks for posting!
The style is very affective if standing in the open or competition shooting. It quickly falls apart if shooting weak side around obstacles, in the prone, or in cqb where running the weapon short is huge. You can't beat it the way you are using it and having different shooting styles makes you a very well rounded shooter. Keep up the great work. Love the videos bro!
I like the idea. It's like you have the exact same control over the rifle as you do your left arm. Kind of makes aiming as simple as pointing your finger at the target. I always felt the further the target is, the further up your arm should be. Works for me at least. I actually saw you do this and tried it at the range and I shot more accurate.
My reason... It makes sense. Also just to clarify for people, you don't have to go all out like Costa, and others, just have your hand as close to the bore as possible, and try to get your thumb up either over the rail/hand guard, or locked forward like holding a pistol. I don't lock my elbow and such myself, hurts my arm too fast, but I do true to get my hand out.
i don't know why people associate this strictly with magpul. The competition community has been unitizing this form of grip/stance for some time. This is a great way to grip the rifle. Was a little uncomfortable for me at first, when i transition from a more tradition rifle hold, but it really grew on me and i love the enhanced ability to control the muzzle. And its not like you have to shoot like this 24/7 just think of it as another tool in the tool box
Nice vid.. was wondering why you held it like that. Im from UK and recently bought my first shotgun... no assault rifles for me! Got a hot gf too tho! Cool videos keep em coming buddy.
That's how Chris Costa does it. That's all you need to say! Lol. Even though this style had become popular through the magpul schools I wonder who started this technique? Sadly, I'm pretty short and have a short reach so to me shooting like this is extremely uncomfortable. But i see that it works well for many others so that's good.

Since I am here commenting... You handle your weapon as well, if not better, than anyone I've ever seen.
Keep on making these great videos!
