In the Atari Jaguar version, the mosquito who chases you through the forest at the start of the level is dark red/purple, just the same as the one you fight at the end of the level. It makes a lot more sense that way, as it's perfectly clear that it's a different mosquito from the one you befriended earlier in the game.

Tip for mosquito: when he's charging from the sides, you can punch him instead of dodge, makes the fight a tad easier and shorter :P allthough.. why would you want to shorten it down with the awesome music playing!?

There's Hard, there's Battletoads, and then there's -Rayman-. I don't hate the game at all. It's gorgeous. The music is spectacular. It's a fantastic concept. But it's so fucking -cheap-. Ghouls & Ghosts cheap. So cheap it utterly ruins your appreciation of the game, and as far as I'm concerned, it's unplayably cheap.

I remember fighting Moskito. I never knew there were two different kinds of them. I always thought that the one you first fight, then you ride in the following level was the same one you fight in this battle.

Is this a new version of the old one? The color scheme is different then the one I had. I just bought a new game and will hopefully get it here in a few days but the coloring and some of the graphics are different.

Unfortunately the DSi version of this boss battle is 'broken'; the smallest and largest spiky fruits are held and dropped too low so the former are hard to dodge and the latter ALWAYS hits you even if you duck making this first proper boss battle much harder than it should be. Even Mr. Sax and Mr. Stone are easier!

It looks like he's crying, but it's because when he lifts the big purple spike, he is sweating and closing his eyes to focus, i think.

When I was little, I always thought the first one was "Moskito Jr.", and cried because he's little and got beaten up (but befriended Rayman). So in this level, he was forced by his parent to kill Rayman against his wishes, which I thought made sense because he looked to be crying when lifting that Spike Berry on first stage phaze (I know they are sweat drops).

So in the boss, you fight Moskito Senior, who decided to deal with you personally. Failed, and Rayman gave no sympathy.

@Nintendoggy It is a very nice way to explain that part! I felt confused as well during the chasing level with the huge spiky fruit! In my opinion Mosquito jr. simply decided to play bad twice, but this is not something which can be really explained!

Same species; different creatures...

there's a glitch you can use to beat the boss, if you time ur fist right after you've hit him, quickly hit just before he tries to fly away, then repeat. :D

They seem to have fixed this on the PC version. They changed his AI so that he remains dazed until the very top of the screen.

its a really good psp game and is pretty cheap. in the US ive found a mew one for $13. u should look up videos of it. theyve already released the second one but when u buy it u have to download it from the PSN

Not very far to be honest. I've had this game on Ps1 for many years. In fact, it was the first ever Ps1 game I played. To this day, I have never completed it. One of the hardest platfromers I've played.

About the furthest I can get in both the disc version and on psp is Band Land, or to be more precise, Bongo Hills. What doesn't help is trying to find cages. Some are really well hidden. So atm, I haven't been playing it.

OMG i LOVE rayman! I'm a HUGE fan! God i rem when i was lk 7 and my sis 9 and we used to LOVE playing rayman 1 on our playstation! It wasn't half hard though! I LOVE th music on the game! It's funny though cos i rem EVERYTHING and it feels lk yesterday that i was 7 and playing rayman with my is watching! We also had pandemonium 1which we also LOVED and croc 1 and others that i cant rem!!! Thankx for bringing back the memory! Unfortunately our PS broke and i havent been on it for yrs! I LOVE u!
