Is the office of Constable of the Tower a profitable position these days like it was historically?
I'm also unsure of the role itself today.. Does constable in this case refer to "Count of the stable" or the legal meaning of a public civil officer whose proper and general duty is to keep the peace within his district, or something else?
Well, umm that's a lot ot not much for the money.
