america was angry that britain was sending ships to canada. britain had their hands full with napoleon, and so they sent only part of their navy. a war enraged. eventually, the british burnt down the white house. the war kept going until the british and americans agreed to act like nothing had happened.
The irony... Canada didn't get to Washington... The British Royal Army did after beating Napoleon... And then America kinda beat the best Navy in the world. Remember Fort McHenry? We also burned several Canadian towns as payback.
Actually my teacher was taught both in the UK and in the US and apparently every side says they won. It depends on who you ask. I'd like to think the U.S. won because i'm american and because though the war had a rocky start andrew jackson kicked ass, we won at lake erie and we then preceded to kill the best canadian general and the best indian general. However the war ended in a draw.
Let's be clear on this for a second. NOBODY WON THE WAR OF 1812!!!!!
First off the americans cried? you know we cried for those who lost thier lives in war, and the civilians that got caught in the crossfire (9/11 ring a bell?) i do find this funny but very hateful, best i give this is a 5/10
@jacktheripperrules You know you really aint bright are ya? say this slowly when your readin this, I was makin an example earlier, when you got that then comment back, dumbass
@WildWhiteFang i know it was an example but it was a bad example, thats all i was trying to say, so if youre not going to try and understand my side of the argument then youre the dumbass and this is over
@jacktheripperrules I understand what your sayin, but my point was you didnt understand MY point until now. Plus how is that a bad example? You know what, i'll tell you what, you come up with a better example, cause for one, i do understand the importance of lost lives in the US's military. By the way im not the one speakin idiot
@Mattingly97 or you could get the joke behind it: get proud of a war that happened over 200 years ago and is no longer relevant in ANY way at all? that and it's the only real notable conflict in canadian history.
if u lolzd at sonic GO TO HELL I HATE U N00BS THAT LAUGH AT HIM FRANKLY I WANNA BE SONIC SO SHUT THE HELL UP ABOUT SONIC BEING A LITTLE CRY BABY SO YEH! thumbs up if u think itz trew
@xlegionx he seems to know more than you... Anyway it is true that Britain contributed to our armies but the forces that beat the crap out of Washington were mostly Canadian militia and first nations people
@xIegionx ivé read maybe a page and a half of comments and it seems there are americans and canadians who need to bone up on their history...heh, bone.
I'm proud to be an American where atleast I know I'm free! And I'll won't forget the men who died- who gave that right to me! And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today- Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land.. God bless the U S A!
@TenFingersPale One of the causes of this war was American theft of Native lands which inspired Tecumseh to form a coalition to fight back. Those lands & peoples were free before you built your fences, drew your maps & cut the land up in to little pieces to call yours alone.
Are you proud that your solders skinned Tecumseh on the battlefield where he died fighting for true freedom?
Your freedom is an ugly lie. A slogan, nothing more. What is it that you have to be proud of?
@Eddythebeast666 I went to Columbas, Ohio to see the play Tecumseh and I was truly horrified that the Americans would do such a thing and I agree with you that what our ancesters did was wrong. But where I disagree with you, sir, is that the American freedom is an ugly lie. Americans through out history have died defending what we belive is right. Freedom. Without the right of freedom, where would we be? What we Americans have now is what we stand for, May I ask what nationality you are, sir?
@coffeelover410 When any man makes personal sacrifices for the betterment of their fellow man that is a good & noble thing. I would like to hear more of this,Please enlighten me to exactly which wars through history that America has aided their fellow man.
I'm curious because I am in fact familiar with American war history & it seems to me that the only Freedom the US fought for was its own at everyone else expense.I'm Canadian, of Mi'kmaq, French Arcadian, American Loyalist, Scottish decent.
@Eddythebeast666 During the Second World War, America's allies the British , called upon us to aid them after Hittler took over France. When the Americans landed on Omaha beach, they secured the beach which allowed Allied forces to land in Europe. Vietnam is also a war where Americans helped their Allies. Today, America is over in the Middle East, along with Canada if I'm not mistaken, trying to liberate countries that are to weak to stand on there own.
@coffeelover410 There is a lot of US history before WW2 but I think the fact you started with that made my point for me.
Don't get me wrong we are grateful for the help but you guys didn't join the fight because we asked. My Grandfather was in the merchant Marines. There was 2 years as the Nazis sank our supply ships before the choice was taken from you when you were attacked yourself.
Omaha wasn't the only beach. There was Juno & before D Day there was the Dieppe Raid.
@Eddythebeast666 Yes but if you were a leader of a counrty, would you want your nation to get involved in a war after you just had one? No one wants to fight a war and America didn't want to be in it. If you think about it would you jump into a war and would you try to keep your nation out of it? That is why America didn't want to fight.
@coffeelover410 There was 2 weeks of debate in Canada's Parliament & I can assure you at no point did we want to get involved in another. We felt it there was no other way.
Remember all that appeasement we tried with Hitler to avoid another war? Kind of funny how you guys throw that in our faces every time you want to start a new war but you knobs hung back 2 years until attacked yourselves before joining the fight.
@coffeelover410 We are off topic, this song is a joke. My reply to TenFingersPale jingoism was justified.
He wasn't trying to be funny & its apparent very few Americans have taken a good long look at your history & questioned if your beliefs about your selves are justified.
Hey do you see us telling every other nation on earth how lucky they are that we are here?
@Eddythebeast666 We Americans do not brag that we are better. Our education is ranked 17 in the world. We are the fattest country in the world. We pollute the air and water, so even I see the problems with our country but we try our best to help others. We(some) people donate to African countries, we protect countries from terrorism, and we wish for peace in the world. (But who doesn't?) I understand the song was a joke but I disagree with some of your comments.
I've been arguing with a few Americans in particular about the merits of this war & after watching that God awful "First Invasion War of 1812" video I do have a tomahawk to grind with American portrayal of history.
I haven't always limited myself to the source of my aggravation but I still believe TenFingersPale deserved being chewed out for his post.
@Eddythebeast666 It is true you have a right to your opinion but I also have the right to counter it. What about you Canadians? Aren't you French decendents? How did you end up here in North America? I'm pretty sure you kicked out the Iroquois when you first landed in North America.
@coffeelover410 I'm more then willing to discuss historical details. You seem to think we sugar coat our history as is often the case in the USA.
As I said before I'm Part Mi'kmaq & French Arcadian.
The European nations often used the competition between First nations to their advantage. Such was the relationship as the alliance allowed us to greatly expand our lands at others expense.
This is true however we haven't been promoting our more ugly activities as Gods gift to the world.
@coffeelover410 What? You don't believe in your nations glorious Manifest Destiny? How very un-American of you, you must be liberal."First Invasion War of 1812 Part 1" is a 2004 American documentary that edits out every fact that might cast the US in an unfavorable light while equating Canada's defenders with those who committed the 9,11 attacks. Its very hard for me to speak respectfully to people from a nation that would produce such offensive garbage. Why should I? We are treated with contempt
@Eddythebeast666 First off, I'm not a liberal and I hate to be juged by someone who doesn't even know me personaly. Wouldn't you try to defend your country if someone was slandering it with steriotipical comments? Second, did I ever compair you to a terrorist? No, I didn't. And third, I wasn't a part of that history so why do you juge me on what my ancestors did? Imagen being juged by everyone you meet for what you did years ago. Would you like it? Answer me that.
@coffeelover410 If you are trying to defend US actions during the 1812 war when the US was attacking my home land then we are almost certainly going to disagree.
If you want generalize avoiding the subject of the song but still pushing an America is the Greatest nation ever theme then I think you are missing the point that the song through humor is trying to make.
Its the ultra nationalistic attitude which isn't about what was done years ago but what is creating the disagreement right now.
@Eddythebeast666 No I'm not trying to defened the actions of the US during the war of 1812 but instead agree with you. those Americans were stupid, Canadians and Americans today are stupid, people are going to be stupid. Its what makes us human. Its true that im a proud patriot of my country but im not blind and some day im going to join the Marines to protect her but just what makes you think your country is better? I admit we made some mistakes but hasnt Canada? Hasnt every country?
@coffeelover410 I have served in my nations military & love my country but I'm not now or have ever been a proud patriot.
OK yes I have pride but Pride isn't a virtue its a character flaw. One of the 7 deadly. I try not to let pride get the better of me.
Yes Canada has plenty of moments to hang our heads in shame about. They are more important then our successes as that is how we learn & grow. Becoming less stupid.
@Eddythebeast666 I take back for when I asked if your country was better but the rest of your comment has left me wordless. I agree that pride is a flaw and I must say it has gotten the better of me. But living in a country that I call my home, it hurts me to hear others insult my nations motto for freedom. I am a decendent of soldiers for the American forces and have know great men who have died protecting our motto for freedom, and hearing people insult it, thats what got to me.
@coffeelover410 My family has a long military heritage as well that does not mean every war we took part in was honorable.
We lost many good people when Canada participated in the 2nd Boer War but no matter how great the sacrifice that does little to change the fact the war saw the invention of concentration camps.
1812 was not a good war for US honor. As a Native who lived free before your European founding fathers built your land on ours your motto is rather insulting.
@Eddythebeast666 I never said that any war that the US has been in was honorable. War is never about honor. Its when politicians disagree with each other and turn to force in ingroence. The first settlers of the New World came in peace and the first Thanksgiving was held so we weren't always killing each other. Tell me, how was it that your founding fathers came to the land you call Canada? I'm sure it wasn't uninhabitied when they landed.
@coffeelover410 You do know those first peaceful interactions were with European settlers not Americans right?
I can go back as far as 1680 marriage between a Mi'kmaq woman & French fur trader Le Jeune. Access to European goods granted the Mi'maq enormous advantages & prosperity, like wise for the French who traded with us. There were problems with disease as Europeans had yet to discover bathing yet & intertribable warfare.
What does this have to do with my problem with American slogans?
as a person not from the USA or canada I'll say after the completely immature way canada acted during the stanley cup shows you're no better, and just as disgusting as the US. You're no different than the people you try to look better than. You're just as sick and I'm glad all the bad stuff happens to both of your countries
@crunchykeIler Wow I didn't realize the topic was hockey. I guess a Russian would be sore about that due to your Olympic performance but no that was over the top in Vancouver I admit that. Do you have anything to say about 1812 or is Hockey & Vagina the limit of your intellect?
Ad Hom attacks from largely blank profiles, how surprising.
@Eddythebeast666 Wow aren't you a genius. First off I'm not Russian, nice assumption retard. Second the topic wasn't a bout hockey it was Canada's actions. Third, your argument's aren't even about 1812, it's about trying to be better than america. You're just as shitty as them and now you're getting butt hurt over it.
@crunchykeIler Your profile says Russia. If you don't want to talk about the topic of the video then post in my Profile or private message me. The comment section of videos are for comments related to the video. I didn't see hockey in the clip nor am I in it.
@Eddythebeast666 My profile doesn't say Russia. Even if it did are you that gullible? Point is you weren't ever talking about the War, you were talking about being superior to another Country, when in reality you're a shit country trying to be better than another shit country. You and your Country is full of failures and that incident is my validation
@crunchykeIler so one riot and the country is a bunch of failures?, saying that is an act of superiority and a bit close minded. people make mistakes, it was a bunch of anarchists that started the riots and a bunch of people got caught in the moment, And what makes your country better than U.S or Canada??
@C23MG The guy is so ashamed of his nation he keeps changing it is his profile. From his response I'd say he was a Yank trying to start a flame war. I can't be bother to reply to him.
@C23MG Yup you're just as shitty as America. Which is why I laugh when either Country thinks they're superior to one another when they're both just shitty
@crunchykeIler welcome to humanity you waste of skin, people make mistakes, i'm sure what ever dark hole you crawled out of has it's share of dark nasty deeds.
The Yanks lost to the Brits not the Canadians. I'm sick of the maple leaf Country thinking they won that war. If anyone did their research this was BRITAIN'S WIN.
@xIegionx Canada was & still is British, same Queen. If you want to be more specific write a UK version of the song otherwise stop bitching. Seriously do you like the Battle of New Orleans song better with Yanks bragging about killing British?
It was China's/India's tea Britain just had exclusive trading rights.
You know, the song kinda fails to mention that the British had been kidnapping American sailors and shooting up our warships long before the war started, in addition to refusing to evacuate a series of forts in the frontier and arming the natives…
this song forgets to mention andrew jacksons amazing victories over the british and their allies and also how madison didnt really want a war but knew that there had to be one to keep the war hawks happy it also fails to mention how just a few years back jefferson cut back the military by a large amount
it's great that we can make fun now, but i almost feel ashamed to be human.
ants and humans are the only things in this world that have war. i'd like to believe we're done with wars, but some people just don't seem to understand peace....... just sayin,
song makes no sense we faught the british not the fucking canadians The Brits owned Canada (I guess) oh and by the way we didnt lose to my History book The battle of New Orleans we kicked their ass royaly >:( Suckit bitch oh and by the way! one of our presidents Andrew "Old Hickory" Jackson Led the battle the odds Brits (/10 chance of Victory US 1/1 chance victory and who won? Well are we free Yes so no we did not lose we won because of our battle at the fort (Forgot the name lol) I Troll
@austin124450 I am 14 but im iffy about democrats right now... Im a republican sorta (not racist) the O'Riely Factor made me see things. including hanity.. I hate it when pinheads come in trolling
@MrTheTributer The USA did not cross the Atlantic to attack the British homeland you attacked the British colony of Canada & were repelled 3 times. The Battle of New Orleans was irrelevant as the treaty had been signed even if we had won the city would still have stayed a US city. The song makes a lot more sense then you do.
@Eddythebeast666 I didn't say we crossed the atlantic I know more than you think And There was a fort that decided it offically Fort McHenry. The war was started over the British hijacking American trade ships which Violated Neutral rights America got pissed the President Madison declared war after a lot of worthless acts (one called the Embargo act) We attacked the buildings burnt the down the British Came to DC kicked the ass of the UNtrained Soldiers, burnt the white house
@MrTheTributer Impressment was an excuse not a legitimate grievance because impressment ended before the war started. Briton continued to seize any American ships caring contraband even after the war. In fact after the war Briton had pretty much complete naval control of all ocean trade. Fort McHenry was also irrelevant if you didn't sign the treaty the USA would have come apart as 6 states were ready to leave the Union through the Hartford Convention.
@MrTheTributer If you examine your history book more closely, you'll read that the Battle of New Orleans, while it was a stunning American victory, was fought AFTER the Treaty of Ghent had ended the war in a draw--for all practical purposes, since no territory changed hands.
Im just saying, officially, the War of 1812 was a draw. Honestly, the British SHOULD HAVE won, but because of the battle of New Orleans, where the Americans held off the British, even though the war ended 2 weeks earlier, and thats the reason it was a draw. Little history lesson for you. Stay in school kids. :3
I beg to differ. Honestly, a lot of the wars that included Europe were helped and once or twice WON by America, so the other countries are the ones kissing our ass. We're like the babysitters of the world.
@Sparky6115 It kinda depends one how optimistic you are, truly I don't give a shit about any certain country but I just get tired of a bunch of patriots saying America is the best country and not giving any reason. Calling people commies cause they don't have 7 million American flags on their lawn. Not to say any certain person is, and by seeing the comments. There are much worse that I've seen
@MrTheTributer I've never been told get back to the end of the lane , so I'm gonna say my head is not pinish, and how would you know the shape of my head anyway?
Is this seriously what they teach you up there in canada? This is retarded. First of all, no one won or lost the war of 1812. Both signed treaties. In fact, canada was wanting jurist diction of all the great lakes, which they didn't get. And it was the BRITISH ARMY that burned the whitehouse. And also, did it mention in your canadian history books that before the burning of the whitehouse, us Americans went in and not only burned down SEVERAL parliament buildings but we also looted from you
this was hundreds of years ago. When The u.s. was 1/10000th as powerful as it is today. Nowadays, we could take over and destroy both canada and britain in seconds if we wanted to. IF WE WANTED TO
made me lol Canada one con try we shouldn't mess with the have chainsaws and hockey sticks in there military! you don't fuck with the dudes wielding chainsaws!
in fact i think i think the last battle with andrew jackson i think the american were outnumbered but only 17 american casulties and 2000 british casulties so nothing realy changed except americans had more pride in the counrty, native americans resistance weakend since they sided with the britsih , and the industry grew since they had to make there own merchandise so basicaly no one won but sadly people forget all the battles and focus on the white house buring to the ground now a days
@fwola An interesting prespective but "America is/be da Good Guys" doesn't carry much wieght as a worldly prespective. The USA was already attacking Natives before the war So WE joined them not the other way around. The first years of the war saw US military attack & burning Canadian towns with many humiliating defeats for the USA driveing them out of Canada. Harrasment of US ships was because of US suport of Napolion not some random act of piracy.
So the U.S. president got mad at... the British? and attacked... Canada? so Canada retaliated and the U.S. lost... and in the end nothing changed... Am I getting this right? Why are so many commenters pissed? It's just a comedy band, get over it! And it's not like this piece of history is relevent today, as if there is any tension between the U.S., Canada, and England.
@ShyKaLeah ithe war of 1812 is mainly caused by the british who kept attacking american merchant ships so america declared war but until the british beat the french thats when they started to fight but america had a crappy army about 7000 and i think 16 ships when they declared war so the first battle i think was at dc where the white house burned but if you looked it up that was one and i think the only one that the british won
@fwola The defenders of New Orleans were mostly French as the city only came under US contol in 1804. (Louisana Purchase) The American military were in fact excellent & had lots of experiance from fighting Natives. Not crappy at all. The population was not happy about becoming American but didn't want to be British ether even though they would have gotten better rights as did the people of Quebec. Jackson forced them at gun point to fight the British. They weren't given a choice in the matter.
@fwola There is lots of stuff they don't like talking about this war up here in Canada as well. For all the humor in this song it was a horrable war. Kind of suprising digging up the details has become so popular lately. Probably with the 200 year anivercery coming up.
@Jakekinfe1 I see your point, but there's no way America would lauch nuclear weapons at us (Canada). I can't remember exactly but more than 60-70% of our population lives within 1-2 hundred kilometers of the border. The chances of the fallout from such close nuclear explosions, drifting down onto America soil would be too high to risk it, unless of course we really pissed them off. Plus we could call the commonwealth card, get the UK to help us out maybe.
@Riflemen526 I doubt that the Commonwealth card would work, because the UK is sided with USA, but then again, so is canada. I doubt that we'd go ahead and nuke an ally. Unless every single US citizen and senator went nuts.
@Superfrokid It's meant to poke fun at those Americans who focus upon 1 or 2 battles as defining a very ugly war. Such as the Battle of New Orleans or the bombardment of Fort McHenry which became the USA's national anthem. To those who suffered genocidal extition from the War the fact the the American people chose to forget their crimes and honor the war as something glorious that is Highly offencive.

Today, America is over in the Middle East, along with Canada if I'm not mistaken, trying to liberate countries that are to weak to stand on there own.
coffeelover410 7 months ago
@coffeelover410 There is a lot of US history before WW2 but I think the fact you started with that made my point for me.
Don't get me wrong we are grateful for the help but you guys didn't join the fight because we asked. My Grandfather was in the merchant Marines. There was 2 years as the Nazis sank our supply ships before the choice was taken from you when you were attacked yourself.
Omaha wasn't the only beach. There was Juno & before D Day there was the Dieppe Raid.
Eddythebeast666 7 months ago
@Eddythebeast666 Yes but if you were a leader of a counrty, would you want your nation to get involved in a war after you just had one? No one wants to fight a war and America didn't want to be in it. If you think about it would you jump into a war and would you try to keep your nation out of it? That is why America didn't want to fight.
coffeelover410 7 months ago
@coffeelover410 There was 2 weeks of debate in Canada's Parliament & I can assure you at no point did we want to get involved in another. We felt it there was no other way.
Remember all that appeasement we tried with Hitler to avoid another war? Kind of funny how you guys throw that in our faces every time you want to start a new war but you knobs hung back 2 years until attacked yourselves before joining the fight.
Everyone knew Hitler had weapons.
Eddythebeast666 7 months ago
@coffeelover410 We are off topic, this song is a joke. My reply to TenFingersPale jingoism was justified.
He wasn't trying to be funny & its apparent very few Americans have taken a good long look at your history & questioned if your beliefs about your selves are justified.
Hey do you see us telling every other nation on earth how lucky they are that we are here?
Eddythebeast666 7 months ago
@Eddythebeast666 We Americans do not brag that we are better. Our education is ranked 17 in the world. We are the fattest country in the world. We pollute the air and water, so even I see the problems with our country but we try our best to help others. We(some) people donate to African countries, we protect countries from terrorism, and we wish for peace in the world. (But who doesn't?) I understand the song was a joke but I disagree with some of your comments.
coffeelover410 7 months ago
@coffeelover410 My apologies.
Eddythebeast666 7 months ago
@Eddythebeast666 It is true you have a right to your opinion but I also have the right to counter it. What about you Canadians? Aren't you French decendents? How did you end up here in North America? I'm pretty sure you kicked out the Iroquois when you first landed in North America.
coffeelover410 7 months ago
@coffeelover410 I'm more then willing to discuss historical details. You seem to think we sugar coat our history as is often the case in the USA.
As I said before I'm Part Mi'kmaq & French Arcadian.
The European nations often used the competition between First nations to their advantage. Such was the relationship as the alliance allowed us to greatly expand our lands at others expense.
This is true however we haven't been promoting our more ugly activities as Gods gift to the world.
The USA has.
Eddythebeast666 7 months ago
@Eddythebeast666 What activities that the US has been promoting do you find ugly?
coffeelover410 7 months ago
@coffeelover410 What? You don't believe in your nations glorious Manifest Destiny? How very un-American of you, you must be liberal."First Invasion War of 1812 Part 1" is a 2004 American documentary that edits out every fact that might cast the US in an unfavorable light while equating Canada's defenders with those who committed the 9,11 attacks. Its very hard for me to speak respectfully to people from a nation that would produce such offensive garbage. Why should I? We are treated with contempt
Eddythebeast666 7 months ago
@Eddythebeast666 First off, I'm not a liberal and I hate to be juged by someone who doesn't even know me personaly. Wouldn't you try to defend your country if someone was slandering it with steriotipical comments? Second, did I ever compair you to a terrorist? No, I didn't. And third, I wasn't a part of that history so why do you juge me on what my ancestors did? Imagen being juged by everyone you meet for what you did years ago. Would you like it? Answer me that.
coffeelover410 7 months ago
@coffeelover410 If you are trying to defend US actions during the 1812 war when the US was attacking my home land then we are almost certainly going to disagree.
If you want generalize avoiding the subject of the song but still pushing an America is the Greatest nation ever theme then I think you are missing the point that the song through humor is trying to make.
Its the ultra nationalistic attitude which isn't about what was done years ago but what is creating the disagreement right now.
Eddythebeast666 7 months ago
@Eddythebeast666 No I'm not trying to defened the actions of the US during the war of 1812 but instead agree with you. those Americans were stupid, Canadians and Americans today are stupid, people are going to be stupid. Its what makes us human. Its true that im a proud patriot of my country but im not blind and some day im going to join the Marines to protect her but just what makes you think your country is better? I admit we made some mistakes but hasnt Canada? Hasnt every country?
coffeelover410 7 months ago
@coffeelover410 I have served in my nations military & love my country but I'm not now or have ever been a proud patriot.
OK yes I have pride but Pride isn't a virtue its a character flaw. One of the 7 deadly. I try not to let pride get the better of me.
Yes Canada has plenty of moments to hang our heads in shame about. They are more important then our successes as that is how we learn & grow. Becoming less stupid.
Where did I say we are Better?
Eddythebeast666 7 months ago
@Eddythebeast666 I take back for when I asked if your country was better but the rest of your comment has left me wordless. I agree that pride is a flaw and I must say it has gotten the better of me. But living in a country that I call my home, it hurts me to hear others insult my nations motto for freedom. I am a decendent of soldiers for the American forces and have know great men who have died protecting our motto for freedom, and hearing people insult it, thats what got to me.
coffeelover410 7 months ago
@coffeelover410 My family has a long military heritage as well that does not mean every war we took part in was honorable.
We lost many good people when Canada participated in the 2nd Boer War but no matter how great the sacrifice that does little to change the fact the war saw the invention of concentration camps.
1812 was not a good war for US honor. As a Native who lived free before your European founding fathers built your land on ours your motto is rather insulting.
Eddythebeast666 7 months ago
@Eddythebeast666 I never said that any war that the US has been in was honorable. War is never about honor. Its when politicians disagree with each other and turn to force in ingroence. The first settlers of the New World came in peace and the first Thanksgiving was held so we weren't always killing each other. Tell me, how was it that your founding fathers came to the land you call Canada? I'm sure it wasn't uninhabitied when they landed.
coffeelover410 7 months ago
@coffeelover410 You do know those first peaceful interactions were with European settlers not Americans right?
I can go back as far as 1680 marriage between a Mi'kmaq woman & French fur trader Le Jeune. Access to European goods granted the Mi'maq enormous advantages & prosperity, like wise for the French who traded with us. There were problems with disease as Europeans had yet to discover bathing yet & intertribable warfare.
What does this have to do with my problem with American slogans?
Eddythebeast666 7 months ago
@Eddythebeast666 You're such a proud canadian aren't you?
as a person not from the USA or canada I'll say after the completely immature way canada acted during the stanley cup shows you're no better, and just as disgusting as the US.

You and your Country is full of failures and that incident is my validation
crunchykeIler 7 months ago
@crunchykeIler so one riot and the country is a bunch of failures?, saying that is an act of superiority and a bit close minded. people make mistakes, it was a bunch of anarchists that started the riots and a bunch of people got caught in the moment, And what makes your country better than U.S or Canada??

@MrTheTributer The USA did not cross the Atlantic to attack the British homeland you attacked the British colony of Canada & were repelled 3 times. The Battle of New Orleans was irrelevant as the treaty had been signed even if we had won the city would still have stayed a US city. The song makes a lot more sense then you do.
Eddythebeast666 11 months ago
@Eddythebeast666 I didn't say we crossed the atlantic I know more than you think And There was a fort that decided it offically Fort McHenry. The war was started over the British hijacking American trade ships which Violated Neutral rights America got pissed the President Madison declared war after a lot of worthless acts (one called the Embargo act) We attacked the buildings burnt the down the British Came to DC kicked the ass of the UNtrained Soldiers, burnt the white house
MrTheTributer 11 months ago
@MrTheTributer Impressment was an excuse not a legitimate grievance because impressment ended before the war started. Briton continued to seize any American ships caring contraband even after the war. In fact after the war Briton had pretty much complete naval control of all ocean trade. Fort McHenry was also irrelevant if you didn't sign the treaty the USA would have come apart as 6 states were ready to leave the Union through the Hartford Convention.
Eddythebeast666 11 months ago 3
@MrTheTributer If you examine your history book more closely, you'll read that the Battle of New Orleans, while it was a stunning American victory, was fought AFTER the Treaty of Ghent had ended the war in a draw--for all practical purposes, since no territory changed hands.

In fact, canada was wanting jurist diction of all the great lakes, which they didn't get. And it was the BRITISH ARMY that burned the whitehouse. And also, did it mention in your canadian history books that before the burning of the whitehouse, us Americans went in and not only burned down SEVERAL parliament buildings but we also looted from you

in fact i think i think the last battle with andrew jackson i think the american were outnumbered but only 17 american casulties and 2000 british casulties so nothing realy changed except americans had more pride in the counrty, native americans resistance weakend since they sided with the britsih , and the industry grew since they had to make there own merchandise so basicaly no one won but sadly people forget all the battles and focus on the white house buring to the ground now a days
fwola 1 year ago
@fwola An interesting prespective but "America is/be da Good Guys" doesn't carry much wieght as a worldly prespective. The USA was already attacking Natives before the war So WE joined them not the other way around. The first years of the war saw US military attack & burning Canadian towns with many humiliating defeats for the USA driveing them out of Canada. Harrasment of US ships was because of US suport of Napolion not some random act of piracy.
Eddythebeast666 1 year ago
So the U.S. president got mad at... the British? and attacked... Canada? so Canada retaliated and the U.S. lost... and in the end nothing changed... Am I getting this right? Why are so many commenters pissed? It's just a comedy band, get over it! And it's not like this piece of history is relevent today, as if there is any tension between the U.S., Canada, and England.
ShyKaLeah 1 year ago
@ShyKaLeah ithe war of 1812 is mainly caused by the british who kept attacking american merchant ships so america declared war but until the british beat the french thats when they started to fight but america had a crappy army about 7000 and i think 16 ships when they declared war so the first battle i think was at dc where the white house burned but if you looked it up that was one and i think the only one that the british won
fwola 1 year ago
@fwola The defenders of New Orleans were mostly French as the city only came under US contol in 1804. (Louisana Purchase) The American military were in fact excellent & had lots of experiance from fighting Natives. Not crappy at all. The population was not happy about becoming American but didn't want to be British ether even though they would have gotten better rights as did the people of Quebec. Jackson forced them at gun point to fight the British. They weren't given a choice in the matter.

Besides that the video was great!
Riflemen526 1 year ago
@Riflemen526 I doubt that the Commonwealth card would work, because the UK is sided with USA, but then again, so is canada. I doubt that we'd go ahead and nuke an ally. Unless every single US citizen and senator went nuts.
