I think it's best to start out on Expert because you learn the song how it's supposed to be sang, and not incorrectly. :) That's how I started. If you fail, no big deal, go in practice mode, or keep clicking restart and be sure to have the main vocals turned up so you can hear the original singer until you get the pitches right. Also the background music can sometimes mess you up because the background singers will be singing a different pitch altogether.

Interesting. Sorry for replying to such an old comment but I just caught this one. Being seen that you had previous experience with singing (been singing on a choir for sometime), unlike me, it's normal that you'll be wanting to start out with Expert. But, for me, I tried to do this, and took only 3/4 phrases to fail out of a song. So I adopted to go Easy-Medium-Hard-Expert so I can get confidency and have some basis on the pitch control. It worked for me. :)

I'm pretty sure that if I started out on Expert, I'd get discouraged no matter how valiant I'd be, and would label the RB/band-based GH games in my possession as "waste of money".

So Pixy, I'd say different ways can work for different people. ^_^

Oh trust me I failed out of my share of songs too, but it only forced me to practice those phrases I messed up on even more. XD Hard is okay to practice on, but anything lower than that I would say isn't a good idea because then you'd be singing too far off-pitch to really learn how to sing the song correctly. That's all I'm trying to say. :)

Thanks!! Haha Well my mom, sisters, and I all used to sing together ever since I was a little girl, and I played the violin for 10 years, which probably also helped with pitch development. All I can say is, practice definitely helps! :D

The pitch bars are skinnier so that there's less room to sing off-pitch. Meaning you have to pretty much sing the pitches dead-on in order to keep a multiplier going.
