I just had some whale steaks for dinner. Very god on the grill. It tastes great. Everybody who likes beef will love whale. Although it has to be the smaller whale species! They taste much better the the bigger species.
I say Norwegians should support us more. After all for Norway to help Iceland is like a child that has moved away but comes home for some time because of temporary difficulty. :-) Remember that we come from Norway originally.
Only one party in Iceland wants to join EU the others don't want to or will only do it with certain conditions that the Eu will never meet. But still one of the govermental parties now in control stated before elections that they are against EU but still they now voted for it. I cannot by any means understand this. The government in my opinion is not speaking the minds of the people of Iceland towards EU,IMF or the British and Dutch in this Icesave matter. The nations position is much tougher.

My problem with Icelandic banks is that they guaranteed the savings of the Icelandic people but not everyone else. I think you must live in Fantasy Island not Iceland if you think your economy is anything other than totally fucked. As a result billions of pounds were lost to British charities and councils right down to the man in the street. You people that are against whale hunting in Iceland don´t really have any idea of what it´s all about. First of all we only hunt about 10-30 animals a year. Minke whales the one we are hunting are not in any danger of getting extinct. To those of you who eat meet I want to ask. What do you think is better, to kill one whale that has been living free his whole live until it is killed or to kill 100 cows made in a factories? From these one whale you get the same amount of meet as from 100 cows.

I am from Iceland and I say kill them. It´s a good meat and just the same as eating other fishes or any othe animal. I´m all for it. I once shot a killer whale with my father on a boat. and just last week a herring fishing boat killed a whale in Iceland and cut it down to small pieces and like one of the crew said " this will be great on the bbq with a beer this summer" kill the whales of course.

Iceland would make far more money by taking tourists to see the whales rather than butchering them. As to the overfishing, I wouldn't be too proud of that. Most of Iceland lies underutilised and would be great for the introduction of pine forests or herd species.

We grow cows to be eaten. We are 100% responsible for their rearing and production. Whales aren't controlled by humans and we don't even know how many there are, but cows were bred to be eaten from earlier species of cattle. When Japan/Iceland starts rearing whales, then they can eat them.

The logical reason is that 23,000 fin whales and 63,000 minke whales measured against 4,972,719 humans in Norway and Iceland (both whaling countries)is NOT "superabundant" like the whalers say.

63,000 minkes? What are you talking about? IWC is estimating that there are about 960,000 minke whales on the earth. About 761,000 is in Southern Hemisphere, 174,000 in Northern Atlantic Ocean, 25,000 in Nothern Pacific Ocean. Regarding fin whales, IWC's estimation is about 30,000.
