Also you can loan out DVDs and books or read papers or magazines for free. Libraries across USA are all noticing a major increase in patronage with many more people using their facilities in the downturn.  One good place for the government to spend money actually. Not everyone has a DSL connection and an iPad to read books on when they want.

I live in NY City and know some sanitation workers this wasn't a case of the unions trying to send a message to the mayor. We now have a mayor putting out information to cover up the city's poor planning and effort to save a few dollars. In fact the Manhattan area of NY city was plowed very well no problems at all. If the union really did this the mayor would have been the first one to publicly say so not some city councilman.

I had to leave in 1994, could not get healthcare there anymore. I remember NY as a Wild West in the '70s, and the citizens really took the city back in the 1980s. I was just there in June for 3 days and people seemed so zonked! I got scared and ran. 1998, what an upbeat city for a visit, though! 1994 was wretched, that is when I left. xo

Why can't we fucking run on a saturday schedule because it's a "holiday week". They were sending trains every 1 hour instead of 30 minutes and wouldn't even open the doors because the entire train aisles were stuffed (not subway, but train). They've been making us wait for the next train which all the people denied have to somehow crowd on.

Even if the ambulance never did arrive the baby should not have died the mother was perfectly capable of nursing the newborn and keeping him or her warm so the mother was neglectful. The cord could have easily been cut as well with whatever sharp edge was available and tied off with what ever was available many newborns survived being born long before there were even hospitals or ambulances the mother dropped the ball.
