Yeah this was a great series the first two years and went to pot in the third season. I stopped watching it by then because the writing was so bad. I thought Robert Hewitt Wolfe resigned, but he was fired? Lemme guess, Sorbo wanted more air time?
The Magog World Ship has to be the one of the best Planet Killers/Superweapons in the history of Sci-Fi. Not only does it carry trillions of very hungry Magog but can also shoot you...with miniature black holes. It's only downside is that it is extremely slow moving but hey just let the good guys come to you and either let them get eaten or get their ships blasted apart by projectiles that never miss.
@Fbueller129 Spot on a great set up to what was supposed to be a great 3 to 4 year run! Producers beware. Do not kill the chicken that lays the golden eggs. Especially if you don't see these eggs for what they really are, priceless.
Robert Hewitt Wolfe was THE man behind the well thoughtout plots of seasons 1 and 2. Kevin Sorbo had him fired off the production team because he wanted Andromeda to be more like the previous series in which he stared, "Hercules." Sorbo, in effect, destroyed Andromeda by having Wolfe fired. What an asshole.
@ImperatorDerGalaxis Sorbo had nothing to do with it.. He was in the end just an employee as well.. It were the damn producers which fired the main story writer. The creative head that came up with this idea in the first place inspired by those few scripts from roddenberry. That was the end for Andromeda regarding creative story structure and after the series end - the end for the producer company as well.
A brilliant show in it own right. The graphics were fine for its day. Its the storyline not the graphics that people should be more interested in with Andromeda
Talk about your darkest hour. This was probably the worst damage Andromeda suffered and the worst the crew have had. Everyone is almost dead, and the ship is FUBAR. The resolution wasn't that good though, and it seems odd that when the PS weapons hit the hull, it is clean of Magog ships and damage from them, and despite the giant gaping holes, the ship flies fine, although it was just sitting there getting shot before.
Yea the CGI was one of the bad things about the show. I wouldn't mind if it wasnt great quality as long as we got consistancy. I liked the early seasons of this show but feel it was a let down in later seasons.
I agree, they used way too much stock footage and mostly they used it in an incorrect and lazy way.
By far the second season was great and I enjoyed most of the eps, but not much after season 3, except "The Dissonant Interval pt 1&2" Some of the best eps in Andromeda, especially with that song. God I want that song.
Lazy doesn't really exist in television. Budget problems exist. A lot of canon decisions on TV are effectively the cause of budged, the network only pays you that much money and you can only do that much with it. The Borg were intended as insects, not as cyborgs, but the budget couldn't afford it, the whole concept of assimilation appeared later. The Hive mind was the important thing that started it
@isaned You mean towards the end. It is from the sound track. I have it on CD. Hmm. think I wiped it from my MP3 folder... I forgot how much I loved the track playing while the ship is like... "CODE RED OFFICERS DOWN IN COMMAND..."
Considering the largness of the Andromeda and how small the Magog swarm ships are, you wouldn't necessarily see them on the hull unless the camera zoomed in further.
If you'll note that dozens of swarm ships are capable on locking onto just the nose?
Thats because Andromeda's Hull was interlined with nano bots. So external damage could be repaired. But damage to the super structure of the ship would still need to be repaired in Dry dock.
Oh, this is my second favourite episode!! I like that strange sound at 0:56 and that awesome music at 1:06!!! Andromeda is a very fantastic and great TV series!:)
Man, I loved that Magog Death Chant.... That's how evil aliens should make an intro

Great ending truly epic I love when they mix sci-fi and mythology. The Magog in pursuit of their god and their World Ship was brilliant

Nice throw back by Beka at 1:08. You can tell that wasn't staged! (that is sarcasm to those who are less familiar with it).

This series had so much potential. It's a shame Sorbo's giant ego had to get in the way.

This show was so great, then they had to fire Robert Hewitt Wolfe and it went all to shit. It's all Kevin Sorbo's fault. FUCK YOU SORBO...seriously.

@ImperatorDerGalaxis What happened? Why is it his fault.

Yeah and the storyline sucked.

@gribae After the second fall of the common wealth the storyline seemed rushed. Like they did 4 more seasons in 1.

May have been an uneven show on the whole, but any Magog cliffhangers rocked (Seasons 1 adn 4)
