We're making completely different projects completely! As of this month, we're creating entire scenes. Beaches, Restaurants, Bowling Alleys! You seem so lucky compared to us :P
I have been watching some of your videos because my drafting teacher told me about Full Sail. We have only worked with Autodesk Inventor though, do you know if Maya is in any way similiar to Inventor

Not at all. Give them a call and they will help you get in. It felt like they were fighting for me to get in to the Computer Animation Degree. The government also pays a good chunk of tuition with the pell grant also.
@Toysrus7 Full Sail is a credited university, you leave with bachelors and masters degrees...If you want to learn on the internet and are autodidact enough to teach YOURSELF, Gnomon is a very good program, but It would take someone much longer.
@Toysrus7 That's definitely true, however, someone who has a B.S will have an advantage over someone without, especially if the reel competes with others. Also the pay scale would be more with a degree. Full Sail gets production pipeline experience for half a year working directly with programmers and that's a HUGE plus when looking for employment.
@TheCreativeItch i completely agree with the pipeline experience. Although having 1 year of experience would contribute in a much larger scale than a BA. Really man. This industry is the one that cares the least about suits and degrees.
@TheCreativeItch lol yes. and no, they don't ask you in interviews about your BA or MA or whatever. they just ask you how you did this and that in your demo reel.
@Toysrus7 I've just seen you spewing hate on other artists demo reels here on YouTube. You're just another troll. If you think college doesn't help, you couldn't be more wrong. Good luck creating a demo reel, It's obvious you don't know what you're doing....
They sure are, I didn't know a thing about 3d before I came here. I never touched a 3d application before attending, but knowing a little bit will give you an edge over other students.
Definitely, but now days no one really uses NURBS being the tools for polys have gotten better. You will find an instance where you'll need to use one or another in a pinch, so it's good to know them both.
Hey man ! I like your videos + im intrested to go to Full Sail Un. ! Im learning now at home Maya + Zbrush . I was ordering the information package what you was telling us in the 14 or 15 vid.
I have 2 question to you : 1.How necessary is the draw skill to start the uni. couse im not so god in drawing .
2. I think im not so bad in English language but is any people there they are not from USA ?
@TheCreativeItch YESS!!!!! I was never sure if colleges actually used 3ds max. I gotta learn Maya now... I've been using 3ds max for 3 years now... Junior in highschool.
So where did u get Maya 2009? Is it the student studen version...lol No worries..bout 95% of the students has it. Shading and lighting is cool. Its not as hard as it was when Larry was there..he was one of the "filters" that determined if u were going to have 20 kids in ur class or 15. Scary crap. Hope ur time at FS is good. Dont worry, Its getting better, and thngs will get easier down the road.
Hey there, I am going to Full Sail in August. Do you think Gerbs will still be used by then or not. Also do you have any recommendations on how to get a head start in Full Sail. Since Im doing computer Animation.
Nurbs will most likely still be a small part of your model creation class, but you'll be converting everything to polygons. I'd suggest getting familiar with the basics of Maya, that will give you a head start, but honestly the classes will all seem foreign to you, it's normal.
The cost of education in this country is too much, and in my opinion, shouldn't cost as much as a home. However, I DO believe the education I'm getting here supersedes that of which I'd get elsewhere.
I go to fullsail and you have to keep in mind even though it costs 70 grand, once you graduate you can come back and take any course (in your degree program) for the rest of your life for free, cant really beat that.
WOW! They completely changed the course up!!

@cameronmiller011 In some ways yes, they both offer tools using NURBS, but as far as I know Inventor is closer to AutoCAD.
TheCreativeItch 1 year ago
Yeah I agree. Learn a little aout anyhting you want do at full sail. My cousin learned that the hardway.

@Penzills lol anyone with a GED gets accepted. It's a business, not a school. For serious schools try Vancouver SVE, Gnomon SVE

@TheCreativeItch Trust me, if you want to be a CG artist, no company will care about your BA, only your demo reel.

There not too bad, easier to build sometimes, and you can always convert to polys.
TheCreativeItch 2 years ago

i thought they would have made new projects since larry santaw left the school
HyaSan 2 years ago

I'm in computer animation, it's for both video games, and film. If your in Game Development, it's all programming, not much art at all.
