  • @Das41- Did you mean the one with- I'm the only Me as far as I can see? They were saying to the chorus in multiple squares there.

  • My heart just melted...joy.

  • Just curious, was there an episode of M.I.P. where music played and the screen was multiple squares scrolling from left to right, each containing an animated image? I think it may have starte with a girl going to sleep, but I'm not sure. One of those things you remember but can't find anywhere on the web.

  • I grew up with this in the mornings on tv. I miss it. TV was so much fun and better than today. Colourful, cheery and less materialistic as it is now.

  • I remember this song too! I miss these kids' shows!!!

  • The chorus of this song is seared into my memory, and I don't even remember where I heard it as a kid. Although I must not have learned the lesson because I've grown up to be a perfectionist/OCD-er anyway. Thanks for posting!

  • Thanks, "meandemjay," for posting a nice comment. Yes... type in "pastyoureyesed" and you will see my sons playing with the gift their grandfather gave them: the talent of music!

  • I love it! I began singing this song (Oops, you made a mistake that's all) to my daughter who is a perfectionist and needs to let mistakes happen. I found this and showed her because I couldn't remember all of the words. She loves it, and so do I! It brings back so many childhood memories!!!!!

  • Classic TV show I enjoyed watching.

  • What is the best decade of all time....The 70's THe 70's THE 70"S THE SEVENTYS

  • Wow, does this bring back some memories!!!

  • Wow thank you so much for posting this, I have been singing this to my grandchildren but I couldn't remember anything but the chorus.I loved this song when I was a child and it taught me so much. Now I've found it so now I can share it with them and we can sing it together .They are going to to love it!

  • Wow, such memories! When i was a little girl I would spill, drop and break things because I had poor vision. But my mom would yell at me, call me a clutz and kids would laugh at me! This cartoon actually helped cheer me up and gave me some perspective! Ooops, I made a mistake- that's all! :)

  • THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for posting this! I too sing this song to this day when something happens and think I'm a better person for it!!! Yayyyy!!!!

  • what the fuck

  • These were aired on WLVI in Boston in the late '70s. They came on at about 1:55 p.m., after The Banana Splits.

  • Thanks for the post. This jingle remains with me 40 years after watching them as a child. Thanks, Mr. Worth.

  • Loved this one!

  • I LOVED this one!

  • I remember this! Was it on Sesame Street? Captain Kangaroo?

  • @Sheri451

I definitely remember seeing these on Captain Kangaroo in the 1970's.

  • @Perlinator67 I knew I'd saw it somewhere. I loved Captain Kangaroo. Do you remember the toothbrush song? Brush Your Teeth, Round and Round, Circles Small, Gum's and All, A Small Soft Toothbrush The Round and Round Way, Will Keep your Mouth happy The Round and Round Way, So Please Very Carefully Three Times A day Go Round and Round.

  • WOW. Churning up the memories. I remember the "I cried and cried" part, specifically. And, of course the intro/song... when the credits rolled, I remembered the little hairy guy sliding down on the rope, too, which was crazy!!! I was around 5ish when I first saw these. GREAT POST! Thanks.

  • That's my mom cutting with scissors :]

  • This particular episode was probably the most popular of all the segements...

  • OMG I remember this video....I think

  • man this takes me back why they dont show this stuff now or do up to date versions for the children now , whats crazy i know all these episodes

  • We did a Cub scout skit based on this and took first place. First out of 3 teams. (Heavy Competition) I think we all received an extra ice cream bar as the prize. A big deal back then. Thanks for posting!

  • Unlike most episodes of this series, this one has no dialogue scenes. The entire thing is one long song.

  • Awee man, this are really good for children selfsteem

  • fun times 70's, it's fun to learn!!!

  • Did any of these cartoon deal with some real touchy issues like death?

  • Does anyone know the lyrics of the third line of the opening theme? I can never make out the part that comes after "Come on, we'll show you".

  • @Perlinator67 I'd like to know that too.

  • Thank you so much for posting this.

TV program's back then had more meaning and

    care then today's TV program's.

  • 1:56 is the only visual i remember-the big splash

i remember the song, the first part, & just the rest of the song but not the situations

  • Wow. I remember this airing alot in the mid-late 70s (I was born in 1969) in New York City (Brooklyn), though I forget the channel it was on.

  • WHOA NELLY!!! I remember this on the Field Communications station Channel 48 in my hometown of Philadelphia. This was the sister station to Channel 32 in Chicago.

  • This i never seen this on cable in the Philippines

  • These are GREAT! If anyone can find A Time for Joya/Joya's Funschool please post!

  • Wow -- thanks, everyone, for the positive comments -- and especially to the archivists who shared the clips. My dad (Stan Worth -- who died back in 1980) wrote the music for these along with the creators of the series, and my sister and I helped with the soundtrack. He also wrote the music for George of the Jungle, Super Chicken, Tom Slick, and other great stuff!

  • @PastYourEyesed - This IS great stuff. Hope you're still at it. This stuff taught me A LOT as a kid growing up in the 70s. My condolences to you for your loss, but know that your dad's work made a HUGE impact and his work IS remarkable and fabulous. I'll show this to my grand kids someday. This is great stuff :)

  • @PastYourEyesed All of you helped shape my childhood and I can't thank you enough. These are beautiful songs and lessons. Did your father write "It's a big country so why should your dreams be small"?

  • Maybe you should have tried a little harder you dummy

  • OOPS I DID IT AGAIN!!

  • I thought I'd never see this again! I remember it being known as "Snippets" or something like that; I had completely forgot about "The Most Important Person" title. I'm drowning in memories right now. Thank you so much for uploading!

  • Hey shut up, the poor kid made a mistake. Not like you never did.

  • @HemmHon At least none of the real life kids in this video didn't cry when they made a mistake

  • 1:57 fuck you milk

  • This film was created to stop the spread of cry baby pansy asses that were sprouting up across the country in the late 60's / early 70's.

  • yeah because the kids these days arent cry baby pansy asses right?

  • It was also aired regularly on KBHK TV 44 in San Fransisco.

  • LOL that's the station I remember it from, too!

  • My younger brother and I use to watch this when we were kids. Now we're all grown up and he works for my construction company. Sometimes, when he messes up I start singing this song, ad libbing the verse to fit the situation. It always cracks us both up.

  • Incredible how longs it's been.

    Classic,

    Thanks. :)

  • Thanks for sharing something i hadn't seen in years.

    Possibly thirty or more.

    Thanks again- :)

  • I've never seen this before--thank you for sending it to me.

  • Oh my goodness, I was just looking for this on youtube last night but couldn't find it. Thank you so much for this, definitely a flash from the past!

  • OMG where did you get this?? I TOTALLY remember this like it was yesterday - only I thought I was the only one!

  • I've had this song in my head for 30 years! What a flashback, thanks!

  • What a refreshing reminder if an era when 5 year old American girls didn't wear jewelry or lipstick.

  • I remember in kindergarten we watched these on the film projector... CRAZY! That furry green thing at the end too... he sticks out in my mind but i dont know why... lol something with him wiping ice cream out of his fur? idk but :)

  • My gosh how the memories came back! We would watch this in school and I remember evrything. It was brand new then too! There was even a girl with those pointy glasses in class just like in the intro!

  • To add to this, we had a TV on a huge stand with these large reel to reel players underneath. Aaaahh old technology!

  • Oh, god, I remember this show from when I was a toddler! It came on after several shows (right after THE MARVEL SUPER HEROES, for example)! I loved this show, and Mom and I would sing songs from this show.

    Thanks for bringing it back!

  • Wow- It's probably been 35 years since I've seen that. It's amazing how at 40 years old I can remember watching channel 32 when I was in kindergarten. Thanks.

  • Whoops, you fucked up! No big.

  • OH. MY. GAHD!!! :D

I just stumbled on this! I didn't know anybody else had these! I was THREE and in parochial preschool when I saw these on a film projector! And one time for fun our teacher ran one of the film BACKWARDS! (pre-backmasking days)...it sounded weird! :D

Thank you for posting these! :)

  • this was the BEST one of the series!

  • Cool vid 5 stars

  • wow brings back memories. Growing up in the

70's is so incredibly different from growing up today.

  • The 70's rock! I lived it and remember almost everything during that decade.

  • Back when Chicago TV was so damn good....WFLD TV channel 32...

  • Dont cry over spilled milk, I'm suprised they didn't exploit that.

  • got milk?

  • UHHHH! This song is stuck in my head now!!!! I remember it from a kid and WOW! The nostalgia. Thanks so much for these postings!

....and I felt so bad that I cried and cried...

See? STUCK IN MY DAMN HEAD!!!

  • THIS IS FUCKING INCREDIBLE!!! I'VE been dying to see these on youtube for the longest time!!!!! I'm so HAPPY!!

  • I agree with everyone else, this is great!

Amazing the quality of the audio and video after 37 years! It's held up amazingly well.

  • I used to watch this on WFLD too OMG! Like when I was 6 or 7.

  • Sherman got nailed.

  • this is cool but the kids sound like they're out of their misery though, lol.

  • I used to watch this on WFLD 32 in Chicago when i was a kid growing up in South Shore on the South Side of Chicago. This is great memories thank you for posting this.

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting these. I sing this ALL the time. It's the funniest thing in the world. Man, instant time warp to being a kid in the 1970s. Thank you!

  • Thank u for the memories! I 37 and I do remember this very well. I sing and people forgotten this now maybe the video will jar their memory!

  • This reminds so much of when I lived at Armitage and Seminary across from St Theresa Church.

  • I sing this "mistake" song to my wife when we do it doggy and it acidentally slips into her ass.

  • lol

  • Your killing me!!! Never thought I'd see this again! Brings back such precious childhood memories. Thank you so much. God bless.

  • Great memories, takes me back to first grade.

  • Yeah, I'm singing this tune constantly at work. Somehow upper management doesn't express the same sentiments as found in this song.

  • TEMPmichealhansen, you'd get in trouble if you spilled milk? Geez. You have that strict of parents? Really, it's spilling milk. Not that big of deal. Would you seriously be punished?

  • OH MY GOD i feel like i'm 7 again!!!!

it's really weird seeing this after thinking about if for years and years and you only have the vaguest memories of it. my god it all rushes back :o

  • OMG, I have not seen this in ages!!! This is truly 'ol school!!!

  • When you get older, mistakes have bigger consequeces.

  • That doesn't mean you should beat yourself up about it.

  • its hard to unlearn Guilt from christianity/catholosism/whatever upbringing/raising.

  • "The Most Important Person" was a series of 66 short subjects for children that related, through animation, live-action, and music, important topics in a youngster's life. The subjects in this series dealt with, for example, dental health, friendship, trying new things, making mistakes, and caring for others.

  • WHERE IS THE ONE OF WHERE THE BIRD WANTS TO SLEEP (comes in contact with a cowboy on a billboard talking to it) AND THE BIRD GOES FROM PLACE TO PLACE TO SLEEP Also the one where "Where does the tomato go?" and the game show on tv (avaliable elsewhere) yes yes also at the 1:57 mark, if I did that I would be punished like you wouldnt believe.

  • where is my comment?

  • OMG!!!!!! I just laughed and cried at the same time out of pure joy!!!!!! REMEMBER THIS????!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!

  • Watching this is like stepping into a time machine and going back to the summers of my childhood in the early-mid 70's-wonderful memories.

  • totally sweet i mean can't i give you more than 5 stars??!!! i'm trying to do something you are involving old/exsisting south side chicago youth baseball leagues

  • Man i used to watch this when i was kid.Thank you for bringing a little piece of my childhood i really need this.

  • THANX FOR PUTTING THIS ON!!!!!!!

I Remember watching this on WPIX TV everyday back in 1977!!!

  • Hey! How cool is this!?! My brother was one of the little kids that appeared in quite a few of the 66 "episodes" (at least that's the number at IMDB)- any chance you'll be posting more of these gems? (Of course, little bro - now 40 - isn't in any of the ones I've found so far). Ah, what a lot of fun memories of trying to catch these on Captain Kangaroo (Channel 2 in Los Angeles), and racing to make it to school on time... Mahalo nui loa for the memories!

  • I remember this. It used came on WFLD 32 Chicago. I missed being a kid.

  • Same here. Somehow, I always thought this showed up on WTTW. Or maybe I'm getting this mixed up with something on the "Electric Company."

  • WTTW-Channel 11 definitely did show them at one point. I am not sure of the exact years, but it was while WFLD was still showing them, but several years after WFLD had started airing them (late 70s?). WTTW would cut off most of the opening song, leaving only the segment title, and replaced the end title sequence with a generic slide (white text on a black background) with the same info plus a small illustration of Hairy sliding down the rope). Why in the world do I remember this?

  • @cubdukat Channel 11 use to show this in 1980 early 81 in the afternoon. i remember they cut the song on WTTW right b4 up and Coming.

  • I remembered myself, I've seen these on WKBS Channel 48 in Philadephia, Pa.

  • Me too - great memories!

  • Yeah, great memories. I was so disappointed when channel 48 went off the air. Weren't you? Esp. before Fox 29, My PHL 17, and CW 57 they were all independent stations.

  • absolutely - I spent many, many hours watching those channels!! A HUGE part of my childhood.

  • Did you remember Wee Willie Weber?

  • I felt so sorry for these kids. I felt their pain.

  • Thanks for posting! I remember these on UHF channel 32 in Chicago. They definitely stuck in my head too -- I am so glad to see them again. However, in my memory the song was a lot faster for some reason.

  • Whoa! A Disco Remix?

  • The TV Station in Detroit, Michigan put these segments in the Middle of "Speed Racer". Unfortunately they Cut almost four minutes of footage to make room for them. Enough people must have complained, because they moved them to another Show a few weeks later, restoring the Footage they had cut.

  • OUCH! Right in the middle of the show? They used to come on during Huck & Yogi between the short episodes but not during the actual episode. I used to call and complain because I wanted to watch my cartoons and this used to annoy me. But guess what I did for old times sake? I cued up a YouTube short I put on my Dukes of Hazzard DVD it shows the preview then the beginning then fades to black, I hit pause and scoot over to the computer and play the short and then unpause the DVD

  • I remember these. I think this one was my all time favorite. I used to stack blocks so high that they would topple. That used to make me laugh. But it would upset me if one of my cousins came over and intentionally wrecked a building I made though. But that chunky kid was really just crying over spilt milk.

  • Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for posting this! Almost brought tears to my eyes watching this. Memories...

  • I have been thinking about this clip for decades. It's easily been thirty years since I saw it. Unbelievable. Thank you for posting it and everything else. I grew up in Northern Indiana and had a steady daily diet of Chicago television.

  • Love it ! I know this one by heart and it has to have been 35ish years since I have seen it.

  • I remember these,I think, from pre-school!

I still have a MIP purple button somewhere with a cartoon boy and girl on it that I got circa 1973!

Toon A Rama, do you know how many of these were produced?

  • The figure I keep reading is 66. However, I am not sure if that refers to just "The Most Important Person" or both "MIP" and "The Kingdom Of Could Be You" combined (I know there are 16 of the latter). I don't have a list. If there's a reliable complete one out there, I'd love to see it.

  • OMG! I've been transported back in time! I remembered the refrain of this song and have been singing it for decades.

    You gotta love You Tube!

  • Yeah! I've been looking for this song and video forver.

  • i have had this theme song stuck in my head for the past 35 years lol. finally i found where i got it from. thanks

  • Yes! So true gio512. For 35 years a little voice in my head has been singing 'Whoops! I made a mistake, that's all...' any time I spilled something. Insidious! It's weird how the memories of images like this never really faded after all. They've just been waiting all this time to be reaccessed.

  • These segments aired on WFLD-TV in Chicago before WFLD-TV was bought by the FOX Broadcasting Company in 1986.

  • In New York, "TMIP" aired on WPIX (Ch. 11) around the late 1970's/early '80's, if a cartoon show ended before the 28-minute limit (or 58 minutes, if an hour show).

On another tangent - you suppose the title of this installment could've been an inspiration for that of a certain Britney Spears record . . . ?

  • We got these in Toronto as well via the Buffalo channel! Lol. I totally remember this. Saturday morning, Tang orange juice, and Count Chocula cereal. Sigh ...

  • very nazi

  • You know who else liked to make inflammatory comments?

  • My sister and I have been trying to find these cartoons for a while. Thanks for posting this!!!

  • Ha! These are a YouTube wish come true for me..! I used to check all the time for these cartoons last year. Thanks so much for these. What a nice surprise.

  • i saw this one in my first grade class back in the late 70's, wow such nostalgic memories!

  • I love this one.

i used to watch this on WKBW as well!!

Commander Tom....wow! talk about going back

    thanks!

  • You have to be smarter than the milk.

  • This brings back memories of the Commander Tom Show on WKBW Channel 7 in Buffalo, New York.

  • GOD BLESS YOUTUBE!!!! AND BLESS YOU TOONORMA!!!!! I had forgotten all of these cartoons until my boyfriend brought this song up!

  • God bless you,ToonORama, for posting my childhood memories!:)

  • I'm looking for an episode of MIP which has a song in it with the line: "There are many different kinds of love" in the chours.

  • #3223 ("Different Kinds Of Love")

I have it on film, but not on a You Tube-friendly format.

  • OMG, so cute. I came looking for this because I had a dream about that little green guy that was in some of these cartoons. I remember thinking when I saw this as a kid, that the kid trying to ride the bike should have given it up.

  • Wow!!! I have searched and searched for this. I almost cried when I saw this. Thank you for posting this. It reminds me of sweeter days gone by.

  • In other words, you "felt so good that you cried and cried?"

  • I just now read your comment and I got a laugh. Yes, I laughed and laughed....you are funny and I like your sense of humor and quick wit. Thanks again for uploading this video, besides feeling old,(LOL) I enjoyed watching it again.

  • Thanks, glad to know my remarks are taken in the spirit in which they're intended (especially in the cold text of the internet). Well, maybe you don't need to feel THAT old. These shorts did air for a number of years after they were first produced, so that buys you some time...

  • "...'cause I really tried..!"

  • I can't believe I'm getting misty-eyed and nostalgic over this. greatest post I've come across in awhile.

  • Thank you so much for posting this!I loved watching this as a kid and i have been searching for this cartoon for years Thanks!!!

  • so gay

  • Actually, if these shorts had been made in 2007 instead of 1972, one of the kids would have to be gay!

  • Some live action footage of kids making mistakes is repeated twice or 3 times.

  • Thanks again for the great posts, Toon!
