  • "Strong rotation?!?" Yeah, I guess that's one way of putting it...!

  • Did this hit the town itself or just go nearby?

  • @dragonridley It hit the industrial park on the west edge of town. Really lucky actually, since it was headed straight toward Rock Valley but changed direction just before it got there. I was driving home and was almost there when I saw this beast heading straight for where I live. It was awesome in a freaky way haha.

  • Radio: "we don't have anything confirmed on the ground yet" haha. That's the BIG problem with radio, television and NOAA weather radio reports. Lots of times, those reports are 5 to 10 mins. LATE. I know they do their best, they really do. But there is just simply a logistical time lag between the spotter on the ground contacting the tv or radio station, and the station relaying that report to the on-air guy. The avg. citizen simply must ALSO keep a vigilant eye on the sky during these times.

  • Let's jump in your pool :P

  • How can you sand there for 30 seconds looking at that monster...I would be pissing my pants right there...

  • I would stand there as long as I could.

  • This tornado was partially filmed for the Discovery Channel show "Storm Chasers". The episode was on earlier tonight (11/2/08).

  • "nothing confirmed on the ground"

yet that thing is huge lol.

  • I would be so scared...

  • hahaha...

funny video, love the subtlety with the report in the background

    very nice!

  • Yet another reason trained spotters and chasers are needed "strong rotation has been detected nothing has been confirmed yet" lol

  • Haha you've got to love the weather service, "there is nothing confirmed on the ground" coming form the television and your staring it "right in the face"

  • vwaldoguy has a vid about this tornado too.

  • Thats pretty freaky seeing a tornado that close I bet

  • It was almost a mile away even though it doesnt look like it, not the smartest thing we ever did I agree

  • way to hang in there and continue videoing

  • dang that tornado is HUGE! glad nobody was hurt!

  • hey whoever was in rv at the time respond to me w/ your name and where u were at the time

  • Nobody was hurt in this storm but there was some old guy farmer dude who was on the news that took cover behind a crapy old wooden fence lol. there were i think 6 confirmed tornadoes in that area.

  • there was 7 confirmed in the area that evening

  • Honey! Theres a tornado in the front yard again! Someone has nerves of steel.

  • @RedneckResponder My mom has nerves of steel, she shot it.

  • what was the address you took this vid from? i live on 15th street in rock valley

  • 12th st across from the ballpark

  • Hey...I was across the road at the time :) It was definitely scarey.

  • How scary! I would have fainted if I saw that. Great video! Hope everyone in your area was OK.
