But your approach really seems to interpret the poem effectively. Maybe it's your style of music here (folk? "unplugged" rock?) that makes it work. But your video is cool and interesting.

If you really like Auden, may I reccommend "As I Walked Out One Evening" and "The Sea and the Mirror"? Those, too have a lot of intense imagery and dark thems. You might like them. But their structure is a lot more complicated, so they might be more difficult to combine with music.

The first time I ever heard it was in Four Weddings and a Funeral. It was like 12 years ago, but it touched me so much I always remembered it. But I never knew who it was by until English class in college.

I think it is by far my favorite poem. Truly touching.

I think I can sing it better though. I will try another recording;)

I've been a big Auden fan since I was a kid, and I'm always looking for new ways to enjoy my favorite works. Awhile back, I saw that some groups out there had set some of his poems to music, and I was pretty excited to hear it. But, man, it sounded AWFUL. Maybe it was the wrong type of music ... it was sort of neo-classical or new age.
