I dunno...I've met a lot more "Certified Harley Davidson Master Techs" that didn't know jack than ones who do. Sometimes I wonder if they base it off how many tats they have. This guys sounds knowledgeable enough, but it's kinda like being the best cook at McDonald's...let's face it, these things are akin to a tractor with handlebars-NOT exactly rocket science!! If your HD mechanic doesn't know MACHINES in general, he's probably just regurgitating info he's been fed.

A couple maxi-pads inside the air breather of the Sporty and FLHS works great. No more drips on the cross-over pipe. Got that tip long ago and don't remember where. Change them out every oil change.
Sorry, tell me again (a fouth time) .. you're a 'Certified Harley Davidson Master Technician' is that right? Might be simpler to just buy a decent bike to start with.
@beesdad praytell what kinda bic lighter piece of sh1t alleged motorcycle that has a resale value of a fraction of its original "value" when its only a year or two old do you drive? How about you show me a fifty to a hundred year old rice burner that someone bothered to keep street-able. even looking at ricers from the 70/80's that are still on the road most of them have spent more time in the garage or shed than on the road
@beesdad I ride with one guy that has an 82 FXRS super glide dmv records show it has been licensed every year since manufacture odo said 80,000 in march when he bought it and drove it home since then its rolled over and is now reading 5,000, Another guy I know has a 78 honda cb750 when he got it the odo read 8,000 and the tabs were from1982 he bought it in april and trailerd it home he finally got it on the road about 2 weeks ago after spending about 3 grand on parts
@CrudeDude yeah i ride a slobbering tractor that chews up ricers and spits them out. 94 xl1200 with an S&S 106 kit, kuryakyn hyper charger with K&N air filter, python3 drag pipes, accell hi per. coil, barnett hi per. clutch, and a 40 shot of N.O.S. 0-60 in 3 seconds flat / 50-77 in 200 yards / 1/4 mile in 6.2 seconds all without spray can bake the tire in every gear
It's just how the old bikes were. Twin cams pretty much have this resolved. We call this "sumping". Harley's have a dry sump oil system. V-rods don't use a dry sump system.
