  • 10,342 views! Beautiful! Thanks!

  • NINE THOUSAND VIEWS...WOW!

  • I swear there's nothing sadder than an abandoned Drive-In :0(

  • This footage is originally from my original cable series REQUIRED VIEWING (1979-2007)....the footage was later used in the OUTDOOR MOOVIES spin off. We visited the site again, after the screen was gone, but, it wasn't the same. I love how from one side of the screen, it looks like you could almost show a movie, the other side falling down...very striking images. We walked around for a while, saw a lot of speakers out in the field. I think the snack bar is still there.

  • The more I look at it, this might just be my FAVORITE abandoned site it's screen tower is striking, especially seeing both sides...from the front it looks more intact. I juist posted a couple of new drive in theater segments you'd find enjoyable.

  • Sad ... very, very sad! Dave Lounder (Drive-In Theatre Historian and Former Drive-In Operator)

  • @davelounder Which drive in theater did you run? Was it in Ohio?

  • @RQVOutdoorMoovies No sir, Massachusetts. Dave

  • Great footage and the soundclip just goes perfectly.

  • @motorcyclemad999 THANK YOU.

  • Good job go Michigan state

  • i miss drive in theaters they were cool i rember we would sneak a couple of buddies in the trunk when we would go in.drive ins were a blast.

  • kids now a days would rather hang out at the mall or go to an indoor mega-plex crap than bother with Drive-ins......and land is worth a lot more to some, and DVDs are to stay at home...I grew up in these places,1 by1 the tore them down for Wal-Marts or what ever......some are still going strong,luckily.....

  • @jeepers2655 I've always found it strange that Golf courses seem to thrive. THOUSANDS of drive in theaters disappeared...the building of golf courses never stopped! WHAT IS WITH THAT?

  • Very cool footage of abandoned drive in!

  • my 1st car he@d was at a drive-in!

  • To: ploopterfarm: Yup!

  • Sad...

  • Thank you so much for all the kind comments. I am forever thankful to my friend for posting these original 14 clips from my Public Access TV series and I'ver just begun to post my own at the search word RQVOutdoorMoovies, named after my 2 shows. I will comment more specifically this weekend when I have more time.

  • In the chicago area we only have one drive in movie theater. I remember when there must have been at least 20.

  • I live in Oregon, and was shocked to find out that Newburg, OR still has their drive in open in the summer months! We used to have 3 within easy driving distance....one is now a church parking lot, one is a car dealership, and one has a strip mall planted in it's place. Very sad. It was the perfect entertainment for my parents and their growing family in the 60s and 70s. It makes me sad to know there are generations to follow who will never experience the wonder of a drive in movie...

  • This is so sad. I am 24 years old and have never experienced a drive-thru theater.I sure wish there was a way we could bring them back..

  • I drive up thru Seattle often since i live in Porltand, Oregon, and there is one still on the Interstate 5 corridor- its nice to see it in the summer still in use, during the week its a swap meat/flea market- problem with most of them is that they are so much land and developers come along and see a cash cow and put up apartments or strip malls on the old location of the drive in- its Americana of old I am afraid, I remember going as a kid- nice memories- thanks for posting!

  • All gone now, not a trace. First the screen went down, then the building, then the speaker posts over the years, Very nostalgic to see the video, remember going both as a child and a little older with the clunky speakers that hung on the window, going into the building for popcorn. Before the show they had swing sets in front of the screen for kids to play on till it got dark. All the kids in PJ's so they could just go to sleep in the car.

  • I remember that. The jungle gyms, the swings, the things that rock back and forth. I miss it.

  • Oh and don't forget hiding people in thee car so they can get in for free

  • @marys1000 wow... seems kind of sad then to see it gone to wast. I mean, its kind of hard to see a real peace of american culture get abandoned because the big corporate dudes don't think it's profitable enough. :\ I've never been to one. I remember when I was little there was this really old abandoned one and wanting to go really bad. It's a real shame.

  • shechshire- a real "peace" of american culture? Funny stuff

  • @Cooleemee43 oh yea ha, looks like I spelt it wrong.

  • ssshechshire-I am one of the worst spellers in the world, peice out lol!

  • Nice video but hard to watch. Too painful. Thanks for the memories anyway. :)

  • To Cody 211: Just curious...Is the TRI-TOWN situated between 3 cities?

  • HEY EVERYONE! THERE IS STILL ONE IN USE IN LUNENBURG MASSACHUSETTS CALLED TRI-TOWN DRIVE-IN! FOR PEOPLE WHO DONT HAVE ONE NEAR BY, COME CHECK IT OUT! I know they are now rare, so if you want to check it out, then check it out! The speaker poles are still there, but no speakers on them, so you tune into a radio station(station is listed there). I guess people forgot they were on there window when the drove away, and they broke off. COME AND SEE A MOVE THE CLASSIC 50'S WAY AT TRI-TOWN DRIVE-IN!

  • To: ernest bungle 26... VERY cool comment! those friday nights sound like a nice memory. Thanks for commenting.

  • Yea my Grandmother lives in Albion and I remember going with my Dad to the albion drive in while he metal detected,i'm 28 and its been closed for as long as I can remember but my Mom grew up in Albion and said on Fridays you had to get there early or you wouldn't get a spot,VERY cool post.

  • Congratulations RQVOutdoorMoovies on your first posting. I've really enjoyed the michigandriveins postings from your old show. Problem is, the only way people can see the very cool abandoned Miles drive in (not as decayed as the Albion) is to type into search "drive in theaters from RQVOutdoorMoovies" Very odd, not listed anywhere else. Drive In Fans, if you enjoyed the Albion, check out the hidden drive in mentioned above.

  • i went to a drive in yesterday it was so awesome i luv da 50's!!

    it was in baltimore

  • SPOOKY!

  • I think you could charge admission to these shuttered drive ins. These videos are certainly popular. Popcorn, anyone?

  • Haunting..... It's sad to see something so wonderful about to become almost extinct.

  • If I hadn't been paranoid, I could have loaded the car trunk full of speakers!

  • I literally tripped over what was probably the last speaker from the Albion Drive-In a few years ago. It was half buried in the dirt way in th back of the lot.

  • Sad ... very sad! Dave Lounder, CT (Drive-In Theatre Historian and Former Operator)

  • I wonder what the last movie to play there was? Does anybody know?

  • @tvdinnerguyable It had to be a porn flick. They showed adult movies the last 10 years of their existence.

  • I fin ally got hooked up to the internet after years of going to the library or friends house. Naturally, one of the first things I did was click on you tube broadcast yourself to check out the drive in postings. I didn't really bother with anything but homework before, buit now I can relax and have fun. These abandoned drive ins have a strange appeal. They are like ghost towns and are nice to visit here on You Tube. I also liked the intermission audio.

  • I took a short break from watching the Ohio trip to watch this clip. How long was the drive in closed before you took those pictures? Now I'm going to watch Ohio Trip part two!

  • To driveinnut61: Outdoor movies sounds like it was an entertaining public access show. It's nice that your friend can post these videos for you. The Albion looked like the typical small town drive in. I checked out a map of Michigan and yep...it's a small town. You have to assume that what ever goes up on the site will be boring compared to the drive in. I wouldn't be surprised if they never built any thing there. What a waste.

  • thanx for posting the vidio, and who has the missing chunk of screen. lol and how did they get it?

  • I've never been to a closed down abandoned drive in theater, so, it was interesting to watch. It's almost as though the sounds of the old intermission reel are lingering at the site. I can see where it would be nice to visit a ghost drive in. The screen tower was weird because in the front the gaping hole is like a rectangle but from the other side it looks a lot worse. That sure was a small snack bar but I guess Albion is a small town. Too bad they couldn't patch the screen and reopen!

  • You said... "When I was a kid on vaction with my mom and brother, we stopped at a BIG BOY that was next door to a shuttered drive in that had been turned into a salvage yard."

Where was this Big Boy and drive-in/salvage yard at?

Must have been a cool shindig eh?

  • Where was that salvage yard drive-in!?

  • god thats so sad. Two speakers still remain...all alone.

  • I have the last speaker from here.

  • So sad....... We had the Starlite,Pioneer,Holiday,Peoria and The Bellvue. All gone now, since 1989!

  • Cool footage.

  • Very cool footage. Too bad they couldn't rebuild the place.

  • What a shame. Looks like it was a beautiful place. Sorry I never got to see it in operation.

  • So..so sad that they let this place go. I wish there were more dive-ins around.

  • It looks pretty much the same now. The screen is gone of course, but the vandalized snack bar and lots of weeds remain.

  • It was pretty dilapidated 20 years ago, so I'm curious -- what's in that spot now?

  • wow, sad, isn't it? never been to a drive in,better late than never, right? great job! thanx!

  • Saw a lot of movies there. used to sneak in there from over by 94 and the bridge. Hard to believe they used to show pornos on a screen that big. I saw flesh gordan there too funny.

  • How depressing.

  • Wow, as a guy who once worked at a drive-in theatre, I am touched by this. Thanks for posting.

  • gone but not forgotten!

  • The old intermission audio was just the right touch!

  • Another piece of Americana gone forever. Sad.

  • WOW! I remember this ozoner. Thanks for the memories!!
