I've just thought...the static wouldn't be there at ALL, 'cos that impiles the signal is lost BEFORE the TV itself shuts down, which wouldn't happen.

It should just go from test card to the snap.

@Pixel1962 Actually, the static belongs there. Test pattern... station turns the signal off, resulting in static ... I turn off the TV and go to bed.

The 'snap' is not bad, but the dot left in the middle of the screen would be pure white - the dying point of the electron beam that 'writes' the picture on the screen.

That's real TV static that I recorded from my television by recording a few seconds when the TV was tuned to an empty channel. I created the wite noise with a random frequency generator in my sound editor.
