hey james, awsum review on the extreme.. just a bit of info though, i got a fenix L1D and a TK10 as my first two high end flashlights and thought they were awsum, i then got the nitecore extreme tactical bezel model like yours and believe me nitecore blow fenix out of the water with quality, overall design and brightness capabilities. i admit ive never owned a surefire but in my oppinion nitecore are the best there is..
Good to know! I kinda hit a snag with my first Nitecore, but it was replaced and I haven't had a problem since.. That was going on 6 months ago and I carry and use the light almost every single day!
surefire are made in the usa and are extremely reliable and rugged. also, the yellow light they shoot is better for night time seeing and for military/police use. just the way it is i guess
yeah because sure fire "made in USA" also the reason why its so expensive i mean the labor cost in the USA is more expensive than labor in China ( Fenix origin ) .
It seems crazy that Made in USA equally 3 times the price tag, but I do understand the ruggedness factor and the idea the color and spill or the light can be more important than total lumen output.
While Surefire does have truer output readings. Their average highest output level is around the 80-100 lumen mark. Which is no where near what other light companies are putting into their lights. But the main thing stopping me from getting a surefire is the one output level.
@macjmillsx I agree with you it's to expensive, there are other brands on the market that offers better performance (or the same) and cheaper, nowadays torchs are extreamly high technology and all come form China.
Haha! I know I do it all to often! Reviewing swords or whatever else I keep saying knife! I'm just so used to reviewing knives.. or I have knives on the brain! ; )
OP Orange Peel Reflector, I do like this Extreme, I only have Fenix models, TK10, PD30, LD20 what i'd like to see is Extreme R2 vs TK10 in terms of output, the other thing that attracts me is the programmable light setting.
IPX8 means you can take it under water up to a certain depth it's something like 20feet for 3 hours to give that rating.
I have always wanted a nitecore..if I get one it'll be the new EZ AA.. 130 lumens on a AAA, says it's the worlds smallest flashlight. I also have a Fenix P3D Q5 and a Fenix TK10 (both amazing!) I think you would really like the P3D Q5!
Hi there thats a very cool light you got there, mine just arrived today & i've been having fun tinkering with the brightness & strobe functions on it, i happen to have the Stainless bezel version of yours which i think looks pretty neat as well..
Yeah that'll be the R2 type led fitted in it, i happen to have a nitecore EX 10 with that same type. i admit the GDP is THE smallest led i have seen yet
I think I would like to get a Fenix next, but basically I was looking for the highest lumen output in the smallest (and coolest looking) package! I think I did ok.. I'm pretty happy with this light and it's bright as hell ; )
Yeah, the extreme is next on my list. I was gonna get that next after my L2D, but I opted for getting the Fenix P1D Q5 and an Olight M20 Premium. The P1D as my keychain light (it's slightly smaller than the extreme) and the M20 as my bright 2xCR132A light. If you're looking for a 2xCR123A light, I highly recommend the M20, it's a bit brighter than the extreme and will run for almost 5 hours on high.

fenix lights are good "bang for the buck" lights. surefire are great, but are expensive and arent that bright!
Jager1988 2 years ago
I could never understand why Surefire lights are so expensive and the lumen output so low compared to Fenix or Nitecore.

I suppose that make sense, thanks!

Surefire's lumen output is low compared to others because other companies state the lights output from the LED.

You got a nitecore extreme as your first "real" flashlight? Damn dude, you hit the ground running, I started out with a Fenix L2D.
