I don't do much hiphop/American street dance, but from many friends that do, I based my opinion and asked a question. I'm trying to learn.
I do a lot of traditional mid eastern dances, mostly egyptian, including a style called sha'abi-- considered their equivalent of rap/hiphop. I also do a lot of dark fusion, see my video for an example. Ignore the fact that it is labeled as having hiphop in it, that was just the label that would best describe it to the audience that was present that night.
I have a lot of friends that do contemporary, modern, hiphop, indian-- they've a broad spread. Makes for interesting shows.
It's the basic bellydance movements taken and put to different music and stylization. More of a goth feel, or a steampunk feel, depends on what the dancer is going for. The term 'dark fusion' refers usually to a specific teacher, Ariellah (look up her vids, she's amazing and an incredibly sweet friend), but there is also a lot of tribal fusion, gothic fusion, etc
Yeah, basically, though quite a few movements are stylized in different ways and there are a bunch of altogether new moves thrown in.
Bollywood actually isn't bellydance xD Bellydance = middle east, bollywood = india. They come from different regions and have different influences... and here I am about to explain and type up a mini-lecture, but that would be far too long xD
