Hi Mr. Vic - I'm a hobby guitarist trying to learn this Thrill song - thanks for the lesson, you do a really great blues/jazz cover, lots of beautiful subtle fancy stuff. from Jeff in Alaska
@elguiliganaique Dear Guilligan, I got some blues backing tracks from a pupil who bought them from Blues backing tracks Site, a good investment would be to purchase B.I.B.(band in a box) check it out on internet, greetings Vic.
@oettgti16s Thank you for your enthusiastic reaction, I'm using 2 single coil Alnico Pro (neck +middle) and Seth Lover humbucker in Bridge position, all pick-ups by Seymour Duncan, greetings Vic.
I showed my 17 yr. old son your beautiful finger style on the BEATLES etc. He flipped! Then his mind was more simpatico to JAZZ .Rock Heads, what are they going to do with us!You make MUSIC my FRIEND. IT's such a JOY !
@harryolefox Thanks Harry, I play from the Inside out (like we say in Zen) ofcourse I've absorbed many influences, but indeed the Love and Joy of Music should always be there. I hope many will enjoy my Stuff, greetings Vic.
You made my day. Keep the SPIRIT. I LOVE your STYLE ! Great choices of material. The videos are just right.Nice and clean .ROCK ON from beautiful GARY,IN.
@Pisest Thank you Gary, you made mine too, here on YT many tend to take everything for granted. Let's say they'll start missing the water when the well runs dry.Vic.
Vic, I always enjoy listening to your play. Your sound is always very clean and crisp and the intonation on all of your guitars is so awesome.... I've heard some very good players on here that could use a setup done on there guitars but this is never and issue with your videos. Very nice, and keep pickin
@adrenalsky Thank you very much for your kind words, indeed I teach my students to do intonation settings on their instruments it's part of the guitar maintainability repertoire, I know some chaps who just enter and start playing with an un-tuned instrument, right away I see there's no love for Music there, cheers Vic.
jimijames1970, it's like you describe, I love both styles Jazz and Blues very much, I've been playing them separately for a while but now this style is evolving in a happy marriage,I'm very content with it,greets Vic.
Thanks, dle777, I'm sweep-picking a C13 over a F79+, if you know the theory off "Tritone substitution" you'll grasp this Idea else it might sound rather abstract to you, anyway I love combining altered playing in Blues it adds vitality and color, Vic.
die 777,thanks well that bended note you're referring too is just a Bluesy thing in B minor pentatonic. The thing is to make convincing statements with feeling, that's what the Blues is all about, greets Vic.
How lovely to take some time out and stop by to watch this wonderful video Vic! I don't think I have been receiving any of your shares lately! :0) 5 stars is never enough to send you for your performances! I hope you are well! Love, Tamara xx
Thanks so much Tamara, it's strange that you don't receive my shares lately,I do send them around but maybe YT limits them in some way,I wouldn't know, anyway I'm glad you liked my Blues, big hug for you,Vic.
Thanks brettwr, that's a difficult question,I know some customize rs like Piet Visser make great necks (he made this one) What I like is the Palsander wood which gives the tone a warmer quality than the regular maple necks.Maybe you can contact a few good customizers.Vic.
Nice to see and hear You with Your fanyastic sounding guitar. A while of relax for me. Is good to see You playing with passion. Wish You much success.
Ha ha, that's a good one Pablo, leave the people wanting for more is better than overplaying, a Zen thought Amigo, like a well prepared meal, enough so you wont go hungry,Lol,Vic.
Thanks Roeleke, I was glad how this one came out, I was strongly thinking on the spacing between the notes, not cranking everything full but space to breath letting the feeling out,Vic.
Thanks for another interesting song.. Everyone seems to hear and play the same thing ---- DIFFERENTLY... So many interesting licks, and neat phrasing , that I never imagined coming out of this song...((((((((@))========%%%
Thanks boneyroney, that's the thing with improvisation, everyone can put in his own imagination and that's the interesting thing, sounding different every time,Vic.
Well this may be The Thrill is Gone, but, for me, this
means 'The Thrill' is back! So wonderful to see and hear you in top form! I hope Curacao was a delight, other than internet -- or maybe the lack of speedy internet was a further delight for a bit!
Thanks Terry, for your awesome words, in Curacao I didn't play at all, just drove around with my brother in law and absorbed the Roots of my childhood (once more). And those 2 weeks did me good,I didn't really miss (fast) Internet, getting away from guitar for a while is great therapy ,seeing all in another perspective. Gurucao is on the map,I created it,lol, hug Vic.
Great playing as always. I thought I noted more of a feeling of "freeness" in your improvisation, more so than usual. The notes just came off as flowing out of you in a more free style and more "right now" feeling. I can't explain it better than that. You mentioned Eelco Gelling, I remember him doing a tune with Golden Earring called Bad Love Coming or something like that, killer guitar licks!
Thanks Rich, I've been experimenting with mixing elementary Blues Stuff with Jazz licks, somehow this direction seems very attractive to me, it's like both styles are feeding eachother in a positive sense,I guess that's what you're hearing here,a very happy marriage indeed, and as for Eelco Gelling,I'll always have him in my Heart,a great Blues man, Vic.

Awsome sound Vic ! The thrill aint gone , just having a sabbatical in you`re finger`s... lol ... Love the jazz influences you bring to you`re peices ....Epic ..in my humble opinion! Ben.
Thanks Soul-brother, we speak the same language,I'm always trilled with your response cause I know this well meant and from a great Musician, respect man and thanks for your ears,Vic.
Thanks so much Ken,you're hearing it all brother, I thought Frank's statement was nice: Walking the fine line between Jazz and Blues, for me the Blues is deep Soul Music. Those guys you mention are the CATS in Blues cause they mix it with Jazz,I love Shuggie Otis too, great Blues man,Vic.
I remember also when I got to hear Stevie Ray play as an opening act for Greg Allman's band.. I got as close as possible.. It was an open rodeo ground and I just stood there amazed at this guy who had his hat tilled and was Jammin' on that guitar !!
Ken, you saw more than me, here in Holland I was glad to see the Allman's with Dicky Betts (Duane wasn't there any more) and Dicky played wonderful with great time and sound, anyway I'm glad we have all those Video's of SRV here on YT.
Unfortunately no, but in later days ofcourse I did,did you ever heard of Eelco Gelling (Cuby&Blizzards) great Dutch Blues and that guy blew my brain in those days, later he became an addict which is a great pity.
I never got to see either Duane or Dicky Betts play..That would have been FUN !! I did see Johnny Winter and Rick Derringer play in the same band.. That was COOL !
Great job mister Vic, greetings from Serbia.

I have many recordings from that period and I think they still sound good especially the solid timing and Spirit that he put in the Music.
