i think antony was able to take a song that was about fun, spontaneity, surprise, etc. and completely shift the mood towards darkness and insecurity, self reflection, and paranoia--the complete opposite reaction... he was able to make his own quite reversed version of an "upbeat" song and still make it wonderful to listen to...truly a great artist.

I've just heard the original version of this song and call me a sanctimonious this-and-that, but I don't think Beyonce celebrates being madly in love - she just creates a product that's meant to sell, and that repulses me. Antony - yes, reflects on what he is singing, infuses it with both feeling and meaning, and that's what makes his performance art, for me. I'm not persuaded by your highest rated comment. Having said that, I don't mind Antony singing Beyonce.
