@robbo25lp you better watch your mouth because I'm gonna jump out of your monitor and kick you right in your face! Of course it's you and Brian on Don't believe a word but it's not you on the next clip called "Sarah". I describe it all on my comments for the clips so get your head straight and open up your eyes before you thrashtalk to someone next time. No wonder why Phill kicked you out of the band he he he (if you are Robbo)
@robbo25lp Lizzy wrote theur best material when Brian was part of the band. Great guitarist but sadly he went off the rails. He's got to be good as he's from Clarkston near Glasgow ;-)
@bloobear1 I met a guy a few years ago who was at school with Brian at Eastwood Secondary. Robbo & Scott's dual guitar attack kicks behemothic arse the width of the Liffey.
@spuffchops70 Cool! A lot of folk don't seem to give him the credit that he was due. I jammed with him at the Dail Inn in the town when I was a kid of 14. It used to be near Drummonds
@bloobear1 Nice one mate. I'd love to see Robbo play but I have a feeling that these days he probably looks like John Martyn did in his latter years, ie limbs missing, etc.
I just Luv Tin Lizzy....Sarah was done for his daughter..kinda sweet...Lynott was amazin up close...way back in those old pariesenne days....thanks for this...
This one is Sarah from 1979 on the Black Rose album. It's about Phil's daughter and yeah, it's the better of the "Sarah" songs.
The other one (the piano one) is from 1973 on the Shades of a Blue Orphanage album and it's about his Grandmother. Probably one of their weakest albums (incredibly rushed).
Read an interview with Gary Moore once who said Scott Gorham could never play the riff to this song...did they ever do it live without Moore I wonder ? I saw them in 1980 and 1981 in Manchester and don't remember them doing it...maybe Gorham couldn't cop the lick on this ? haha
@sjw152 tell your dad he`s got great taste--my daughter was born in nov 2009 after many years of trying and this song just means SO much to me!! and yes shes called sarah too `---EVE SARAH
...something was happining in our life and driving on our way to the outcome of this situation, i heard it on the radio.he played it for me 8 months later when i was pregant with 1st son.....then he played it the other week looking back at what we have gone thru and how strong we still are.... 2 sons 3 & 1,still strong as ever.....brings back memories of the very first time in the car we heard this...thanks for posting this xx

absolutely the best rock band ever in the world, thin lizzy sound even better now even after phils tragic passing;all those years ago,god blessyou phil for all the musical memories that remind of those happy days in the seventies! pablo-ireland
I'm a life long Lizzy nut and I regularly get my fix by seeing Limehouse Lizzy, surely the greatest tribute to ever exist!! Almost as good as the real thing, check em out!!
Hey Jimmer, i saw the band Rude awakening at this place in Huntington Beach. They got this new drummer that has the Downey swing style. They nailed Emerald, suicide, cowboys, boys, massacre. They dont look like lizzie, except the drummer. But they are the best sounding lizie ive yet, just as good as limehouse, better live sound i think...check them out. Google bang your head with mike and ed. video is there...peace!!
Yep agree - Limehouse are good - Wayne is a good mate of mine. However, check out Dizzy Lizzy, they are pretty good too. Front man 'H' looks just like Phil whereas Wayne looks like Arnie with his bulging biceps!! My 3 yr old boy is well into Rosalie, Moonlight, Boys, Sarah and Alibi.....the Lynott legend lives on....
I saw them in 1980 at the SMU Campus in Dallas. One of the best concerts I ever. After their encore no one left and chanted at the stage until they turned the lights back off and played another 15 minutes. I had never seen another band do that before or since and I have been to a lot of concerts. Truly one of the best bands ever.
Yup - fabulous stuff. I was 10 when my elder brothers took me to see Lizzy live at Birmingham Odean, UK in March 1983 on the Farewell T&L Tour. I think it changed my life, I mean seeing Philo strutting his stuff wielding his Black Fender Bass with the mirror scratch plate left an indelible mark on me - true genius and certainly the best front man/song writer the world has ever seen.
That Sarah video was from Top of the Pops.Interesting to see that Gorham was "mimeing" Gary Moores guitar work and solo .Moore left soon after the Black Rose album. The 2 other guys in the band on the vid clip are Dave Flett on guitar and Mark Nauseef on drums .
i prefare robo and moore cause snowy doesnt have the talent to keep up with gorham and... let be honest.... nobody can keep up with moore so its fun none the less but robo has to play lead or he's not a happy camper but haven said that all us guitarists are like that :)

Holy shit! Didn't know Lizzy did a TV thing with Dave Flett and Clive Edwards! Dave played some great guitar for Manfred Mann's Earth Band, and Clive must've jumped straight into Wild Horses with Robbo after this if he wasn't already in it at the time.
The solo on don't believe a word is played by Brian Robertson and the solo on sarah was Gary Moore - but Scott played some beautifully killer solos with Lizzy no doubt.
scott gorham actually wrote all the guitar pieces for the bad reputation album as robinson was on his way out of the band at that stage hence why there is only three ppl on the front cover (philo downey scott) but robinson does feature on the back cover! and gorham is my favourite lizzy guitarist aswell!
not only did scott write all the guitar on the album he played all of robbos guitar parts exept on three songs as robbo was in hospital for most of the album
How can someone play all of Robbo's guitar parts??? dont make sense... he either played them on not, he cant play by proxy! does someone wright all your comments for you?
Hi Clive, was there ever a chance of you taking over permanently for Brian Downey in Lizzy at the time or were you simply on loan from Wild Horses being that you were all mates? It just seems a lil' drastic for a band to do a high profile TV thing with 2 stand-in guys and confuse the fans even though Lizzy seemed to be in flux at the time with a half dozen guys passing thru the ranks within a couple of years. P.S.: Funny how you and Flett look like deadringers for Downey and Robbo from afar.
That's rubbish, and the name is Robertson not Robinson!!! He does play on the album and do you really think anyone let alone Scott could have told Robbo what he was going to play!!!
sorry it is indeed robertson, dont know what i was at there.
anywho what axtually happened according to those there was that the album was recorded while (as someone pointed outrobbo was in hospital) as he had his ligaments slashed in a bar fight and couldnt play. so gorham wrote al the albums recorded all the stuff and at a later stage robbo came in and just went over a few bits and pieces, but the fundamentals and the main body of work on this album is gorhams!

They did some good and proper songs, not some of the crap you hear today. They always sound great live, and the Sarah performance is out of sync and not bad miming.
