  • Yeahhh thin lizzy is the best rock and roll band in the world is pure feeling and love for the rock...I'm from colombia but i love thin lizzy!!!

  • Damn. Who's Left.//????????????

  • One of my absolute favourite songs with this amazing band. R.I.P. Phil & Gary .

  • in the sarah video dave flett is on guitar and bob c benberg of supertramp is on drums benberg deputised for brian downey on a tour in 79 cos downey was ill

  • Now ladie's let's not get the handbags out - it's THIN LIZZY after all - 2 robbo25lp

  • Amazing Talent and a Tragic Loss , Love you always Phil , Sleep well Miss you

  • I am sick of comments posted on u tube in relation to songs that i hold dearly. These comments are usually about people rising to the bait of TRolls (SadOs on the web so lonely that they enjoy argument as a form of communication as the real world will not acknowledge them). Please stop this......its doin me f**kin head in.

  • @SEANBANOG4 As some friends of Phil stated...Never Mind The Bollocks...here are Thin lizzy. Enjoy the music pal!

  • @taekwongr You hit the nail on the head. Cheers! will no longer read the trash but will just tune into the grooves. Thanks for posting.

  • @SEANBANOG4 dont fukin read then problem solved

  • @BAMBOO2545 point noted.

  • i lived beside phil in crumlin dublin and worked with his brother timmy he jammed in local school hall people all over ireland where gutted when god took him ,my daughters is sarah and he lives in irish hearts all over the world

  • Hey there I love Thin Lizzy. I've done a cover of Sarah, you can find it on my channel. Please have a listen.

  • its defo brian downey and its scott gorham and brian robertson on guitar, the live and dangerous lineup basically

  • AWESOME BAND .....

  • Thanks, I remember Dave Flett playing with Lizzy at Stafford with Midge Ure,I didn't realise it was Clive Edwards, who I've seen with Wild Horses.I know Mark Nauseff replaced Downey for a while. Thanks again mate.

  • Any idea who the guitarist is, doesn't look like Gary Moore, and i'm not even sure it's Brian Downey on drums?

  • @hatters99 It's Dave Flett on guitar and Clive Edwards on drums

  • @taekwongr are u retarded? or just no nothing about the band?...its Brian Robertson on guitar and brian downey on drums...next time..get ur fucking facts straight...cos ur talking outta ur arse here

  • @robbo25lp you better watch your mouth because I'm gonna jump out of your monitor and kick you right in your face! Of course it's you and Brian on Don't believe a word but it's not you on the next clip called "Sarah". I describe it all on my comments for the clips so get your head straight and open up your eyes before you thrashtalk to someone next time. No wonder why Phill kicked you out of the band he he he (if you are Robbo)

  • @taekwongr hahahahahahahha, whos saying they're Robbo? :L

  • @robbo25lp Lizzy wrote theur best material when Brian was part of the band. Great guitarist but sadly he went off the rails. He's got to be good as he's from Clarkston near Glasgow ;-)

  • @bloobear1 I met a guy a few years ago who was at school with Brian at Eastwood Secondary. Robbo & Scott's dual guitar attack kicks behemothic arse the width of the Liffey.

  • @spuffchops70 Cool! A lot of folk don't seem to give him the credit that he was due. I jammed with him at the Dail Inn in the town when I was a kid of 14. It used to be near Drummonds

  • @bloobear1 Nice one mate. I'd love to see Robbo play but I have a feeling that these days he probably looks like John Martyn did in his latter years, ie limbs missing, etc.

  • @spuffchops70 Meant to say The Dial Inn. Typo ;-)

  • @robbo25lp its robbo, brian and scott

  • @robbo25lp schut up fucking asscunt that is not brain downey on drums blindfuck

  • @taekwongr IT IS SANTA AND HIS MAGIC ELF....

  • @hatters99 Its Scot Gorahm My speling may be wrong but thats who the axe man is

  • TOTP was always mimed in the 70's and 80's

  • The dancing looks ridiculous...

  • TL where the hardest rocking band back in the day... loudest too.

I wouldn't know what to do either tbh

  • @tyu198 AC/DC was louder for the times...and so was Black Sabbath, Judas Priest...

Thin Lizzy was unique, blending bad boy hard rock and melodic pop..

  • the crowd dont no what 2 do with themselves during the dont believe a word solo!!!

It looks like its the first time they ever herd somethin like that

  • Brilliant! Keep up the good work.

  • They recall me sbd.

  • The kids dancing, fucking hilarious! That coulda been me!

  • I just Luv Tin Lizzy....Sarah was done for his daughter..kinda sweet...Lynott was amazin up close...way back in those old pariesenne days....thanks for this...

  • The best line-up ever in the band......they fit perfectly!

  • i too was named after the "my sarah" song, it seems this maybe why there was 5 sarahs in my class at school when i was a kid!! lol. beautiful song.x

  • MY name is sarah :)

My daddy used to sing this to me when i was a baby :)

    I love this song :)

  • there's a version of sarah on piano that i don't like, but the guitar one is really good. it's really confusing

  • That's because they're two different songs.

This one is Sarah from 1979 on the Black Rose album. It's about Phil's daughter and yeah, it's the better of the "Sarah" songs.

The other one (the piano one) is from 1973 on the Shades of a Blue Orphanage album and it's about his Grandmother. Probably one of their weakest albums (incredibly rushed).

  • ok ok, that makes sense, thanks

  • sarah is a lovely song

  • Sarah is one hell of a beautiful song by Thin Lizzy IMO :)

they do have many beautiful songs, include their cover of "Whiskey in the Jar"

  • I don't care about which version is best, version 1 or 2?! This song is beautiful. pour a long drink and lose yourself in Phil's voice.Fantastic.

  • COULD NOT HAVE SAID IT BETTER MYSELF.

  • Read an interview with Gary Moore once who said Scott Gorham could never play the riff to this song...did they ever do it live without Moore I wonder ? I saw them in 1980 and 1981 in Manchester and don't remember them doing it...maybe Gorham couldn't cop the lick on this ? haha

  • The day I was born my dad went out and bought this record and named me Sarah. I love you dad =)

  • AWESOME!!

  • Same with my friend's sister sarah!

  • @sjw152 tell your dad he`s got great taste--my daughter was born in nov 2009 after many years of trying and this song just means SO much to me!! and yes shes called sarah too `---EVE SARAH

  • Love the lead solo in this. Scott was pretty good!!

  • ...something was happining in our life and driving on our way to the outcome of this situation, i heard it on the radio.he played it for me 8 months later when i was pregant with 1st son.....then he played it the other week looking back at what we have gone thru and how strong we still are.... 2 sons 3 & 1,still strong as ever.....brings back memories of the very first time in the car we heard this...thanks for posting this xx

  • I was blessed to see these guy's live in the Inverness ice rink of all places, I too called my daughter Sarah. cheers for posting.

  • NICE upload! Thanks for this... love it!

  • Why do legends die so young? Phil Lynott was way ahead of his time. Tracks still stand up today. Classics!

  • Heroin is a fucking stupid drug Its a shame he didn`t just smoke the lettuce & drink beers & write more music !

  • i couldnt find sarah anywhere!!!!

so glad u have this up!

    absolutely love this song!

  • Me too. My lady friend's name is sarah :)

  • sarah:D

  • Think Prince got his style from Phil Lynott? ha!

Sarah is my favorite!!! I too have a baby girl Sarah!

  • sarah, when you begin to smile you change my style my sarah,Yep my fav.

  • These are my old mans fave band ever! I got to admit they ROCK :D

  • these two songs

    XxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxX

  • excellent clips.

does my memory serve me right in that I saw Lizzy late '78 with Dave flett playing with them. and some young Irish kid, he played guitar, kettle drums....was never going to get anywhere...think his name was Midge Ure?!!!!!

  • absolutely the best rock band ever in the world, thin lizzy sound even better now even after phils tragic passing;all those years ago,god blessyou phil for all the musical memories that remind of those happy days in the seventies! pablo-ireland

  • Limehouse just quality entertainment.New guitarist is on another planet.Dont have to try at all.Brilliant show.

  • I'm a life long Lizzy nut and I regularly get my fix by seeing Limehouse Lizzy, surely the greatest tribute to ever exist!! Almost as good as the real thing, check em out!!

  • Hey Jimmer, i saw the band Rude awakening at this place in Huntington Beach. They got this new drummer that has the Downey swing style. They nailed Emerald, suicide, cowboys, boys, massacre. They dont look like lizzie, except the drummer. But they are the best sounding lizie ive yet, just as good as limehouse, better live sound i think...check them out. Google bang your head with mike and ed. video is there...peace!!

  • Yep agree - Limehouse are good - Wayne is a good mate of mine. However, check out Dizzy Lizzy, they are pretty good too. Front man 'H' looks just like Phil whereas Wayne looks like Arnie with his bulging biceps!! My 3 yr old boy is well into Rosalie, Moonlight, Boys, Sarah and Alibi.....the Lynott legend lives on....

  • Ditto to the comment,

    "You had to be there".

I saw Thin Lizzy in a bar in '76 or '77.

    Incredible Musicians, singing Incredible Music.

    An Unforgettable Event.

Long live Thin Lizzy (RIP, Phil Lynott).

  • You are all so lucky having seen Phil and the boys on their peak. The rest of us can be happy by watching all these videos.

  • could'nt agree more, thin lizzy is in my blood along with my friends in derry.

  • I saw them in 1980 at the SMU Campus in Dallas. One of the best concerts I ever. After their encore no one left and chanted at the stage until they turned the lights back off and played another 15 minutes. I had never seen another band do that before or since and I have been to a lot of concerts. Truly one of the best bands ever.

  • Yup - fabulous stuff. I was 10 when my elder brothers took me to see Lizzy live at Birmingham Odean, UK in March 1983 on the Farewell T&L Tour. I think it changed my life, I mean seeing Philo strutting his stuff wielding his Black Fender Bass with the mirror scratch plate left an indelible mark on me - true genius and certainly the best front man/song writer the world has ever seen.

  • Oh hell, this one will make you wish you had seen them.

  • Can't add to to this. But you had to be here. Thanks for putting this one up.

  • An all time tight classic group

  • "Don't Believe A Word" is not rare. It's on the "Live And Dangerous" DVD.

  • This is not from Live and Dangerous but from a Top of The Pops appearance they did on 1977

  • You can find it in the Extras section, "Top of the Pops" on that DVD. I know, I have it.

  • Yes, you are right, I have that as well.

  • Oh, and I'm not saying that THIS is from the DVD. I'm just saying that you can find the first song there.

  • Well it ain't live then... pah. TOTP didn't do live.

  • sweet

  • That Sarah video was from Top of the Pops.Interesting to see that Gorham was "mimeing" Gary Moores guitar work and solo .Moore left soon after the Black Rose album. The 2 other guys in the band on the vid clip are Dave Flett on guitar and Mark Nauseef on drums .

  • Sorry but that ain't Mark Nauseef. It's Clive Edwards - as it says in the video description.

  • This is real music...

  • Amen

  • Leighlin Road, has never been the same since you left.

  • love both of these songs

    lizzy rule

    i love you sarah baby

    x

  • i agree

  • just like my girls I'd half trust u! It was a great song

  • unreal...love you forever phil..you were and always will be the greatest..to me anyway x

  • i prefare robo and moore cause snowy doesnt have the talent to keep up with gorham and... let be honest.... nobody can keep up with moore so its fun none the less but robo has to play lead or he's not a happy camper but haven said that all us guitarists are like that :)

still i see mr downy on the drums alot in Dalky , south doublin.... heh as a nice house.... like phils mother :)

if i had even an once of them guys talent id be in metallica :)

  • sexy, hot and irish, love you Phil. R I P my Hero. xxxxxxxxxx

  • The best ever!!!

  • whatever happened to scott gorham, brian downey and brian robertson? are they still out there playing somewhere? what a great band..saw them five times in the seventies!

  • Scott formed 21 Guns in 90's and toured. Now hes playing the odd Lizzy gig. Top man and great mate.

  • wheres scott playin here in the UK or in the States?

  • He tours all over still.

  • Yeah 21 Guns were great, especially with Le Verdi singing, i dont think the other guy was anywhere near as good as him. Its a shame they didnt knock out more albums, "Salute" is a fine album.

  • +_+ +_+ +{}_+

  • robbo has a nice guitar. dont see alot of them.

  • Travis Bean! And the spiffy carved-top Artist version at that. Nice.

  • Holy shit! Didn't know Lizzy did a TV thing with Dave Flett and Clive Edwards! Dave played some great guitar for Manfred Mann's Earth Band, and Clive must've jumped straight into Wild Horses with Robbo after this if he wasn't already in it at the time.

  • This is the greatest version and proper guitar solo.

  • Nope, thats "Top of the Pops".

    Everyone mimed on that show.

  • pitty he's mimming :(

    still love phil :)

  • Scott is THE man

  • yeah...my favorite Lizzy axeman

  • The solo on don't believe a word is played by Brian Robertson and the solo on sarah was Gary Moore - but Scott played some beautifully killer solos with Lizzy no doubt.

  • brian robertson and scott gorham kik asss

  • scott gorham actually wrote all the guitar pieces for the bad reputation album as robinson was on his way out of the band at that stage hence why there is only three ppl on the front cover (philo downey scott) but robinson does feature on the back cover! and gorham is my favourite lizzy guitarist aswell!

  • not only did scott write all the guitar on the album he played all of robbos guitar parts exept on three songs as robbo was in hospital for most of the album

  • How can someone play all of Robbo's guitar parts??? dont make sense... he either played them on not, he cant play by proxy! does someone wright all your comments for you?

  • Hi Clive, was there ever a chance of you taking over permanently for Brian Downey in Lizzy at the time or were you simply on loan from Wild Horses being that you were all mates? It just seems a lil' drastic for a band to do a high profile TV thing with 2 stand-in guys and confuse the fans even though Lizzy seemed to be in flux at the time with a half dozen guys passing thru the ranks within a couple of years. P.S.: Funny how you and Flett look like deadringers for Downey and Robbo from afar.

  • That's rubbish, and the name is Robertson not Robinson!!! He does play on the album and do you really think anyone let alone Scott could have told Robbo what he was going to play!!!

  • sorry it is indeed robertson, dont know what i was at there.

anywho what axtually happened according to those there was that the album was recorded while (as someone pointed outrobbo was in hospital) as he had his ligaments slashed in a bar fight and couldnt play. so gorham wrote al the albums recorded all the stuff and at a later stage robbo came in and just went over a few bits and pieces, but the fundamentals and the main body of work on this album is gorhams!

  • that happened during the recording of Bad Reputation and not of Johnny the Fox where Don't believe a word appears

  • How is guitar sound on Sarah made? It sounds very strange.

  • Anyone who is familiar with Philip's interviews on chat shows etc... will have heard say many times how he loved taking the piss out of miming on T.V. We miss you so Philo.

  • They did some good and proper songs, not some of the crap you hear today. They always sound great live, and the Sarah performance is out of sync and not bad miming.

  • it's all greek to me mate!

  • Γαμότη βίδεο....

  • Sickness that first cut..what a song, what a vocal! and you can dance to it ! Miss you Phil~

  • most TOTPs from those days were mimed but still great performances

  • thin lizzy are the most live band ever dude, thin lizzy never and will never mime they play live cus thats when there at their best

  • you are right lassie!!! the best irish band !!!!!!!

  • yes i no scott an johns version of lizzy is this month an December in the UK just bought tickets!!!!

  • SARAH one is all outa sync thats why it looks dodgey

  • they are great but their miming

  • i love this song

  • pure majic

  • W o w. Thanks, man.
