Is it just me or is Jame REALLY bad with women? Kills his wife, lets Maria die three times, lets Angela kills herself... He needs to be put on a list or something.

i don't play silent hill but will someone tell me wut the pyramid heads are supposed to be? i thought it was just the one but seeing that it's an enemy will someone just explain to me wut their supposed to be, they seem kinda like the elites of the game.

@megafio That was his job. Keyword: was. Pyramid Head was from James' own mind, that was manifested from both his subsconscious need for punishment, as well as his sexual frustration while his wife Mary was sick. The original Team Silent meant PH to be for James and only James. Every other time you see PH in SH is the developer being unimaginative and unoriginal, and not fully understanding Silent Hill (coughcough Homecoming and the SH movie).

They were meant to punish others for their sins, however, in Silent Hill: Homecoming, the character you play as (Alyx or Alex) killed his own brother "accidentally". The makers of Homecoming didn't understand this, and thus used PH. PH is not SH's monster. He was created by James(subconsciously), through the town's power. The same goes for every other creature in the game. Why do you think all the original SH games had different monsters? Because they are supposed to be specific to the characters; not reused.

If they were uniquely created by their minds, then they wouldn't see the same monsters.
In short: Laura, Eddie, and Angela never see PH. They can, but that is because of the town physically manifesting PH from James' mind. They all have their own delusions save for Laura who sees nothing but an abandoned town. Lisa and Kauffman have a different situation, because the delusions of SH1 are not in the same manner as SH2. Similarly with SH3. All explained in PM.

Only Silent Hill 2 . The entire plot of Silent Hill is much more complex. Every Silent hill has a different story and different character. (Excluding Silent Hill 1 and Silent Hill Shattered Memories.)
@UnknownExile I wouldn't call Sh1, 3, 5, origins and Shattered Memories different plots just because the characters are different. They still essentially deal with the same issues and storylines. Silent Hill 2 was the only one bold enough to take a completely different approach. Oh and so did SH4.

@UnknownExile You are wrong about that, Silent Hill Origins is the beginning, which then goes into Silent Hill, then that story continues in Silent Hill 3. However, even though James' guilt terrorizes him throughout Silent Hill 2, it also hints at Silent Hill 4: The Room. It mentions Walter Sullivan and the people he murdered, as well as the hole (in SH2 if you go to Neely's Bar there is writing on the window that says "There was a hole here. Now it's gone.")
Before the boss between the 2 pyramid heads at the end James' says "I was weak,thats why i needed you.I needed somebody to punish me for my sins".This is obviously referring to him needing Maria to punish him for the regret and inner torment he has over killing his wife.Silent Hill has created her just like the monster that Angela thinks is her father.In her eyes its her father,but when James sees him he appears to be a grotesque monster.Notice how James is the only person to ever see Maria?!
Also after the fight when you check Pyramid Head after you take the eggs, he'll say something like "Pyramid Head isnt moving" and something similar to "I dont need this anymore" as if Pyramid was some item, which would also make since to the quote you said above. Homecoming is made by a different development team, PH in Homecoming is Boogeyman, not Pyramid Head. And they take different roles on both games. Look Pyramid Head wiki on google, it'll tell you everything.
@UnknownExile There is a good reason for PH to be in SH5 (Spoiler alert) it's because Alex actualy kill his own brother Josh in an accident but he feels very guilty, could be the reason, like James with Mary
@UnknownExile Actually, In Homecoming, PH still has the same duties as a Punisher. In Homecoming, Alex has PH to punish him because he accidentally killed his brother, Joshua. So Pyramid Head is the internal "Punisher" of Silent Hill.

@qegvW3H maria was always an illusion to james. She was created by the town to serve james' needs yet torment him also for what he has done. James created maria out of what he wanted from mary when she was sick. When Mary was sick she couldnt satisfy him sexually and James became frustrated. Maria is more of a manifestation than an illusion I think though. In a few scenes she seems to have a consciousness and will of her own which is also quite interesting. She seems to have feelings too.
@randomusername27 Pyramid Head is manifested to punish James, while Maria is manifested from Jame's sexual desires and yearning for Mary to be alive. But yes she is sort of created to punish James because PH is after Maria to kill her again and again - tormenting James. So Maria exists to be killed by PH.
The forces of Silent Hill created Maria to fulfill James' mental needs in regard of torturing himself. Angela, Eddie, and James are all internally conflicted and self loathing and to some extent wish they were dead. Silent Hill responds to their brooding by giving them the physical torment they feel they deserve.
Yeah, basically it´s a psychological trick that involves Pyramid Head being the manifestation of James guilt, and Maria being the reason for the guilt, so PH Kills her over and over and OVER and james find her alive again giving him hope which is then ultimately chrushed again by PH....

obviously maria represents mary and PH is a physical manafestation of james's guilt and his want of being punished for his sins, altho you fight PH in the game i dont believe that is james"s punishment but rather his desire to face the truth, so when PH kills maria its not only punishing him but also pushing james closer to the truth buried in his mind, also in the prison note that maria is lying dead on the bed much in the same way his wife was.

ACtually yeah, it does. Seeing as how you actually meet her alive before that scene inside of a cell, james goes around to free her, but when he gets there, she is dead, for the second time. You always meet her alive before finding her or watching her die.
maria gets kill on the elevator. what you see after she gets kill is a monster like any other in the game but James still see maria as a person the same way Angela see her dad in that monster call daddy .

Homecoming is made by a different development team, PH in Homecoming is Boogeyman, not Pyramid Head. And they take different roles on both games. Look Pyramid Head wiki on google, it'll tell you everything.

@UnknownExile Actually, In Homecoming, PH still has the same duties as a Punisher. In Homecoming, Alex has PH to punish him because he accidentally killed his brother, Joshua. So Pyramid Head is the internal "Punisher" of Silent Hill.

@qegvW3H maria was always an illusion to james. She was created by the town to serve james' needs yet torment him also for what he has done. James created maria out of what he wanted from mary when she was sick. When Mary was sick she couldnt satisfy him sexually and James became frustrated. Maria is more of a manifestation than an illusion I think though. In a few scenes she seems to have a consciousness and will of her own which is also quite interesting. She seems to have feelings too.

@randomusername27 Pyramid Head is manifested to punish James, while Maria is manifested from Jame's sexual desires and yearning for Mary to be alive. But yes she is sort of created to punish James because PH is after Maria to kill her again and again - tormenting James. So Maria exists to be killed by PH.

The forces of Silent Hill created Maria to fulfill James' mental needs in regard of torturing himself. Angela, Eddie, and James are all internally conflicted and self loathing and to some extent wish they were dead. Silent Hill responds to their brooding by giving them the physical torment they feel they deserve.

Yeah, basically it´s a psychological trick that involves Pyramid Head being the manifestation of James guilt, and Maria being the reason for the guilt, so PH Kills her over and over and OVER and james find her alive again giving him hope which is then ultimately chrushed again by PH....
It is a complex and disturbing game<.<

obviously maria represents mary and PH is a physical manafestation of james's guilt and his want of being punished for his sins, altho you fight PH in the game i dont believe that is james"s punishment but rather his desire to face the truth, so when PH kills maria its not only punishing him but also pushing james closer to the truth buried in his mind, also in the prison note that maria is lying dead on the bed much in the same way his wife was.

ACtually yeah, it does. Seeing as how you actually meet her alive before that scene inside of a cell, james goes around to free her, but when he gets there, she is dead, for the second time. You always meet her alive before finding her or watching her die.
