LBP was probably the biggest disappointing game in 2008. I fell asleep 3 TIMES gameplay sucked because the 3d was misleading and no double jump. Story was horrible, and only thing good was graphics.

Yo Whity, man I was with you on this one back when I first played the demo a long time ago when I first got my PS3. I thought it was boring and just a let down. But recently i decided on a whim to give it another try and... amazingly the game is now freaking awesome so I went and bought it and man, i gotta say, I'm having a LOT of fun playing it. I personally think you reviewed the game unfairly, which is weird because your approach to other games seem very professional. The level creator option is there, you don't have to use it, you can just play other created levels instead. It's also unfair to take points out for not having voice acting, it's not a standard. And the story? It's really irrelevant when it's a platformer and you can skip everything just by clicking X. I would've given it a 9, not a 7, but that's just me.

this game wasent made to have a story, its for people with no online, but LBP was made to be nearly completely online, and yes stage making is complicated and time consuming, and you have to plan things out, make blueprints, but if you dont like building, then just dont build, just play the stuff online.

One thing which you're forgetting. This game also has to appeal to the younger audience. Adding stuff like, as you said "Blah, blah, blah" over the speech bubbles, is a way to appeal to children, making it a more friendly, bubbly game.

I can see your point, core gameplay is pretty simple, I was happy when they added shooting though - but I think that should have been in the game from the start. I like making levels however so my experience is different from yours, good review.
I would like this game if wasnt still $50. I like halo's forge feature cause its easy to use and you can do crazy shit with your buddies (like dropping a tank on them which is always fun) but in this game its to slow and to complex plus it zooms out which makes it hard when making something thats small.
Graphics are quality, the concept is solid, fun, original. Level designer is too complex I agree (but it needs be in order to create fantastic levels). Simplicity rules. I'd still give it a 10, just like Mario Galaxy. It takes a formula and utilizes it to its fullest. Nothing more nothing less. The sequel could use some harder/bigger/interesting levels.

Other than the level creation and the graphics, I can't understand why people love this game so much, its just a generic plattarformer, and I'm a huge fan of those games, but this game was just not interesting to me. Super Mario, Megaman, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Contra, etc. are WAY more fun IMO. =)

I agree, except that i totaly dig the level editor, and just the ab ility to creat cool stuff, tanks, rocket ships, cannons, whatever... I however didn't enjoy the regular gameplay much either.

I can see your point, core gameplay is pretty simple, I was happy when they added shooting though - but I think that should have been in the game from the start. I like making levels however so my experience is different from yours, good review.

I would like this game if wasnt still $50. I like halo's forge feature cause its easy to use and you can do crazy shit with your buddies (like dropping a tank on them which is always fun) but in this game its to slow and to complex plus it zooms out which makes it hard when making something thats small.

Graphics are quality, the concept is solid, fun, original. Level designer is too complex I agree (but it needs be in order to create fantastic levels). Simplicity rules. I'd still give it a 10, just like Mario Galaxy. It takes a formula and utilizes it to its fullest. Nothing more nothing less. The sequel could use some harder/bigger/interesting levels.

imo, littlebigplanet is a 6/10.
do i want to collect stickers? NO.
do i want to collect costumes? NO.
do i enjoy decorating sackboy with costumes? NO.
do i enjoy decorating the backround with stickers? NO.
do i like running 2 miles per hour? NO.
do i like to spend 5 hours creating a half decent level? NO.

it's really a mediocre 2d platformer so really it's totally 2d gen gameplay like this game could have easily been done on the nintendo but without the 3d graphics & the level creator but on that standpoint there are way better 2d platformers from the old days that are way better like mario & sonic & so on.

Whity, I agree with you 100%. I was planning on buying this game just beacuse I heard it got good scores, but I decided to rent it first, and I'm so glad i did, because I was so bored with this game. Other than the level creation and the graphics, I can't understand why people love this game so much, its just a generic plattarformer, and I'm a huge fan of those games, but this game was just not interesting to me. Super Mario, Megaman, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Contra, etc. are WAY more fun IMO. =)

i agree with this review on everything but the level making part, i think that it depends on what kind of person you are, im an artsy type of person so the level making is fun for me. after all this game is basically one of those design games, all you need is imagination

I agree with this score...I WANT to make a map. I have an IDEA for a map, but the second I pop into the map-editor I say...
"okay, never mind. I'm going to do something else"
So when I pop into Single-player, its only for collecting rare items, and when I play other peoples maps...
well I don't.
Theres a contrast. A maps either really good looking, but BORING, or really BAD looking, but fun.
