Okay, so they were actually shown in theaters first. But still, they should be showing cartoons like these on T.V.. The oldest cartoons I have seen on T.V. are on Cartoon Network and Boomerang. They have shows like Popeye and Looney Tunes (which I love) as well as Tom & Jerry, The Pink Panther, The Flintstones, and so forth. All of these cartoons started way before I was born, so it's good to see what cartoons were like back then.

Don't worry about the copyright; this cartoon's Public Domain, along with a bunch of other old Bosko stuff. You can get a lot of that material off the Internet Archive's "moving images" archive (which, coincidentally, is where the $1 DVD company probably gets all their videos in the first place).

It's funny, it's unique, the animation and designs are great, it's an all around great cartoon that's far superior to the crap we see on TV nowadays,

That's a bit of a leap, I think. In the realm of cartoons, we had some great ones just a few years back (on Disney, Nick, CN). Now, though, I will admit the stuff's not that good anymore. Some of it is. Most of it isn't. But I'd still pick it over this stuff. I'd feel like I'm watching a show, not some LSD-induced nonsense with bad music. XD

And -- ...did you just say the animation is "great"?! I completely disagree there. Monochromatic and eldritch, maybe. But not great.

Although I agree that this cartoon isn't as entertaining as some others from the same time period, I believe that we must remember that all art forms had their beginning, and if it wasn't for these early cartoons, many tricks of the trade may have been undiscovered for years, or even decades.

These early cartoons (this one is from 1931) depended largely on sight gags and were targeted mainly to children. It didn't take long for cartoons to reach a much higher level of sophistication though.

I wish though--I could remmeber the series of cartoons that alwasy had plenty of contemp songs of the day--it had 2 or 3 cats singing along and/or palying insturments--BUT THEY WERE ALMOST ALWASY UP TO SOME MISCHIEF.

Many times, they harassed a pig (not porky- in the middle of the night...

THEY WERE GREAT--the songs were terrific and the story line was also..
