I finally was able to watch this video. I brought all the issues and enjoyed the hell out of them. Sure, the price was an issue topic, but at the time, my pull list was being re-done and I was able to have Wednesday Comics in my budget (I cut 90% of Marvel Books and that was about 12 of them).
i did not, and will not, buy this. i was pretty excited by the concept but yeah - four dollars WEEKLY. and page-at-a-time storytelling isn't for me. hopefully they'll collect them in prestige format and i can choose the stories i want.
Im with you guys, I bought the first two issues... err strips... whatever, and while I love the Batman, Superman, Deadman, Adam Strange, LOVE the Flash/Irish West, and The Demon/Catwoman strips I didnt care for the other ones. I want to support this book because I want DC to take risks and make ballsy moves like this but 3.99 for a weekly in which I only like half the stories is just too rough
The art is amazing. I'm not used to reading such short excerpts though. The collector nerd in me is afraid of folding/unfolding it, and I wished it was $1.99. Having said all that, I'm officially giving Wednesday Comics and DC editorial a thumbs up.
I loved Wednesday comics. fucking LOVED it. It is one of the very few 3.99 books that is worth the money.
Reports from cbr, bleeding cool etc are indicating that wednesday comics is selling out in a lot of shops. That may be due to underordering but its a good sign that demand is exceeding supply.
i only like glossy in trades but in issues newprint just feels better.
i would love to see marvel do a wednesday strip. i all ask for is they give us a little more bang for our buck add an extra story or add a lil more to each story, or lower the pice to 2.50
I saw the Superman comic in USA Today. Ir looked great. But I am not wasting nearly 50 bucks when I can put that towards a better version of this project. Fuck 4 bucks for a DC comic unless it has Geoff Johns writing it or has Superman in it.
This is doomed. The only possible audience for this comic is people who already go to the comic shop every week, because no one else will be able to follow the fragmented weekly story. Yet the stories in it are designed to appeal to new readers, free from the complications of current DC continuity (Superman is not dealing with New Krypton, etc.). The company-wide crossover events are bought every week by hardcore fans because the stories "matter" by being in continuity. This! Is! Doomed!

lol "90% of the reivews are about marvel /dc anyway." lolol
well it was true for a few months there....
WEDSDAY COMICS even at $1.99 is just not a worthwhile comic to collect.
ComicSHopNews is FREE with lots of artwork and i cant stand keeping those annoying newspapers around once ive glanced it over.
WEDSDAY COMICS is a cool novelty that but Id rather google everypage for free than buy a sinlge issue.

i really HATE the glossy paper.
if they made a wednesday comic for Spider-Man with some other M.U. stuff in it.
i would buy it. .. and thats the truth.
if it was in the same "old and still good" style like im thinking that they are doing the DC one like.

I really like the Wednesday comics, it's got better stories in it than most books being put out.

Hopefully this gets collected in a trade, it's current format is a little to flimsy looking for me.

I agree with you guys committing $4 for a weekly is too much.
It's a shame though cause the character/creator combinations had me interested.
TheNomadicCat 2 years ago
Had this been $2.99 I would probably check it out. But I won't pay $4 for this. DC has been really good lately. Batman especially.

Neat idea, but insane price. I read the Superman, Supergirl, and Wonder Woman ones (fantastic) however I'm not buying this.
Did you guys here what Joey Q said about JMS's departure from Thor? Complete bullshit.

No I didn't. I'll go look for it right now. Thanks.
