@Alexanderisgreat Ay. This guy just has an opinion. I don't fully agree with it, but I see his point of view. He's not a moron...he's written more great books than I'm sure you ever will.
Hey Hank. You are wrong. Alcohol is far worse than mari. And how can you say you are against drugs while drinking a beer and smoking a cigarette? I still love you though.
@JazSmithPresentation good luck when you actual encounter it. exposure usually leads to trying. and it doesnt happen in all cases but trying can lead to abuse, which can lead to addiction. and by encounter i mean when it finds you cus thats what happens. i didnt start using by looking for it. i was offered, and i was curious, and i ended up with a problem...but never forget that alcohol is a drug too, and with few exceptions like Buk's case, it's ultimately destructive.
Buk did a few drugs in his time, he was willing to try anything - it just didn't fit for him. Saying that, when the Dr's told him to quit drinking towards the end of his life, he did - cold turkey, straight off.
Just be glad your not YOU!!!! I would imagine that most intelligent people would chose a famous poet/writer over....YOU. I mean, come on, really. I hope your post was a joke.
@Supertramp1966 LOL be yourself. I'm sure all you imbeciles WOULD pick fame over sanity if you could choose. I never told you to be anyone but yourself, just said be glad you are not miserable. You got a crush on old rottenass Bukowski?
He's not a hypocrite. I've smoked weed and drank, and drinking gets me a little more passionate than weed did. Weed is lovely, granted, but it makes you complacent.
@Thesortvokter Ok here's my two cents wroth. Bukowski must have known alcohol was technically a drug, but colloquially it's not referred to as a drug very often. It's probably like how humans are animals but most of the time I just say 'animals' to mean 'non-human animals'.
@crowbs90 That's because we live in a hypocritical world, where the majority have chosen to label their own drugs as alcohol and tobacco, so they can slag and criminalize all else who prefer other drugs. Let's use your animal kingdom analogy: If marihuana is a human, then alcohol is the chimpanzee. Ban alcohol and tobacco, or deal with hypocricy by legalizing pot, wich is actually less harmful, despite what this drunken writer claims.
@Thesortvokter Well it's clear you have a bone to pick. It's up to the individual to "choose their poison". Maybe Bukowski really didn't appreciate that there wasn't a special kind of divide between alcohol and marijuana, thinking of only the latter as a real problem drug. If so, he would have been wrong. I don't think alcohol is better than marijuana, but I don't think marijuana is completely harmless, especially if smoked at a young age. Stoners who deify weed amuse me.
@crowbs90 You know what? We just had a case in the country were I live where an 18 year old dude raped and muedered a really old woman. Luckily he was just under the influence of alcohol. Had he been under the influence of a drug then it REALLY would have been serious..
"If you're gonna be anything - be an alcoholic.."
Fucking idiotic statement, I smoke pot to stop me from becoming an alcoholic because I know the damage alcohol does. He's just trying to justify his own drug of choice. Statistics don't agree with him.
@Thesortvokter I'm not arguing mate, I'm having a good time. you're honestly a top guy. Anyways you're asshatedness is diverting from the video clip bro, treading on the epitaph of a great guy.
To be honest, I personally think he's right on the ganja front, granted his opinions were only from what he saw through his own eyes. He actually mentioned that specifically, I guess that's all he ever did was tell it how he saw it. A Rare thing these days. But yeah, stick with the booze.
@PrinkleSpank Yeah, you think he's right on the ganja front, that's fine. I merely commented on the fact that, in my opinion, his opinion is bullshit. Actually, he says "if YOU're going to be anything, be an alcoholic" 2:55.
That's clearly giving other people advice, and that's why i took the liberty of commenting.
Really??? "Fuckin' idiot statement"..... What?? "I smoke pot to stop me from becoming an alcoholic because I know the damage alcohol does.". HELLO!!! Pot does damage too. My ex. was a brain-dead zombie when smokin' pot. and that's a true statement. So. you know the damage alcohol does? And pot??? I suppose we can skip through the countryside like little fairy's on pot? A drug is a drug is a drug, you fuckin' ignorant gobbler...
@Supertramp1966 I see you're refering to your ex and not yourself. I have 25 years of experience with BOTH alcohol and pot, and I assure you: a drug is not like any and every other drug.
If you toss out a statement like that, then YOU'RE the ignorant gobbler.
Your ex. used to smoke pot...hmm...and you sometimes drink a beer or a glass of wine then, maybe?
So your point is????? I used my ex as an example because I don't smoke "the devil's lettuce"..Pot made my ex a worthless piece of shit. How would u like to live with someone who's favorite line was "Let's take a toke", while she layed around and did nothing all day. Yeah, I drink, dude. And, I have a job, hobbies, a life.... things that make my happy. My point being...don't come across like pot is ok and booze is bad, 'cause clearly that is a gross generalization...
@Supertramp1966 Why the fuck do I have to explain myself again??
The point clearly is:
Buk is just trying to justify HIS OWN drug of preferance, and all statistics show that alchoholics IN GENERAL have miserable lives. His advice to everyone else that they should choose alcohol instead of other drugs reveals a weakness in his line of thought, since HIS SPECIFIC opinions on this subject does not apply to THE GENERAL POPULATION; Hence: He's just trying to justify himself.
Well, you stepped in it tonight, son. "Statistics show that alcoholics in general have miserable lives". REALLY? As opposed to "pot Heads" who have a carefree, enlightened life, right?? Your full of shit! You obviously toke so your simply trying to justify your addiction. There is no "weakness in his line of thought" for those us who enjoy booze. I thought you "pot-heads" were "non-confrontational"... Guess your just assholes like everyone else... Toke on, dude...
biggest fucker. I hate you Bukowski. Your an asshole from drinking. Oh your so more creative because you drink. However your poetry is really good. I are a mean person and I dont like how you portray women.
"I are a mean person and I don't like how you portray women." Who is the alcoholic here????? I love it how people want to bash BUK. "He was sexist", "He wasn't politically correct". Blahhhh...blahh...blahh...I know, simpeltons of America, he's such an easy target. Take your shots at him while you all wallow in your own vices. Hypocrite assholes that you are... BUK was a great author. He wrote about what made sense to him. And, clearly, he was famous. Enough said, haters...
@Supertramp1966 wow that deep. let me guess. You have a BUK sticker on your car. Easy target. he sucks. I have a good friend that really likes him. Maybe you guys should make a group where your never going to have a really relationship because you like to power trip people.
What???? Get command of english before you attempt to reply. You have broken sentences, bad structure, etc..."He sucks", huh.... I bet you put a lot of thought into that profound statement. Well, here's a thought for you, Charlie. If you think "Buk sucks", then fly away...Shu, fly...Fly back under that rock of yours...
POST SCRIPT: I think you should take your friend who likes Buk and shoe him in the nuts. Fucks like u get off on that. BUK was the man!!!! Love his novels!!!
@Supertramp1966 he was ruff and he was crude, BUT he was himself. and honesty to yourself is the rarest of qualities. it's essential in any person who's trying to convey who they are. if people don't like it? move on to someone else, there's plenty of people out there that can entertain you in your "comfort zone".
I'm a fan of his poetry, but I've known people who have died from alcoholism and don't know anyone who'd died from pot. Alcohol for an alcoholic is slow suicide. I've never been verbally or emotionally abused by someone who smokes a lot of pot.
personally,I'd rather be a stoner. But that doesn't mean I get so baked, all the time,to the point where I can barely form thoughts regularly.People who get to that state have gone as far as a drunkard.& alcoholic's are only interesting if they have a brain, otherwise I don't really enjoy being around them. But that's the way it works for pot too, if u have a mind, & u use it regularly,u can have a habit like drinking or smoking. If u have no mind to express anything interesting,ur already stoned...
Come on you idiots, this is just one man's opinion it's not the law. You are allowed to disagree with him, I just wonder why you all get worked up about it. It doesn't change how you feel about weed being better then booze or vice versa. Chill out. However, I do love booze.
Well said! You obviously put a lot of thought into that profound comment. lol However, what I'm really trying to say is... YOUR full of shit. What have YOU done lately??? You couldn't even begin to understand what BUK achieved...And could never dream of creating what he did. That is why we are listening to HIS video!! :-)
Perspective is everything. Maybe you should try a little harder. And while you gather your thoughts about that, I'll lament poor souls like you who just don't get it. You may disagree with Buk's opinion, but he clearly wasn't "full of shit". (And, afterall, how could he be? Remember (had you read his novels) he enjoyed "a good, hot beer shit")
Isn't this discussion "much ado 'bout nothing", as Shakespeare said so well. Buk enjoyed his booze, Marley enjoyed his pot...So what. Personal choice. Buk talks about the good relationships he had with people who drank with him. We are all products of our environment, relating best to people who share the same vices we do. Debating booze vs. pot is as silly as debating an orange vs. apple. GET IT?????
i'm on his side, those words he said,is for a special group of people, this people will agree with me,a group who see life much different (if i wouldn't be drunkard i would've comitted suicide long ago,it's not about the drinking alone,it's about a sight on the world, people, things,
i firmly believe that drugs were a crucial part to my development as a creative artist (including writing) and i've met many more people who say the same. there's not much of an argument, and what's worse is he just sort of defends it by saying they act weird and talking "voodoo pharmacology" (look it up) bullshit. any addiction can devour your creative flow if you let it consume you.
hahahahaa "I'm anti-drugs." Thats just stupid of him to say. Alcohol destroys so many lives, not to say pot is great, but ultimately it seems safer. Just depends on the person too.
Just goes to show you Bukowski's books are a lot like books about war. Engaging to read...makes it sound exciting compared to our boring lives. The reality is that being a drunk is hell. Physical deterioration, destruction of social relationships, economic distress. I like his writing style but I think he's the Marlborough Man of drinking. Selling people the idea that booze is all about rugged individualism and self-determination. The reality is when you're an addict you're a slave.
Aren't you generalizing?? Not everyone who drinks physically deteriorates. Not everyone has a "destruction of social relationships"...BUK isn't "selling" booze. He's just giving his opinion. Why is that such a hard concept for some people to digest??? In the end, ultimately, it's all about personal choices. And so what if your a slave to booze?? Pick your poison, man. Everyone has a vice. Addiction? I heard if u scramble those letters around it spells THE US.... Cocktails!!
@drmodestoesq very true, sell your addiction and rubbish all others to rationalise your dependance to yourself, classic traits of the addict ('hey at least it's not smack/coke/ barbs'). other peoples lives seem more interesting 'cause they ain't mine.........
@commradedave Also, notice one of the things he likes about alcohol is one of the things the rest of us hate the most about drunks: confrontationalism. He actually is proud of the fact that his community (drunks) are violent and confrontational. When the alcoholics across the street from me start screaming at each other at 1 am the last thing I'm thinking is what a great social stimulant alcohol is. But the worst thing is to have to work alongside a confrontational person.
@drmodestoesq I know, it's fairly bizzare that he would choose that side of booze as a favorite, as you say, there is not much more brain damage than a confrontational drunk, endlessly repeating the same tired old arguments, desperate to be the centre of attention as if to prove to themselves that they still exist. does my nut in, I know a few and it's pretty tiresome.
hmmm to say to be anti-drugs with a beer and a cigarette is kinda funny
I just think it's a drunk's mind trying to convince itself that it's doing the right drug.
Everybody should be free to do their drug of choice cause let's face it, everybody's on drugs. Prescription or otherwise. It helps cope with reality. Pick your poison and be happy.
Who is Bukowski to say that people who are like "heeey heeey" are not intelligent!? Just because a person doesn't act in an academic manner or is always on point doesn't mean they aren't intelligent. I strive to be more "heeeey heeey" because I am constantly thinking in logical patterns and academic obnoxiousness.
I understand what you're saying. I get it, but keep in mind Bukowski grew up in the 1920's he was exposed to all kinds of different kinds of social behaviors. Today the " heeey heeey" pot smoking individual is more accepted. It most likely wasn't dominate around that time. But I do agree that an individual may hold back on their ability to converse in an intellectual manner, even if they are an academic scholar.
@lorendorky Heeey maaan, good point. I am intelligent (TOOT! - thats my horn), but I do not feel the need to alter my grammer or style of vocabulary to suit some drunk cynic. Perhaps if he smoked some weed he wouldn't have been such a miserable arse. Either way, being stoned is good (for me at least) for reflective and abstract thought whereas with drink, well, slebbery mess.
We've exchanged comments on this thread before, but I've just got to say that weed and booze CLEARLY affect people differently (see my apples vs. oranges theory). For you, pot lends to "reflective and abstract thought", for my ex, she was a completely unmotivated mess. True, booze does make some people a "slebbery mess", however that's clearly not true for everyone. Say what you want about the man, but Buk wrote many successful novels, and in this genre of writing, he's famous.
@Supertramp1966 Yeah man, I see your point, it is fairly subjective. I know people who have fucked themselves on booze (angry alchys that get stabby with knifes - hooray for Scotland) and I know people who are fucked with weed (do nothing but sit around, being weird) and folk who have died from smack (which fucks everyone). It really is what each person can handle and which each person finds most conducive to the lifestyle they want to lead. Moderation, I suppose, is the key.
@Supertramp1966 Apart from smack of course, which it seems to be an impossibilaty to take in moderation, hence the high volume of dead smackheads I have known (I don't associate, there's just a real issue with heroin (and booze) in Scotland, junkies everwhere, it's a fucking shame and governments want to sort this infected societal wound with a 'band-aid' (it's a plaster over here). 'Keep it illegal!', 'Make it more expensive!' - social decay and this is what they come up with.
I would also like to add, contrary to what some people may believe, a fact is not an intangable idea, it is not abstract, it is something that has been proven time and again through rigorous study. The lancet is a medical journal. Thought i'd clear that up before some less than intelligent being stumbles across that comment and does what they are inclined to do - say something stupid.
Hey what works for some doesn't for others. But I will say that it is a FACT that alcohol is more damaging to the well being of an individual that cannabis is if taken on a regular basis. Some unfortunate souls do develop mental illnesses due to drug use, but on the whole, cannabis is by far the lesser of two evils. Legality counts for very little. Why not read some articles in The Lancet before shooting off? Plus he was an alcy, so his opinions on booze are bound to be a little squefty.
I disagree, man. Drinking vs. Smoking pot... No comparison. My ex was a pot smoker and couldn't get her pathetic ass out of bed to save her life, dumb bitch. Her favorite line was "let's take a toke". On the other hand, BUK wrote 7 novels, is famous, and were talkin' about him on this thread. Get my point????? Enough said..........
@Supertramp1966 I draw your attention to Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, Jack Herer, the list goes on and on and on and on. People are lazy, people are too drunk or high to do anything. Some folks will be prolific and others will do nothing. We're all digging holes in the dirt in the end.
I believe his point is that getting high kills your personality as a means of escapism, whereas booze amplifies it to achieve roughly the same purpose; one remains a human, furthermore, themselves with the latter, thus it is superior. I'd say he's right.
So, he ends up, not in a factory doin a ''shit'' job, but doing what he loves, writing and mouthing off with the passion of a comatosed fascist. What an achievement.
hahaha, not for nothing, but he sounds like a fool. you want to make a point that weed is bad, so you say its better to be an alcoholic? you can smoke and drive just fine, but its dangerous to drink and drive. how many people have died from alcohol, apposed to weed? on the other hand, weed turns people into brain dead stupid fucks who just ramble, but as we clearly see in this video, booze has the same effect. weed, alcohol, both ok, but on moderate levels. abuse them, and your skrewed..
Rolled cig ofcourse... the tobacco you roll is usually fresher and tastes a lot better, some people prefer that.. in Scandinavia (I'm from Norway), most people smoke the tobacco you roll... unless your the preppy brand-type...
Some people just have it in them, that way of absorbing alcohol... maybe I have inherited it from my Norwegian ancestry who at times survived on beer and mead...
excess with anything is damaging...and he is wrong about the harms of weed vs. booze. but it doesn't matter, everyone is different and their life is theirs.
I suspect that the examples he is thinking of (unbeknownst to him) are people who have drifted off to Opiates. I'm a light weight weed smoker, gotta have a toke before sleep... but alcohol is the drug that really makes you live and embrace life, it gets you out there...
ofcourse it strongly depends on the brain that gets the drugs and this does not apply to all,but in essence while weed relaxes you and opens up your mind it makes you passive, daily use makes you incapable of acting upon your self reflections and inhibits learning, a lot of people do not dream, thats when the brain stores what it has learned during the day into long term memory. You stand still.Like with all poisons moderation and every now and then 2-3 months abstinence check to see who has ctrl
I feel like hes very wrong about this, hes making a lot of assumptions. Scientists have actually proven alcohol to be much, much worse for you that weed. Most people who are "addicted" to weed and act like what bukowski is talking about have the temperament for that in the first place; they were going to be like that in the first place, weed just brought it out in them. Personally i prefer alcohol over weed just because i like the feeling over the other, but in the end alcohol is worse than weed
Your poor spelling and general lack of intelligence is the exact reason why people (like me) say....pot-heads are meat-heads, dead from the neck up. lol Thanks for the comment!!!!!!!!!! lol
@Supertramp1966 ? I dont understand, what did i spell wrong? Do I lack intelligence because I dont always use apostrophes and capitalize properly on fucking youtube comments? I believe I made it pretty clear that I in fact prefer alcohol over weed, I probably smoke weed once a month; does that mean I'm a pothead? I was just giving my opinion on this video (which is certainly why it was uploaded in the first place; for discussion), and you blatantly attack me by calling me dumb. Real mature, LOL!
"Real mature". I know. It's a tough act to follow, isn't it. You can ride the horse or clean up his shit. The choice is up to you, Jimmy.......Right now your the latter. But don't feel bad, Jimmy. Most people are idiots. Your in good company. lol
I have two uncles, ones a drunk and the other's a stoner. My druncle, as I like to call him, is a complete asshole, not intelligent, dangerous to himself and others, dramatic, physical abuser, annoying prick. My other uncle is just a little slow.
@zackkcazful My drunkle is the biggest weirdo asshole you've ever met. He scares the kids and is always awkward and inappropriate. My stoner uncle is always smiling and laughing. He's cool and down to earth. #screwdrunks
People handle stuff differently. Personally I cant connect alchohol with violence or obtrusive behaviour, but thats how I react on it. And personally I cant be around kids when I'm stoned because kids are so inquisitive and I get paranoid when stoned. Alcohol is the drug that makes me great around kids.Believe it or not...
To all the whiners on both sides of the arguement ... I have almost 18 years of sobriety. I was a magnificent drunkard and a magnificent stoner, and to argue over which is more destructive or which is the "better" drug is retarded. It's like comparing dogs and cats--both are great animals and make great pets, but for different reasons. What I can honestly say, for me anyway, is that sobriety has been better than either drug--no shit!
I'm not "WHINING", Shay...I have a stance re. pot vs. booze. As for you, your comment is a rather poor attempt to make an observation, wouldn't you say. Maybe this whole subject is tough for you, being an addict?? But, hey, good for you and your sobriety. However, a person who lives in a glass house shouldn't throw stones, right. Your better than that, Shay...Time to freshen up my cocktail!!!
@Supertramp1966 Dude, the subject is not tough for me. After all this time, I have no cravings for either drug. And I have a stance on both drugs--they were both fucking great. I had a good run on both, man. Now I'm having a good run without them. I wasn't aware that I threw stones other than the "whiner" comment, but really, arguing over which is better/worse--alcohol or pot--is pretty goddamn stupid. Apples and oranges, baby.
You impress me, Shay. Your a better man than me if you can handle that volley of criticism I laid on you and still take the high road...That's a damn rare thing these days. I could say a lot more but I'll leave it at that... PEACE, brother...
Who cares about your "18 years of sobriety"??? Much more impressive than that...Frank Sinatra drank 25 cocktails a day and lived to be 83. Now that's a full life!!!!!
@Supertramp1966 Hey, I love Frank, and you get no argument here. Dude, I tried to tailor my comment to keep it personal to me. For me, sobriety has been better. Now, I had a good run as a drunk and addict, almost 20 years (I started very young), but my sober years have been better--I've traveled the world, lived in amazing places, fucked a higher caliber of women, and accomplished more interesting things. So in answer to your question of who cares ... well I guess I do/
Also, you can't die from smoking pot. You can easily die from alcohol. When you smoke too much, you eat everything and pass out. You drink too much in black out, you may wind up waking up in prison not remembering shit. I work at a hospital, trust me when I say alcohol has way worse effects. Everything in moderation. Pot is also beneficial to people who has anger issues, alcohol usually is not.
@TwiztidPlaymateX true. however, people should never underestimate weed's effect on your brain. it simply turns you into a dumb, indifferent and lazy being on a long term. i simply dislike the aftermath of smoking it. you drink alcohol and the only price you pay on the next day is a well deserved headache. weed, you have less drive and concentration for days. if you can afford it, go ahead. but whenever i do it, my job/university output suffered big time. that's why i've quit.
Why is it when people toke they're automatically thown into the "stoner" label? To each his own. Everything effects everyone differently. I'm in med school right now with 4.0 gpa. Minus wine in moderation being good for your heart, alcohol has NO benefits on the human body. I gave my college persuasive speech on the legalization and medical benefits of marijuana...I got an A. Ask ANY doctor which is better for you, medical marijuana exists for a reason. Regardless, it's a matter of perception.
this guys a moron, drinking a beer and he says drugs are bad, beer is a drug, cigarettes are a drug. so this guy is using two drugs at the same time he is bitching about marijuana (hypocritical) im suprised people idolize this drunken puddle
what a fucking MORON.

Supertramp1966 2 weeks ago
@Supertramp1966 I see you're refering to your ex and not yourself. I have 25 years of experience with BOTH alcohol and pot, and I assure you: a drug is not like any and every other drug.
If you toss out a statement like that, then YOU'RE the ignorant gobbler.
Your ex. used to smoke pot...hmm...and you sometimes drink a beer or a glass of wine then, maybe?
Thesortvokter 2 weeks ago
@Thesortvokter
Supertramp1966 2 weeks ago
@Supertramp1966 Why the fuck do I have to explain myself again??
The point clearly is:
Buk is just trying to justify HIS OWN drug of preferance, and all statistics show that alchoholics IN GENERAL have miserable lives. His advice to everyone else that they should choose alcohol instead of other drugs reveals a weakness in his line of thought, since HIS SPECIFIC opinions on this subject does not apply to THE GENERAL POPULATION; Hence: He's just trying to justify himself.

The reality is when you're an addict you're a slave.
drmodestoesq 1 month ago
@drmodestoesq
Cocktails!!
Supertramp1966 1 month ago
@drmodestoesq very true, sell your addiction and rubbish all others to rationalise your dependance to yourself, classic traits of the addict ('hey at least it's not smack/coke/ barbs'). other peoples lives seem more interesting 'cause they ain't mine.........
commradedave 1 month ago
@commradedave Also, notice one of the things he likes about alcohol is one of the things the rest of us hate the most about drunks: confrontationalism. He actually is proud of the fact that his community (drunks) are violent and confrontational. When the alcoholics across the street from me start screaming at each other at 1 am the last thing I'm thinking is what a great social stimulant alcohol is. But the worst thing is to have to work alongside a confrontational person.
drmodestoesq 1 month ago
@drmodestoesq I know, it's fairly bizzare that he would choose that side of booze as a favorite, as you say, there is not much more brain damage than a confrontational drunk, endlessly repeating the same tired old arguments, desperate to be the centre of attention as if to prove to themselves that they still exist. does my nut in, I know a few and it's pretty tiresome.
commradedave 1 month ago
(DISCLAIMER: no disrespect intended)
hmmm to say to be anti-drugs with a beer and a cigarette is kinda funny
I just think it's a drunk's mind trying to convince itself that it's doing the right drug.
Everybody should be free to do their drug of choice cause let's face it, everybody's on drugs. Prescription or otherwise. It helps cope with reality. Pick your poison and be happy.

Who is Bukowski to say that people who are like "heeey heeey" are not intelligent!? Just because a person doesn't act in an academic manner or is always on point doesn't mean they aren't intelligent. I strive to be more "heeeey heeey" because I am constantly thinking in logical patterns and academic obnoxiousness.
lorendorky 1 month ago
@lorendorky
I understand what you're saying. I get it, but keep in mind Bukowski grew up in the 1920's he was exposed to all kinds of different kinds of social behaviors. Today the " heeey heeey" pot smoking individual is more accepted. It most likely wasn't dominate around that time. But I do agree that an individual may hold back on their ability to converse in an intellectual manner, even if they are an academic scholar.
jaydecay123 1 month ago
@lorendorky Heeey maaan, good point. I am intelligent (TOOT! - thats my horn), but I do not feel the need to alter my grammer or style of vocabulary to suit some drunk cynic. Perhaps if he smoked some weed he wouldn't have been such a miserable arse. Either way, being stoned is good (for me at least) for reflective and abstract thought whereas with drink, well, slebbery mess.
commradedave 4 weeks ago
@commradedave
Supertramp1966 4 weeks ago
@Supertramp1966 Yeah man, I see your point, it is fairly subjective. I know people who have fucked themselves on booze (angry alchys that get stabby with knifes - hooray for Scotland) and I know people who are fucked with weed (do nothing but sit around, being weird) and folk who have died from smack (which fucks everyone). It really is what each person can handle and which each person finds most conducive to the lifestyle they want to lead. Moderation, I suppose, is the key.
commradedave 3 weeks ago
@Supertramp1966 Apart from smack of course, which it seems to be an impossibilaty to take in moderation, hence the high volume of dead smackheads I have known (I don't associate, there's just a real issue with heroin (and booze) in Scotland, junkies everwhere, it's a fucking shame and governments want to sort this infected societal wound with a 'band-aid' (it's a plaster over here). 'Keep it illegal!', 'Make it more expensive!' - social decay and this is what they come up with.
commradedave 3 weeks ago
Notice the way he drinks at the end of the video. This dude does not drink alcohol, he consumes it.
MaxwellGreene1 1 month ago
I would also like to add, contrary to what some people may believe, a fact is not an intangable idea, it is not abstract, it is something that has been proven time and again through rigorous study. The lancet is a medical journal. Thought i'd clear that up before some less than intelligent being stumbles across that comment and does what they are inclined to do - say something stupid.
commradedave 1 month ago
Hey what works for some doesn't for others. But I will say that it is a FACT that alcohol is more damaging to the well being of an individual that cannabis is if taken on a regular basis. Some unfortunate souls do develop mental illnesses due to drug use, but on the whole, cannabis is by far the lesser of two evils. Legality counts for very little. Why not read some articles in The Lancet before shooting off? Plus he was an alcy, so his opinions on booze are bound to be a little squefty.
commradedave 1 month ago
@commradedave

What I can honestly say, for me anyway, is that sobriety has been better than either drug--no shit!
