towing really isn't really about horsepower, infact it has nothing to do with horsepower, its about torque. But you could throw a turbo diesel with 300 ft. pounds of torque in it, and it still wouldn't be suitable for towing much because it is lightweight, with fwd brakes for a small car and unibody construction
