I've seen a technique where instead of braiding hair around the synthetic hair, you just take a little  of the synthetic hair, fold it over the larger bundle of synthetic hair and grab a small section in the front and proceed to braid like shown. I like it better because the color is more uniform throughout the braid.

I guess I've been doing an inverted french braid this whole time and didn't know it... so you have to kinda braid UNDER to make the braid kinda pump up...or it will be flat..

braids usually are so that they can stay in the hair longer than a week. It should loosen up in days. This way there is no money lost.
