well, the view distance was much farther back then, the terrain was so beautifully shaped instead of the current 80% flat wasteland, and the bushes looked much cooler when they were sprites. it's also brighter and more colorful, nowadays scenery is rather dull.

I agree with the view distance, but the characters, buildings and everything looked that unrealistic. I didn't like that, so that's why i like it better nowadays.

However (i think) we can both agree..It's an epic game :D
