If you hold the spark plug wire I'm pretty sure you'll give yourself a little jolt! :) Shouldn't you include grabbing the wire with the plug in it with insulated pliers or channel locks?
@diederrr They're called clip-ons. They have a clamp that goes around the fork tube. From my experience, clubman bars aren't as comfortable as clip-ons.

Another good idea is to feel the exhaust pipes after the bike has run for a few seconds. Tough each one, they should all be warm and the same temp... Always check the oil too...

That's a very good point, I carry a digital infrared thermometer for this purpose.
