This band is pretty good, but c'mon they are an exact copy of Oceanborn-era Nightwish. It's almost shameful how much they stole their sound, but they at least are a good clone band.
Believe it or not, genres of music actually consist of more than one band. Nightwish is not the only symphonic metal band with a female opera singer, and I'm sick of seeing people shout, "Tarja!" and "Nightwish!" on every song that can be described as such. Instead of being close-minded, how about we allow ourselves to enjoy multiple bands so that we're not listening to the same people over and over again, hmm?
American record corporations destroy real music. A band is only as good as it's demo and debut album. If they're successful, their management and record company decides to make as much money as possible and that's by breaking the American market, which isn't about the music anymore. Business and music should never mix. I'm all for success, but not at the expense of the music or catering to Fucking braindead Americans and what they believe ''taste is''. Fuck off!
@angels77100 Dude, I'm not a freaking "braindead American". All of my friends and I agree that Italian powermetal is the best in the world. And it doesn't take "Amercanizing" for a band to break into the American market. I loved Dragonforce before the business aspect came in. And even the Americans agree with you on that point. They appreciate powermetal just as much as you do, so lay off. I just wish bands would advertise in America while they're sill new. Then they wouldn't need to change.
@Semtater I agree with you 100%. But you and your friends like me are an exception. We're not the mass American market that the record companies are looking for. Like me, you probably really dig in looking for new and upcoming talented acts especially from Europe and then watch them change their style for the worse. Dragonforce hahahaha I don't really them dude, as I've never taken them seriously. You ruined a pretty good comment even mentioning them.
@nnppluskoh Well yes. Hopefully the original Nightwish (Tarja) before they started introducing that ridiculous male singing that added nothing to Nightwish. Before 'once' Nightwish were amazing. But Operatika have been around for ages. I got their demo which was superb, followed by their debut which was pretty solid. Now they've turned a break into an eternity and seem to have lost that window of opportunity. They could have been the New Nightwish.
I've been into this band for about 3 years now. Got the demo and wait almost two years for thier first album to be released. They had ''bassist'' problems. Now vocalist Slava Popova is off having a baby the long awaited second album is prosponed. This is the style Nightwish should have continued with instead of selling out breaking the American market.
@angels77100 I'm pretty sure they were successful outside of Finland before Century Child and Once. and if what you say is true, you make it sound like it's the fault of the American companies. No one forced Nightwish to change their sound, clearly they made this decision to change on their own.
@ComaLies225 They were successful outside Finland. Like a lot of good European bands. Of course they were, but they sold out with ''Once'' which was made to ''break'' the American mainstream market. Ie; brings bands like the old Nightwish to mainstream listeners like yourself, who otherwise would never have heard of them. That way everyone wins except the real fans.
@emiblindside Wrong. Record companies are there to make money, bands are there to make money. Music gets in the way of business and business gets in the way of music. For a European band to ''break'' the American market they have to change their style. Bands who stick to their original European sound are usually dropped by the record company. Operatika are American with an adopted European style. Which they'll change at the request of the company to suit the American market.
It does not get any more dwarf than the Dwarven Dwarf...rofl..Great site...found you here following a Therion thread...thanx for being here...it is hard to find a CD store up here in the mts..lol..I salute you!!..Peace..Ack
can't believe the references to Nightwish, they always had their own style (quite lost after Once as they tried to get "heavier" to sell more) so other bands just had a female singer and doing melodic metal but not resembling Nightwish really
I really like Operatika, technical level is very high (singer could maybe get better at getting more variety), songs are catchy
Try Luca Turilli, now THERE is some skilled melodic powermetal. He was the lead guitarist for Rhapsody of Fire before he broke off and did his own thing. They're all really good.
u think so? i think itsmore nightwish than epica, i mean, epica uses instruments in pretty much every song. nightwish (with tarja) was basically toumas and tarja for the "classical" element, didnt use and orhestra in too many songs
I think its nice. It isn't amazing, but it is nice nonetheless. And its best to listen to the music and not compare it to Nightwish. They are their own, and so is this. Leave it at that.
well, we needed something to replace Nightwish now that they have awful and talentless Annete screeching for them. This is WAY better than new Nightwish.
This band is pretty good, but c'mon they are an exact copy of Oceanborn-era Nightwish. It's almost shameful how much they stole their sound, but they at least are a good clone band.

It's not fair to compare Operatika and Nightwish. Seriously. Nightwish is not the Symphonic Metal band out there. Get that through your heads.
