I have a 2005 Magnetic Red C6 Corvette. The car has minor to moderate swirls all over the car. my question is what do I do about chips? I have a bunch in my front and rear Wheel wells. I have have a few on my door from an egg that was thrown on to the car. I Plan on washing, claying , and waxing the car this spring with Zaino Z-2 Pro. The chips went right threw the paint as you can see the primer. Any advice would be useful. Thank you Junkman for your very informative video's! Nice Vette too!
generally, if you could feel a scratch with your fingernail, it's too deep to polish out and will probably be resolved by filling it with paint and sanding and polishing it again.
Only if it is through the clear coat and into the paint will you use that extreme measure, Most folks will make a scratch look much, much worse when doing that. Touch up paint is best left to someone who knows what they're doing when dealing with scratches.
No custom job on this car. The paint job is a mess because I never take care of it, the car is rusting everywhere and I never wash the thing. It sits outside and roast in the summer, and gets salted to death every winter.
your dad would be proud of you, you do good work

Z2 may not be strong enough to get rid of your swirls. You may need to use Z-PC Fusion.
As for your chips, do a search for Langka or Dr. Colorchip. They both will remedy your problem.
Thanks for your compliments!

At what point do you paint a scratch, then sand the paint bump down vs. sanding out the scratch. That's what I'm trying to come to grips with.
It would be interesting to see a vid fixing that paint chip

That's simple. If the scratch is through the clear coat, it must be painted. If it is not too deep into the clear coat, then it can be sanded out.
Fixing paint chips is something I'm still working on..

Hey Junkman, I think this car has a custom paint job, am I correct?
The clear coat is very uneven!!
Maybe that's what you are trying to address by wetsanding in your later videos, but I haven't watched those yet.
Good vids.
