  • incredible review !!! one of the best presentations ive seen so far!! fact filled with enough data to keep me thinking with no unnecessary chatter or waxing poetic. i am impressed sir!! KUDOS!!

  • awesome review man

  • nice video mate, keep up the good work!!!

  • BRILLIANT VIDEO. congratulation.

  • My wife has several dragonfly spydercos. Her small hand/ thumb keeps her using the spyderco hole versus the byrd teardrop. How do you think the dragonfly compares to the Chicago or the squeak?

  • It´s nice to see mm in youtube reviews.

  • @SCAREDBANANA What is "mm"?

  • @stschmalhaus millimeter :)

  • @SCAREDBANANA LOL... ok.

  • Perfect review

  • thumbs up if you thought it was a fake accent for the first few soconds O.o

  • @TedOfNod ???

  • @stschmalhaus lol i apologize. I thought your accent was fake. After the first few seconds, i discovered i was wrong. There are so many people on youtube who do the accent (like the dude in TheGradualReport). Hope i didn't offend you. Peace :)

  • @TedOfNod No problem. Unfortunately, my accent is real.

  • How would this compare to the Spyderco Ambtious?

  • @CaptIvanDanko I would prefer the Ambitious over the Byrd Robin because of the better ergonomics of the handle. But I would always prefer the Dragonlfy over the Ambitious because of the high-end blade steel (VG-10 vs. 8Cr13Mov).

  • excellent review, i was wondering about the difference between the two. subbed

  • is the frn robin steel lined

  • @silentsniper441 Yes, there are nested steel liners.

  • Yea but i dont have a good camera and im shy about my voice :)

  • Superb comparison vid thank you for that!I have the old FRN Dragonfly and i hated the molded clip but today i sawed that thing off with a metalsaw and finished it with sandpaper = now im happy with it :)

  • @TheValineurheilija Thank you! - You should have done a video of your knife modding.

  • My FRN Robin 2 just came in- nice little knife! Fit and finish is a bit off here and there, but it locks up better and feels better/stronger than my FRN Delica 4. I can't see myself ever seriously using this knife without the short choil grip.

  • i got the robin2 g10 and its absolutely perfect for edc. i bought the persistence and caly3 but both were still a bit big for my personal taste and the robin actually feels a bit better than my persistence for the g10 scales. if i had the money i would have gotten the more prettier dragonfly but for everyday use you cannot go wrong with this knife..

  • Very nice, thank you! I have a Delica 4 that I rather dislike (FRN feel and overall strength of the knive) but the Byrd 2 knives look more in line with what I'd like (choils!!) and pay for a Spyderco (I am not really a fan of their designs). The Robin and Meadowlark do look rather wide across when closed. The Dfly seems a bit narrower but if I don't like the strength of the D4 I won't like the linerless Dragonfly. The G10 Dfly seems to have liners but that's way too expensive for a pocket knife.

  • I enjoyed your comparison video, those are both great options at that size category. My wife has a Dragonfly Tattoo version and she loves it. Take care!

  • thank you for even mentioning my video. i love your channel. you are a true gentleman. i think that spyderco even upped their quality with the second generation of the byrd line. i love the steel liners in these small knives. i would not go hacking through a clamshell with the dragonfly but i would with the much stiffer robin. i just wouldnt want to subject the good slicer to the torsional stress. good vid as always

  • @PavlovSandor You are more than welcome, Pavlov! I really enjoyed your review on the first generation Dragonfly and Robin.

  • Excellent comparison. I have no experience with these knives, and yet it's almost like I know them very well thanks to you. If I were interested in purchasing them, this would help immensely. What's next on your comparison list?

  • @DemonHide Thank you very much for your kind words! - I don't have such a list. Is there anything special you would be interested in?

  • @stschmalhaus Nope, just curious. Since I don't generally look for knives myself, I hear about things I may be interested it when others talk about them!

  • Very nice comparison.

  • Great comparison video!!! I already have a g-10 dragonfly, and it is one of my favorite small folders. I think i might have to pick up the dragonfly 2 as well! Thank you for the video, excellent job as always, Stefan!

  • @bigbubba5037 Thank you, Christian!

  • Another great review from the Stefan!

I dig my DF 2; she's works perfectly as an EDC blade. Without a doubt it's a step up from the original.

  • @ATF6281914 Thank you, Andrew!

  • Nice overview, well done.

Question: are you certain that the FRN Robin has the same kind of metal liners as the G10 variant? It doesn't look that way on pictures. But if not, then why is it so much heavier than the FRN Dragonfly?

  • @MrDagon007 Thank you! - As for the Robin 1, I know that the steel liners are nested inside the FRN handle. I don't think that Spyderco changed this construction on the Robin 2.

  • @MrDagon007 The FRN Robin has nested liners, like on the Delica and Endura.

  • @brottarnacke thanks for the clarification !

  • Very thorough review, my friend. That's one attribute a lot of reviewers don't have, they also tend to run off and tell stories in the middle of a review

Also, VG10 looks more frosted than 8Cr13MoV's more satin finish

    Thanks for your effort!

  • @ay735 Thank you for your kind words! - I script my videos beforehand, that keeps me from digressing into other topics.

  • I think that the david boye dent also greatly helps in finding the are of the lock bar to press down without looking at the knife or in the dark

  • @samtheman773 Yes, maybe.

  • Love your use of the lanyard as a bookmark, great idea!

  • Thanks for this excellent comparison review video. It has given me some ideas. Thanks again.

  • Great review, and very thorough. The Dragonfly is a well thought out design.

  • really precise thorough comparison thanks for uploading

  • @TheEvrael Thanks for watching!

  • Ever since i saw the dragonfly i fell in love with it!!!!! Great comparion, and i'm really looking forward to getting the dragonfly 2 :). I like the the spydie hole more than the byrd hole for some reason :). but both great knives!! HAHA Pavlov yeah :D, he's a great guy, and he did a good job comparion the 1st generation versions :)

  • @TheLazySpoiledKitty Thank you, Caspar! - Yes, Pavlov is the man if you ever wanted to see someone abusing his wife as a tripod and even calling her "tripod". I like her comments from the off.

  • @stschmalhaus I'm the one who started the "tripod" thing :P. Pavlov loved it and started calling her that haha :P. Poor Pavlovs wife :P.

  • @TheLazySpoiledKitty Poor Caspar's girlfriend... LOL

  • @stschmalhaus I don't call my gf "tripod" :P. Only sweet nicknames if i do say to myself :P

  • @TheLazySpoiledKitty Hmm, for some German girls even "tripod" would be a sweet nickname.

  • @stschmalhaus So i see you have some experiance calling a girl "tripod" :D!!! J/K with you Stefon ;). Alright take care my friend, gotta go, stuff do to, Duties call!!! :)

  • I'm thinkin about the dragonfly for the wife. Great size for her. Great vid as usual

  • @takenomorimonster Thank you! - Yes, for some reason the Ladybug and the Dragonfly are especially appealing to women (or at least to my girlfriend).

  • Oh, it's better now. lol

I like these knives, they're just too small for me. lol

  • @GMGvanS Yeah, small knives like these might get lost in big hands... LOL

  • I hate how these video's are poor quality when they've been put up a few minutes ago...
