hey guys.. this is a laptop LCD spinning over 1200RPM with a software that splits a 3d computer generated image at 360 degree images ..i.e there is 360 image of the 3d each at 1 degree rotation from the other and are then passed to the rotating LCD which is rotating a displaying each frame at its position to give the image.. If two people are viewing the display from opposite sides, they will see two different images (the one standing in front will see the front, while the person in back sees the back). If the projection was 2D, you would see the same projection no matter where you stood. This prototype is actually physically moving the light in three-dimensional space.

However, I meant that the 2d image had a very small field of view, and lots of individual views are rendered at small angle increments. A person behind the display would see a different image (flipped over Y axis) because it is a completely different rendering. I do not think this is the best way of doing it as it is hard to get individual viewpoints when looking from top and bottom

See it as putting a torch in front of an object and the reflected light is put as the image. Now imagine this done all around the picture. Its a bit hard to explain simply by words.

I did some research and found out they're using a mirror to project the image. There is a spinning mirror in the middle, and at every degree, the image is updated. Sony bought this idea, it was also used in 3d tele confrencing.

This and OLED are the future pf displays. Being able to display an image in 3D from any angle is superior than a simulation of 3D from a 2D display. I'm sure this tech is 2 years from commercial sale, but this seems extremely likely to become the next standard.
