  • damn english... sing in the language it was written for!!

  • @h0wud0in2 If you think about it actually, English is a beautiful language! I mean the way she sings per-pen-dic-u-lar...it flows really well, it's such a soft language. It doesn't matter what language it is in as long as you understand context and emotion.

  • What a voice

  • She went to my High school. That's good enough for me.

  • wrong wrong wrong. I think Ms mullally is very talented but Weimar Weill is not Stephen Sondheim.

  • For the arguers: This song has been sung by Polly OR Lucy depending on the translation. In my travels seeing and hearing it is usually for Polly the leading lady (e.g. In the Alan Cumming recent Bway revival; Raul Julia '77 on Bway; Sting '89 Bway). However, in the famous '50s Blitzstein translation it is done by Lucy.

  • @eggsund then who sang it originally?

  • @agenttheater5 The who originally sang on Broadway was Bea Arthur, sice she was in the original cast of the Threepenny Opera withLottie Lenya.Bea played Lucy Brown.

  • She has a wonderful voice, her songs are all beautiful. Does anyone have these songs?: Bathroom Window, Ode to Billie Joe, Fancy, My Dear Companion, The Grand Tour, Up A Lazy River, I Cannot Justify, Wind And Rain, For The Good Times

  • Great song by an amazing singer/actress. Megan is the sexiest woman ever on a TV series and the funniest. She is intelligent and a great stage actress. What a lady.

  • i like this song, what part of the three penny opera is it from, and who sings it?

  • @fallenlilyrose It's in Act 2. Lucy sings it while visiting Mack in jail.

  • can I get this on mp3 somewhere? i looooove it.

  • There is no Barbara in the 3d Opera. The name is taken from the German 'barbaren' or 'barbarians', nothing to do with a person named Barbara. You probably already knew, but I was happy to find this out.

  • Amazing i just love her voice! where did u find the picture @ 1:52

  • I believe Lucy Brown sings this song (at least in all of the versions I've seen), not Polly Peachum

  • @sammistarlet It's for Polly, right after she returns from getting married and tells her parents.

You might be referring to the song "Pirate Jenny," which is usually given to Jenny, even though it's scripted for Polly to sing at the wedding scene before this one.

  • @RalphWiggum08

No, its Lucy. It was originally meant for Polly, but Lucy sings it in most productions.

  • @evitaperon88 not in the latest broadway revival. and likewise for the pirate jenny song,

  • The finest rendition of a Weill song I have ever heard - and I have heard a lot!

  • omg i lov this sooo much!! ive listned to it 3 times!

  • I've never heard her version of this song and its incredible!!! I wish I had "Big as a Berry".

  • Damn. I got chills hearing this

  • stellar voice, divine woman.

  • I had no idea the woman could sing. And very well at that.

  • I love how this song showcases what a terrific character actress she is, I mean the role Polly Peachum is far different to that of Karen Walker.

  • omg I love thbis song!

  • wherever did you get this from?

  • Its on her cd "As Big as a Berry" you should check it out; she sings some great songs.
