I am very interested to learn paragliding or hang-gliding. I know that para gliding is easier to learn but how long can you stay up in the air, and how does the feeling of flying compare to hang gliding?

@drpiddleton Paragliding is much more convenient since it takes 26 seconds to get ready to fly instead of 30-45 minutes to setup your hang glider and the same to tear it down. How long you stay up isn't much different until you get up to super ultra high end setups. I do both but I never hang glide any more because paragliding is so much simpler and quicker. Are those High Voltage Electrical Transmission Towers/Lines I see in the background? If so, i guess it is hard to see from the video how far away they actually are?

I've seen alot of vids of collapses of the paraglider wings I was thinking of doing this but now I'm sort of scared. do things like that happen often should I be scared.

@samssegal Zero people have ever died on WPPGA certified equipment and only a couple injuries both from really stupid stuff. This sport is about as safe as it gets as long as you stay away from the usppa scam and get truly certified equipment and instruction. If you need any help just ask if you like. Dell 800-707-2525

Im thinking of taking up paragliding; i am also thinking of taking up hangliding, what do you think is better? (better meaning safer, faster, and generally funner)

I'm both a hang glider pilot and paraglider & motor pilot. Paramotoring is the best by far. It takes me about 30 minutes to setup a hang glider and another 30 to tear it down. Then you can only do it where they is a free flying site and then only when the weather is just right. It is a total pain in the butt. With a Flat Top paramotor I can be ready to fly anywhere, anytime in about 60 seconds. Packing up is about the same. Nothing touches flying a Flat Top!!!

@leeky1988 The Flat Top is refering to the high end paramotor unit that all the team Red Bull pilots fly. Once you gain your paraglider skills you use the Flat Top paramotor to push you anywhere you could like to go. Too darn fun. Lessons are $975 - $2500 depending on who you train with. The K2 from Sky Paragliders all the way. You get more performance than pretty much every 1-2 on the market but with 800% better safety! The K2 is the ultimate. The only DHV 1-2 that has matched the glide performance is the Obsession from U-Turn. The K2 is the biggest advancement in the history of paragliding that I have ever seen. There is no close second that I know of.
