  • Michael Flatley is a living "Steve Jobs" of Irish dance.

He must be written in textbooks of the world history!...

  • I am 44 and I still want to go back.

  • i regret quitting so much!! that was 7 years ago and to this day i still wish i didn't make that decision. i was young, and pretty decent and feel like i could've been really good if i stuck with it, but i decided to quit to do cheerleading, then quit that to do swimming. im a good swimmer but not happy with it at all and wish i still danced. the only thing is if i never quit dance and at that time still wanted to cheer then i wouldn't have been happy dancing. it's a lose lose situation with me.

  • whose the raven hottie doing all the talking

  • @jess50945

i started dancing about 1 1/2 years ago, i was eleven then and dancing with four and five year olds, now i'm 13 and dancing with 7 and 8 year olds

someday i'll make it into a class with kids my age. but those little kids can be really good, 2 of my school's national team dancers are 6

  • @disgrl4 thats michael flatley?

  • I love looking at these girls dancing they are so good looking.

  • Ahhhh......I hope to get there some day....O'shea chaplin rules!!!

  • Holy Sizzle. That girl at 2:01 is from my school and this is the first time I noticed that..?! I've watched this like 10 times! Well GEE I've got bad eyesight.

  • Wow...you can tell the girl at 2:01 is from central jersey o_O the tan??

  • @buddygirl06 our tans are fake...

  • I knew Megan she was a excel g dancer at my old academy and she still works her butt off!!

  • the dutch men is looking right now

  • Gotta love micheal flatly

  • @xPickyourselfup You can always go back! I didn't start competing until I was your age. You can always get fitter, and you're not going to be starting from scratch.

  • I regret quitting so much now, i was doing very well but two years ago i quit because i lost interest. all my friends keep saying you can just go back - but i can't though, they don't understand - i would be in that age group U13 and my fitness levels are down too much i wouldn'tt be able to do it.. :'(

I miss the reel the most, bouncing and dancing in the air on the big stage as high as i can - i really miss that, alot :'( I just want to go back..

  • @xPickyourselfup hi, it's never too late to start again, now more than ever this is actually possible. we witness every day man's ability to do wonders, we are surprised every day by so much one can accomplish if he sets its mind to it, if he wants it bad enough. so if you really miss it just go back, i'm sure you will be amazing :)

  • @soirese Yeah, I'm just starting at age 19! Sure, competition will be harder for you, but if you love it enough that won't matter.

  • @xPickyourselfup Go back! You will love it even more =) I went back!! And I was gone for nearly 10ys!!! Best thing I ever did!!!

  • @xPickyourselfup You can go back if you want to. I was 8 when I stopped competing due to changing schools and then quit all the way when I was 10. I cam back to it when I was 15. I am so Happy I did. That was 5 years ago and now I dance on the National level. It takes dedication and hard work and a supporting school but you can do it. It really depends on the school cause I didnt start doing well untill 2 years after I came back and switched schools!

  • @xPickyourselfup i would deffinetely encourage you to go back to dancing! :D i stopped when i was 12 and went back a few months ago when i was 15, now i enjoy dancing again and all the fancy steps and love it more than ever! :D

  • @xPickyourselfup They are right! You could go back! Even if you don't want to compete and do it just for the love of dance! or start competing again and work your self up, there should be no shame in it .We all go through times were we loose interest or are unsure about something. I had to stop dancing due ankle surgery, I went through PT, but never got back at it. This past summer after almost 4years I started dancing again, and now I am Captain of my college's Irish Dance Team!

  • @xPickyourselfup Hey there, I wouldn't get your hopes down like that... I did very well when I was doing irish dancing and I quit at 12 years old because my parents couldnt afford it anymore. I'm now 21 years old, and just went back 3 weeks ago! 9 years of not dancing and I'm already training for the nationals!

Fitness shouldn't be a problem, you'll get that back easy :) go do a a couple of classes and see how it feels!

  • @xPickyourselfupI had to quit for about 3 years bc i couldnt make the classes But i joined again and im 16 &dancing with 9 yr olds im trying to get into opens to be with people my own age & the thing that really sucks is that when i first started dancing my dance teacher had so much faith in me. I was her favorite student and at the age of 6 she tried to get me to make a "career" out of it & go to worlds...

  • @xPickyourselfup I regret quitting bc i could have been great but i love it & im going to stick with it until i can't dance anymore. because in those 3 years i wasn't dancing, all i wanted to do was dance. its like irish dancing just takes over your legs and brain and you can't help but to start dancing because the feeling of he jumps and tricks is the best in the world. you should try to get back into it. Don't regret not trying again. :) best of luck.

  • @xPickyourselfup Me too! I quit because I broke my foot dancing... I've just been scared that I'd get hurt again. But now i just view it as a BATTLE SCAR!(: And if you miss it that much, it's a sign.(: GO BACK!!!

  • @xPickyourselfup SAME HERE! I quit a few yeard back to play bball and boxing and i still go back and miss it so much i just wanna dance back and fit in my dress ♥ :'(

  • @xPickyourselfup I'm 23 now, I don't have any dance-experience whatsoever, I've never been a very sporty type: but did want to start with irish dancing. That confronted me with my bad fitness level, but I'm holding on to a tight schedule of stretching, gaining strength in my feet and stuff so I one day will get to the point I may get a pair of hard-shoes.

At the moment I've had 8 lessons... and that for someone who really thought he would fail because of a lack of fitness...

  • @xPickyourselfup its never too late to go back, i took time off and im in open U16, im back.. its never too late! if you have a passion for it, stick to it, i regretted ever quitting but now ill never regret not going back, cause im back & happy as ever :)

  • @xPickyourselfup I stopped dancing because I moved to a different country, but now I#m back home and I started again. The people I used to dance with are dancig intermidiate and open now and I'm still in beginners. But:I don't give up! start dancing again if you want to! It's not only about the competitions and levels. I'TS ABOUT FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • God, I miss Irish Dancing. I don't so much miss the competitions but I do miss the dancing. I do terrible under pressure and I'm not very competitive to begin with, lol.

  • @velvetsnape go back! :D you're never too old to start again, you can take irish dance lessons just for fun and not compete :)

  • go Fiona and her dad !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    (1:10)

  • Awww I feel so bad for the girl who slipped :( Brilliant that she kept going though :D

  • aw i know meg largy. she comes to our feis's sometimes. shes so nice.

  • who was the musician who played at this feis???? :) xxx

  • rather plain dress at 2:00, i saw better at Glasgow. A bunch of girls in my schools have Gavins.

  • I loved how the girl kept going after she slipped! The worst is when they just stop/run away crying haha

  • Honestly, at the glitch I almost peed my pants laughing it came so totally out of the blue! But as said before amazing recovery!

  • we have great respect for irish america, love and respect, from ireland!

  • At least she kept going! I remember a few years back at nationals (New Zealand) when this girl bragged about how amazing she was, fell over, and ran off stage crying, and then later it happened to another girl, but she got up with a smile on her face and kept going :) . That's dedication for you.

  • wow! xD who was de musician???? =)

  • of course, it doesnt matter what federation your in or who teaches you, we are all human and everyone has their flaws, or ups and downs hehe ;)

  • you notice, even champion dancers have their little flaws, like i saw one looking down... one wasnt really lifting, and one couldnt even get a kick above their waste!!!

  • :D my dance teacher was friends with michael flately!!! lol

  • MICHAEL FLATELY!!! Woot Woot

  • uh oh boo boo at 2:43 nice recovery though
