Since the non-requirement of Corps of Cadets involvement, the series between the Longhorns and Aggies have been tight. In the past 25 years, the Aggies own it! All this is too obvious. Gig'Em!!!!!
Bucky and Lewis ran through that "defense" like crap through a goose in a preview of the debacle in the Cotton Bowl against Miami. David McWilliams, Stanley Richard and the Cash twins should apologize to the entire State of Texas for that embarrassment.
that cotton bowl was excellent.....its what made everyone hate miami even more i have that game on tape. the best part was randal "thrill" hill scoring and running up the tunnel and breaking out the six shooters lol lol stanley should have never opened his big mouth. hes still having nightmares of that game.
It came from the fact that Texas had been bad since they played for the title in 1983. No one was expecting them to do anything that year, and A&M had beaten them 6 years in a row.
Texas had no shot at the national title in 1990. Had they beaten Miami in the '91 Cotton Bowl, Texas still would have finished behind Colorado and Georgia Tech, who would eventually split the national championship that year.
But Texas didn't know that when they played Miami. The Cotton bowl was (and still pretty much is) the first bowl game played on New Year's Day. A Colorado loss in that night's Orange Bowl could have given Texas a share of the title. But the 46-3 blowout made a possible Notre Dame win over CU irrelevant.
I remember listening to this game on radio. It appeared that UT abandoned their typical game plan and simply hit the Aggies in the mouth. That is the main reason why they won this game.

When was the next time Texas got a regular-season game on CBS, if at all?

I know this was the 'Shock the Nation' team of 1990.
Where exactly did the 'Shock the Nation' term come from that year?

Sad that such a great back as Lewis threw his career away on coke. He finished this game as the fourth or fifth all-time leading rusher in the NCAA.
