Nearly all naval operations have been in support of land based efforts, and projections of airpower internationally. Even the Falklands, which isn't that recent anymore, wasn't on the same scale as previous wars, or a potential war with the Soviet Union.

I totally agree to the embarrasing jet blueprint-copying incident. The last time I read about it back in Beijing, our national defense representatives resolved this with Russia. It should have not even taken place as the Russians are our allies. The cost of Russian maintenance and production was key in that one as it was cheaper again to make them in China.

btw, what 6 major victories is the video talking about? WW2, the civil war (from the communists point of view) are the only two i can think of, and the only ones in the last 200 years.

@XxxSakura101 It's pretty clear the guy's a nationalist, he probably considers occupying Tibet a major victory. Fact is, the PLAN, like most modern navies, has yet to be involved in any major naval engagement. Nearly all naval operations have been in support of land based efforts, and projections of airpower internationally. Even the Falklands, which isn't that recent anymore, wasn't on the same scale as previous wars, or a potential war with the Soviet Union.

They are making progress but they are still lagging behind. We are not even sure how their latest vessels stack up against the western ships. I'd given them about 10-20 years.
