I can accept the chemical explanation for the tunnel of light and the good feelings. But what stands the most for me is how the brain supposedly creates this meaningful and orderly experiences at death. He is being deprived of oxygen, dying, but you don't get random hallucinations or lose your sense of awareness like if you were in a system malfunctioning, no, you get coherent situations in which your awareness is full. Coherent dreams are hard to come by, but NDEs always have them?!

There is this scientific/doctor who has been a Neurologist at Harvard University and been doing research on brain and nervous system for ~20 years, He died of a bad case of Meningitis & was dead for a while, somehow he was brought back to life. He said there is No way for the brain to make up these experiences, since he had his own. He was on Science Channel (I post the link on your profile page).

Susan Blackmore has been disapproved by various scientific studies in the meantime from filming this documentary to this day. However you must admire how someone can be so adamant and arrogant when presenting their ideas and theories. @fhofho00 I was referring to her mention of the "lack of oxygen" theory which is disapproved by Dr. Parnia in 1998 which is even mentioned. Dr. Parnia is continuing the research on the same field to this day. As for her other claims none of her claims are supported by valid scientific research but rather her own assertive opinion which she obviously states "She thinks, she believes..." etc.

I find it ridiculous tho she tries to explain a single phenomenon by so many theories, almost childish.

As for Susan Blackmore she has no study, no research and no validity for her clams...its what she thinks, what she believes, etc. Sam Parnia on the other hand does research, works with real patients and thus has validity.

Also we cannot really prove wheter consciousness survives or not after death....we have indications that people are still "there" as long as 1 hr till they are clinically dead. However that hardly gives us the answer what really happens when we start dying or die.

Some really interesting theories so far, but I have yet to see anyone discuss the correlation between bio-neural energy and the first law of thermodynamics. In biology, I was taught that physical death (Heart stops, respiration) is death. This does not include the brain. Brain death is different. This documentary makes no sense so far. You can be technically dead, but it will still take minutes for the brain activity to stop entirely. Watch people in the process of dying. Posturing, involuntary muscle spasms.. these happen after the heart and lungs stop because of residual brain activity.

This feels like pseudo-science so far.
