  • All show, no practical example of a kata. Score a D+ on this Kata or a 2.5 on a score card.

  • for some of my kata's with weapons i take off my gi top as well to avoid it hooking in the bagginess of the sleeve

  • shite !

  • I am wondering, why does he only throw one kick with his left leg? What martial art would create such a one sided kata?

  • What is wrong with his left leg. He only kicks with his right side. I witnessed 2 competitors in CT a few years ago perform a similar kama kata and one guy stuck himself in the ass and the other sliced off a piece of his ear. Great performance for torture suicide.

  • The Gi top had to come off so he can impress himself to the women in the audience. Line of for autographs and kisses at the end of his performance. He really loves himself. How many women actually lined for the the autographs from Ninja Turtle man?

  • ehhhh, jacob pinto > this dude.

  • Id like to see him do that with sharpened Kamas instead of competition Kamas.

  • how come know one grunts like Bruce lee, its actually more effective lol..ive always done it, people start to laugh than i hit them with my spinning hook kick biaaattccchhh.

  • This is a well done show! I like the attention to details. The demonstrator keeps the kicks nice and balanced along with paying attention to his posture. I also like the element of "flash". I would have never guessed to use the kama like nunchaku with the wrist loops. Very innovative! A lot of people like to criticize "flash" on Youtube, but then they go enjoy a nice Kung Fu flick. Personally , I prefer functionality, but flash has it place. I think this guy delivered a great show!

  • My what a hairy noisy man....lol.

  • We scream to show our power and will. It comes straight from the gut that puts more power and explosiveness in out moves - I should know, I'm one of the loudest my school has lol.

Anyway it's true how sometimes ppl sound like that, but I am pretty sure I don't tho lol. My ex makes some scary ass faces tho lol

  • why do they always in martial arts they have to scream they sound like they have a shit stuck in theyr ass and they are pushing really hard lol i think thats why i got kick out of tae kwon do for not screaming hahahaha

  • The individual's skill level is exceptional and extraordinary, to say otherwise shows ignorance. In review of the comments: First there is no such thing as a traditional Kama Kata. They are part of the hand tool class of Okinawa, originally used to harvest grains and not in actual war combat. Farmers didn't wear Gis and usually worked without shirts in the fields. His removing his shirt also doesn't impede the weapon when it revolves around him. A higher grip gains more blade control.

  • SUPER NICE

  • This is kata? It has the feel of a bull tearing up sods to impress the other bulls.

Why not have a look at Shihan Nishiuchi, whose calm mind and brilliant form show a lot of how it is done.

  • Watch Budo the art of killing. a REAL master of this art does a demo in that documentary and lets just say theres no EYYA and no kicks either.

This is the reason i will never set foot in any american dojo, what you learn there is in no way shape or form related to okinawa karate

  • @Warlordx91 That's extremely ignorant to say that about all American dojos and it makes you sound racist to put every American dojo into that category (I dont even know if Americans a race?). Anyway, try stepping foot in my dojo, thankfully we have one of the few remaining dojos with any real kobudo training, not this gymnastics shite. Think before you talk.

  • @BMunich16 Of course there are real dojos in america, but that is masked by the fact that there are countless other fake dojos. What i was trying to say is that in American anyone can become a master, you dont need training. I live in America and my words are from my own experiance. I dont doubt that your dojo is legit but you have to realize its hard to find good dojos in america, so im also skeptical when someone claims to be legit.

Please dont take offense, it was not my intention

  • As one of the original Purple Dragons from Goju Ryu who has fought little KA many years ago (the 80's), I know Little KA well also. I also know Steve Lavallee and this kata is almost an exact duplicate of the form that Scott Ogata, Ichi as he was called then and Jeff Ianuzzo used to do. The kicks were not as crisp as their were but I must say the end of the kata shows very good control. I currently live in China as I have for many years and train primarily in iaido. Sensei Donegan

  • As a follow up, where are you from and whom are you training with. I assume you are New York based as that is where KA and little KA spent a lot of time, as well as the Lavallees and the Tearneys, not to forget to mention Denning Davis and Randy Lawrence.

  • @IrelandFein Little KA is FROM NEWARK NEW JERSEY!!!! HE SPENT HIS TIME TRAINING AT KARREIM ABDALLAH'S KA SYSTEM OF SELF-DEFENSE AT 512 SPRINGFEILD AVENUE IN NEWARK NJ. HE WAS GIVEN THE NAME "LITTLE KA" BY GRAND MASTER ABDALLAH. HE DID NOT 'CREATE" HIMSELF, HE WAS TAUGHT "STANDARD STYLE STRAIGHT", ONE OF 25 STYLES CREATED BY MR ABDALLAH. IF ANY INFO ON KA IS NEEDED, HIS HISTORY SHOULD BE KNOWN.

  • @IrelandFein I am Tanya Hill the only female black belt in the K A System and the neice of the Founder of the K A System. Little K A known as Kevin Thompson and I trained side by side at 512 Springfield Ave in Newark NJ not New York. We fought most of our contests in "New York City". Get it right!!!!! For proof go to Tanya T Hill and you will see me fighting for my Shodan with the master in the background.

  • STOP SCREAMING

  • if i find u ur gona buy sum old spice

  • That was pretty awsome.

  • Very skilled and precise. Not familiar with this particular kata or what form it originates but doing those techniques with a kama isn't something you pick up on the weekend. Thanks for the video!

  • I wonder if his crotch is ripped to shreds now...Man, what i wouldn't give to kick like that though...

  • Sharp.

  • I can't speak to the form (I can't even imagine the bunkai!), but I do know I would be corrected if I held the kama that high up the handle - you want what little extra reach you can get at all times, and an inch or two is more than enough to make the difference between death and a miss.

  • Keep your Gi on!!! What are you showing off for all the guys out ther. There are more guys in the stands watching than females are. Faggle.

  • @TheKickinj

His name is Wang Fogle. Get it right

  • pretty lame example of weapons work

  • Dancing? Aerobic? Drama?

  • less noise and more kick ass.

    totally weak.

  • fuck you you idiot

  • this guy aint just old n heavy. he a faggot too!

  • ofcourse he practiced a lot, just not kama technique obviously.

the video is called bad ass kama form, but the guy doesnt show any profeciency with the kama at all.

swinging it around on a string? come on..

its not (good) kata if its doesnt show good technique, if it show made up nonsense, it's not kata.

stuff like this is gives martial arts a bad rep.

  • any gymnast who can rent a power ranger or ninja turtles dvd can learn to do this, without any martial arts training at all.

  • Lets see! Put it on the YouTube! Smarty pants.

  • ok, fair play to call me smarty pants.

so why dont you tell me exactly what this guy is doing from 1: 13 to 1:30?

    (attack to what/defece to what)

and be truly honest, does this have more to do with martial arts, or power rangers and ninja turtles?...

  • @RenshiKF you are right and wrong xma is a very hard pratice of karate i know i have been doing the kamas for 8 years now four years of that all trad the rest was for xma weapons yes your right trad is way more harder but xma has its pain as well

  • yeah right nigga...

    this is sophisticated art..

    Love to the Kata..

  • this is neither sophisticated, nor art, nor kata.

do you know what kata is, and it's purpouse?

I can imagine how someone who doesnt know much about martial art could see this and think: wow! this looks like it takes a loooot of practice, an wow! it even looks like it has historical roots in samurai/ninja culture, just like I like to see in the movies!!!

guess what, just like circus tricks it ofcourse takes a lot of practise, but it's completely made up acrobatic crap. not martial art or kata!

  • well this, yes.. im thinking more on the Freestyle side..

    sophisticeted to me..

someone askes me why i was called "kama" so i showed them some vids of the Kama-Kata, and they understood the meaning to my name, and why iwas given it..

  • of course its an acrobatic stuff, he isnt really fighting, in these presentations they always make spectacular stuff but not ones that needs skill, you should know that if u are involved in martial arts some way! and its not ninja turtles or power rangers, i just dont get it why u bring down a video on youtube, it makes you feel better or something?

  • this video was presented to me by youtube, and since I'm interested in budo weapons I checked it out.

I still think this has more to do with ninja turtles than actual kama weapon form, but it's also lame and negtive of me me to bring down a youtube video just because I see something i don't like.

I guess it's because people look down on real martial arts because of demonstrations like this, instead of giving it the respect the real martial arts deserve.

  • by the way, me being involved in martial arts wouldn't teach me how fantasy demonstrations work.

the two things are not connected.

(accept for tv shows like ninja turtles and power rangers)

  • jealous asshole

  • I take it you are a fan of kama dancing?

    how about nunchaku chearleading?

    the whole genre maybe?

  • So many tournament katas, this one for example, show a high degree of athletic ability but no practical bunkai. His kamas are just props for some type of kicking kata. He demonstrates little proficiency or skill with his chosen weapon.

  • you're an asshole

  • sorry if I hurt ur feelings but ur boyfriend sucks! if u were to give a little more head and ass he wouldn t yell that much miyagiFaggy! Ha ha ! fuck u and whichever is the pathetic reason of ur existence.

  • beats being YOUR asshole u faggot!

  • @KyokushinKichiKai I don't even know if you still go on youtube, but I had to tell you that I agree with your comment. Look at the kama kata done by kevin thompson and you will see the same moves! almost everyone that does this gymnastic type of thing uses the same core moves. Just once I would like to hear a heavyweight cotton gi top snap from real technique.

  • @genious4real You obviously know bullshit when you see it, so I congratulate you. I know Kevin Thompson very well, as he is from my hometown and we used to compete on the NASKA tournament scene. He is still doing his thing, too. I saw him downtown with some of his Team Paul Mitchell teammates yesterday in Washington, DC. He was still in town after competing in the U.S. Capitol Classics. I had not seen him in many years and he still looks good and he is one of the world's best at what he does.

  • @budokichigai I also know Kevin since I am one of only 2 personal students of HIS ONLY REAL TEACHER KARRIEM ABDALLAH. I am proud to say that I train every week with the founder and Grandmaster of the KA System. Kevin as you know was named "Little KA" by him. since I now have more time, I will soon be on the seen fighting in a TRADITIONAL STYLE WITH A TRADITIONAL GI.

  • @genious4real yea, u know u did the technique right when it snaps, my instructor always told us he wants to hear our kicks snap.....Heavyweight gi top, isnt a joke either haha. u sweat in like the first 3seconds haha

  • @jimmymoltesanti dude hes spinning them around if a person with no training at all would cut something off or stab them self's and probably kill them self's this is a very hard thing to do............

  • @Hal0god12345

well, I highly doubt those are anything more than kama-shaped ornaments, so not likely to be sharp.

but realy, of course these kind of performances take practice, so does juggling bowlingpins, or spinning hoolahoops.

it only becomes pathetic when the shirt comes off, and these characters start pretending they are demonstrating martial arts.

they should go join cirque du soleil, exept, then they would completely be outclassed by the average clown there.

  • @jimmymoltesanti as a martial artists who trains in Shotokan, Jujitsu, Judo and Tai Kwon Do, as well as with the Bo, Sai's, Katana, and Kama's I have to say you could not be more wrong.

  • @jimmymoltesanti Y r u stupid? were u dropped on your head!!!!!Probably wen u try it you will fuck urself up so u should shut up bcuz i do the samething and dat shit is hard

  • @jimmymoltesanti wow... you must really like bashing on people who actually give up off the computer and do things... nice.. your a real inspiration....

    RenchiKF- awesome form

  • "Any gymnast", first of all, you act like being a "gymnast" is just a basic thing tought in grade school or something lol

Second, these techniques have to be practiced alot to be this good looking and precise. I do MMA, I train Muay Thai and BJJ/Judo. I use to do taekwondo and my GF is in it now and is starting to do Kama. you have no idea about the art of Taekwondo and what it teaches. In MuayThai I learned how to kick people HARD. But in Taekwondo as a kid I learned how to never need to...

  • @jimmymoltesanti I want to see the gymnast get in a fight with a martial artist then... if they can do everything the same with out training...

  • holy fucking that guy is good

  • oaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Obviously you do not know of the term Bakka.

    Bakka San.

respectfully Bushi Sensei is the reason why we train Kama kata. If it were not for any of the bushi sensei their would not be any Kata to do with weapons, but to call this a kata is to spit on their graves. It is obvious that it is not a traditional Kata...but might I ask why you take your shirt off?...

  • Ask the Martial Artist that is performing this Kata.

  • @brasshandmartialarts well ur a kaba lolololol i know what both mean

  • @brasshandmartialarts now i have the song as i spit on your grave by sinergy stuck in my head also taking shirt off did seem wildly inappropriate, i have never seen that before ever in a karate tournament.

    was lulz

  • It is Renshi Fookes, is this not an Art to be creative. Respectfuly Bushi Sensei is not the Bible of Kama Kata. This is not a traditional Kata. lighten up

  • @RenshiKF Actually you are probably correct, Bushi was in the Gentry class not the common people. He carried one if not two swords most likely. His descendant Master Soken learned most of his Kobudo from another system and not so much from his uncle Nabe Matsumura, Bushi's grandson.

  • Hmm, This video is older than you. So he has been turning in his grave for quite some time now.

  • nice

  • i can see this if there is a creative division for weapons, however this is not real Kobudo

and before any one gets all bent out of shape, I have been a judge of Kobudo for over thirty years

  • This had a lot of flash, and I wish there was a follow up with the bunkai too. Suffice to say that with out seeing that the person knows the substance behind the style, I can't really say whether this is good or bad either way. I can see some practical application in some of the movements(the ones that are not blurred that is...). If there is a bunkai video, I would encourage the owner to post it.

  • Seriously? It was a tournament. He isn't putting on a demonstration of how to fight with kama's.

  • Then what is the point... a bunch of useless flailing? Sure it looks flashy but, as I said, where's substance? I think that gets a my major problem with "kata competitions," all practicality get tossed for a few flips and a splits or two.

  • why the heck did he take his shirt off? can you do that at tournaments?

  • hate to be a downer on this, but there is no real kama technique in this form.

it entertaining, and thats about it.....you may want to have a look at the okinawan demonstration to show real flying kama kata

  • Good showoff. But against another kama fighter that aint much use. All he does is stab towards chest area with a simple stab. Some minor ripping. All towards higher areas and such.

Yes, it's good eyecandy. But get's kinda silly to people who actualy master it in a combat situatuion/seen it in a combat situatuin.

  • yeah because you never know when you can get in one of those crazy street kama fights.

  • "steal your stuff?" okay...I mean whatever, that's fine and all, no one's holding a gun to your head to do a tutorial for people and show off if you don't want to, but it's one thing to give constructive criticism to someone and another to act condescending to someone and insult their best try with a comment like that.

I saw the video I think you're referring to, and yes, the kid and girl were very impressive, but that doesn't mean you have to go bringing down people and disrespecting them.

  • nothing in my comment was disrespectful ,or meant to bring him down . have you ever competed at a tournament or judged. we take the criticism and use it to get better.i have my students thank every judge and ask what he or she could have done better, win or lose....most of the time you get good stuff to take back to the dojo.i look at criticism as a positive good or bad .

  • i dont post videos because ,i saw a kid about 12 or so. doing a kata i made up. in mirror image or backwards whatever.what that means is he got it from watching a video, but to me that is stealing ,i dont blame the kid it came from higher up then him I'm sure. so you see my point....

  • Way to go dude, you ripped that kata! I love flying kamas, they're my most favorite weapon, I hope I can pull those tricks as fast as you can someday.

  • kata is to short and does not have any difficult moves i would give it a 5 out of 10 Ive seen a 8 year old with better weapon control and a lot harder moves ...

  • May I see the video to this 8-year old because this guy wasn't bad at all. He had some decent control and he performed some sick transitions from neck to torso to leg spins at a really good speed. His kicks were just up to par but I thought his weapon handling was very exceptional and rather entertaining.

  • He got first place right?

  • No, Second Place

  • What in guay could beat that?

  • Politics

  • the slightest mistake adn he'd slice himself

  • thats ill dude

  • badass form! madd props to you guy!

  • nice kicks

  • the best shit is the flipping on the string. I went to comps when I was like 12-14 and people would always ask wether I was doing like traditional kama,(gama) or use th strings. I was never into the classic shit. I like the flips n stuff. Nice stuff!

  • does he have the strings on the kamas? just wondering if thats how he managed to swing them towards the end of the video

  • I could barely watch it cause i though he was gunna like sever his leg

  • lol then he spins it around his neck rofl!! lol...

  • Unbelievable.....talk about being one with your weapon.
