  • I am really impressed by your video and the work that went into producing that, it made me miss Okinawa very much. I was there twice for 6 months each time when I was in the Marines around 1988. Thanks for the memories, :)

  • :) nice video!

  • god! i friggen miss Oki!! i was there for 5 years on kadena air base and i miss the hell out of okinawa and the scuba diving is the shit there! i love the karama dives!

  • I AM SO READY TO GET STATIONED THERE! Great video!

  • ooo I love it ,love it ,love it.

    wanna go back there:(

  • yeah! ben harper!

  • Great video. Okinawa is beautiful. If you get the chance you should try to make time to visit Ishigaki island (where I live). It's paradise in Japan.

  • wow SO COOL!!!!!

  • Hahaha great vid Phil&Kristen!

But I do insist you visit Irimote Island, my for a while home. Here there is no buildings, "de-pa-to", vending machines, traffic lights (indeed there is two, always green), traffic jams. Just sea, river and jungle.

    Hug from Okinawa, Iriomote island

  • Great video! I grew up on Okinawa and loved watching your video - it brought back lots of memories, including Tokashiki Island.

    Very creative and entertaining!

  • dude you are much better than like ALL of the people hosting travel shows on tv. i spent some of my childhood here and want to go back but, alas, i am just a poor college student.

  • Thank You , Lovely!

  • That was a fantastic video! I've visited ALL of those places in the video that last time I went to Okinawa in 2001. I was actually born there as a native Okinawan but have been living in Arizona since '96. I'm going back this Summer and I can't wait. Also, I've driven by that tree restaurant so many times while driving through Naha, and now I actually know what's inside haha!

  • i miss oki.

  • oh man it would be great to be stationed in okinowa if i get the chance while im in the marines.

  • There are several more beautiful beaches farther North on the Island. Drive to Ikei Island. Hope you check it out. There is also an incredible water fall at Hiji. Head North on 58 until you see the sign to turn left for the military resort beach and instead turn right and follow the road until you come to the camp ground. When I was there you didn't have to pay to get up there. Now I think there is a small fee. I will be going back to retire in a few years. Maybe I will see you there someday.

  • Make more vidios! That was awsome!

  • @ rebeca

Thanks! I'll have to get back to producing more videos so you have something to watch! :)

  • THAT would be great!!!

  • Yesssssss, more more more :-)

  • Hey, great video. I loved the way that you mixed it up with the drawings etc. Really creative. I live down here on Ishigakijima - 1 hour flight from Naha. I know what you mean about getting in the ocean in the summer being like getting in a bath. Keep the vids coming. I'm going to make some too in the near future.

  • OMG!! this video is AWESOME!!!

thanx!! i must subscribe NOW LOL

  • LoL WTF Rofl you do make it fun to watch

  • great video i am surprise the view of okinawa beach and i have being to a lot of beaches in my years

  • Grew up in Okinawa but now live in Los Angeles. This brings back great memories!

  • i love okinawa ive been to all those places and im going there again this year!

  • Cool video 5 Stars! I would love to travel to Okinawa. That beach looks beautiful. So is Okinawa truley Tropical? That's my question. If it is truley tropical then you should see an abundance of Coco nucifera palms ( Coconut Palms). Were there coconut palms in your travels? Thanks for posting this great vid. Cheers

  • Why don't you find out? Go visit Okinawa. It looks like a tropical paradise to me with white sand beaches and torquoise waters. I'm in love! It reminds me of my last vacation in Laos. But Laos has wild elephants you can ride in the jungle.

  • I was stationed there for 2 years in the Marines, I think it is actually considered sub-tropical. It did get cooler in the winter months. I think the coolest temp I saw was about 55 F which isnt bad but it is constantly windy so it made it feel colder than it actually was. Its nice though, especially if you are in to scuba diving like I am.

  • Wow! I stumbled onto your video, and it was GREAT!

I am now compelled, nay forced to subscribe to your channel and watch the others too...

Thanks for that bit of reality TV (don't have a proper TV, and liking it...)

  • Man, what an awesome place. I really want to go to Japan and watching this just makes me want to go even more! Especially to Okinawa, that's the first place I want to see!

I envy you so much for being able to live there. Lucky!! I hope one day I can as well ^^

  • HAhaha!! i wanna go to japan too!!! i haven't gone back since almost 6 years now. Plus, i really like your videos they're hilarious. Ever tried suggesting to be a vacation host guide for a t.v. show?

  • The answer to "Tadaima!" is

    "Okaeri!" not "Itterasshai"

    anyway ti's nice video. :)

  • We know, we know. And thanks. :-)

  • we actually had attempted to sleep on the observation point where you took some footage from, and were forced to the beach at, and i kid you not, about 3:30 am, where we experience the same distant storm and insanely beautiful skys! thank you for sharing this video. it really puts it into perspective for me! great quality filming and production as well. i'm very interested to hear more stories and see more video blogs about your adventures! cheers.

  • wow, this video is phenomenal! i actually spent this past summer on okinawa, and had literally the same EXACT experiences as you did. it's crazy. the robots, tree resteraunt (although we went for dinner and found the view to be gorgeous), and tokashiki island weekend!

  • Great video haven't been to Oki since 97 but it brought back great memories. I also love the club life that Oki offers.

  • I think you are a fabulous film maker. Thanks !!!

  • I miss home immensely and enjoyed the video.. I did want to point out that "Okairi nasai" means welcome home..and "Itterashai" is said when someone is leaving..

  • Yeah, we made a mistake. I didn't realize until after I'd finished editing. I'm too lazy to go back and fix it now!

  • That was awesome! My fiance and I are moving to Okinawa in March to Kadena AF base! I am so excited!!

  • nice vid

i realy want too see part2?

  • Well done!! I was in Okinawa for eight years during the late 80's and early 90's. It was an incredible nonstop adventure. There was also a much better exchange rate then. That was great because I was paid in U.S. dollars and could easily buy anything I wanted. Did I actually see a monorail in this video? It would be cool to go back there and ride it.

  • Oh Phil, we miss you and really, really enjoy seeing your updates. When will we get to see the next one?

    Lots of love, Anna

  • Love this! Thanks for sharing. We're thinking of moving to Okinawa so this was GREAT!

  • Luv yer work flipper!! Miss you heaps too.... cP

  • Haha this is the best Japan video I've seen by you guys yet. You had a lot of fun with this one. There's *one* minor mistake (that i only noticed cause I'm a nerd), but I'll let you watch and rewatch over and over trying to figure out what it is.
