OKAY, 2 the guy who got somewhat OFF-topic back there & said the LGBT community wants/demands SPECIAL rights; vis-a-vis lifestyle CHOICE, BULL-crap!!! The now landmark case decided by the SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES, Christian Legal Society v. Martinez, 2010, indicated that the Court DOES NOT, repeat DOES NOT, distinguish between STATUS and CONDUCT (any longer). And, they did use those very words..."status" and "conduct" in the ruling. So, ***TOUGH COOKIES***, anti-gay rights folks!!!
"The very PURPOSE of a Bill of Rights was to REMOVE certain subjects from the vicissitudes of political controversy, and to establish them as legal principles to be applied by the COURTS. One's right to life, liberty, [and] property...and other fundamental rights...are NOT subject to [a] vote; they depend on the outcome of NO election." WEST VIRGINIA BOARD OF EDUCATION V. BARNETTE, 1947
(***LANDMARK CASE IN FEDERAL CONSTITUTIONAL LAW***) U go, Brown Brother, baby, U go! U R doing SO well!!!
ODD that this would come up in BrownBrother27's videos, of all places, considering what the vast majority of his videos address (so far). I am going 2 QUOTE a key section of the SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES ruling in WEST VIRGINIA BOARD OF EDUCATION V. BARNETTE, 1947, that was actually placed in-2 the Honorable VAUGHN R. WALKER'S ruling on Proposition 8(!) But THIS case involved whether or not that Board of Education could "force" a student 2 say the Pledge of Allegiance along with others.
We did the pledge in elementary, then didn't in middle school, until Hurricane Katria, then for some reason we started again. Then we didn't in high school.
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands: one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
The pledge is a fascist idea. The government is supposed to serve the people. We aren't here to pledge our "allegiance" to the government. That's an evil idea. It's the kind of thing they might have done in Nazi Germany in the 1930's.
There are many reasons to refuse the pledge including the wars of aggression in Iraq and Afghanistan, the bailout of the banks, the idea of "insurance mandates" and the idea that it's OK for some people to profit from the ignorance of others.
We certainly have a ways to go when it comes to attaining equal rights in the US, but is boycotting the Pledge of Allegiance really something constructive? With all due respect to your POV, we have many rights here that LGBTs around much of the world can only dream of. Lets fight for our rights, but lets do so with the realization that we live in a nation where (as long as it might take us) we have the RIGHT to petition our govt for our rights thanks to the Constitution of the United States.
I'm a LGBT supporter indeed and I know your frustration. Prop 8 was super depressing, as well as a copy-cat law that also passed here in AZ banning same-sex marriages so we're in the same boat. I don't think we're fighting for "special rights", we're actually just fighting for what everyone else has.
I completely agree. I'm british so I of course have never had to recite the pledge but I support anyone who decides not to for equal human rights 100%

I understand your point of view and I will agree, LGBT Americans have more rights than most around the world.
Pardon my curiousity, are you a supporter for LGBT equality? Why/why not?
Of course, I'm a supporter obviously. Even if I was straight, I'd still be for LGBT equality.
