If this was today, the race would have been started behind safetycar because it was "too wet" and everytime someone hit the barrier a safetycar would have restarted the race after a red flag...
think of it. In 1996, Ligier (to be Prost) had Honda engines. Prost took the JS43 chassis and Honda engines in 1997, and performed quite well. But when they changed to Peugout engines, they sucked. :/
thank you so much for this race. You brought me back such happy memories. In 1996 I started to follow F1 seriously and this was one crazy, crazy race...
This was the best race in Monaco at all time and care but the most exciting in the history of F1, frustration for some, joy for others ..! We see an E. Irvine that although he took the blue flag will never step a sedi D. Coulthard, J. Alessi a victory to boot out the window, and an O. Panis who won his only race in the 1st and the F1 ..! I remember when I saw her live, full emocion ..! .. Congratulations on this material!
No way should it have been stopped. In my opinion, I have seen worse races weather-wise, such as Nurburgring 07 and China 09, but they werent stopped, so I do not see why this shouldve been stopped. Besides, if it had been stopped, would Panis have won? I would rather have seen him get a win that someone who wins regularly.
rossett once didnt race cos he had a headache fuckin ell mansell had a virus and was sick n bad in indycars and he raced and even won!! rossett wat a wuss
Ricardo Rosset. What a joke. Remember Spa 1998 when the big wreck happened? There was a pile of cars in the middle of the track and for some reason it made sense in Rosset's brain to try to go THROUGH the pile. Hard to believe every time I see it.
its like F1 on ice...awesome!

This was one of Rosset's better races!
Good video. Ben Edwards is great, the BBC really should've hired him instead of Legard.

Look at the steering of Irvine at Loews hairpin.
Just before the corner placing his left hand on top of the steeringwheel to make that armcrossing turn :)

I didn't think Marlboro sponsored Mclaren and Ferrari. Only one or the other
EddieVanAidan 2 years ago
I think Marlboro sponsored a lot of teams in the mid-90s.
schopfheim91 2 years ago 6
@schopfheim91 They only sponsored McLaren & Ferrari in a big way in '6. Any other sponsorship was mainly through sponsoring individual drivers
SuperPrivate2011 5 months ago
They sponsored both. As Mild Seven did, who sponsred Benetton and Tyrrell.
1996 was the last season for McLaren in Marlboro colors, before they switched to West in 1997.

Thats right!
Nürburgring was a lot more bad to drive!
It´s not even raining there so they didn´t ever have to stop!
