I've had this a year. It's not bad, a little grainy with the zoom.

I have to object to the 'rugged' part though. Mine broke it's screen really easily, so for the last 6 months I've been shooting blind.

I found the value pack a year ago at Walmart in Monroe Ga, for $50.

I've been using this camera for little over a month, it's very good in well lit buildings and outdoors. Is well worth the money if you can find the value pack, just don't expect a studio quality camera though. :-/

Thanks for the review. I just picked this up new for $49.99 (no tax) and it was bundled with a 2GB SD card, 4 rechargeable "AA" batteries and a 4 battery charger, mini tripod, and a case. Plus it also has SD and component cables [HD]. I'm not sure if those are included with the standard edition packaging, but I am assuming they are.

Overall it seemed like a good deal. I will give it a try later today. I just hope my 8GB SDHC Micro + adapter is fast enough to keep up with it. It's a Class4.

download "any video converter" (its free online) and convert the MOV files to AVI files. Then the AVI files can be used in WMM.

thanks buddy, but i already did that like forever ago i LOVE it! i brought my dxg back for a polaroid 1080p an i use anyvideo converter which is wierd because WMM wont read AVI cause thats what it uses

i didnt like it very much, either, the hd sucks its only 720p, youre much better off getting a polaroid dvg 1080p for $120 rather than the $100 DXG 567v. really high quality camera

you can't edit with the camera itself. you'll need to drag the video file onto your computer and use a video editing program like adobe premier, imovie, or final cut pro.

sorry to hear about the troubles with the cam. we never had any problems with the audio in our use of the camera. you can even hear how the audio comes out for us in some of our videos. without more info it's tough to diagnose the problem. good luck though!

hey, you think you could help me out here? i have this camera, and its seems to have an issue. the issue is that when i turn on the camera, the whole entire top part of the screen has a different color than it should have. also, it gives me no directions on how to edit, so i really dont know how to edit my videos. so lastly, i would like to end this cooment with a comment on this camera. to be as candid as my language will allow, this camera is indeed proving to be quite inferior.

I got this camera for Christmas and it works great. The 720p resolution really stands out and it works well for a digital camera. The battery life is horrible for AA batteries but I can make the nH batteries that came with it last a good amount of time. My suggestion is buy a tripod or two. I was able to get two good ones (small sized) for less than $30.

But I hate this beeping sound! @_@

we made a mistake up above - the batteries you should use are the lithium ion ones, NOT the procells. we shot hours and hours of video on the li-ion batteries before the camera even ate up one battery bar on the screen. true, the dxg will absolutely devour normal AAs, but with the right ones, you'll be shooting all day long.

the camera only holds an 8 gig max(not "16 gig")card...according to the print in the manual. Not that it matters to me anymore. Not a bad camera just NOT the best for uploaders who want WMM capabilities easily and not have to change batteries every time you turn around.

Ha!!!! The "beep" is not this cameras problem. In even a low decible situation the beep will be appreciated as a signal to you that you are recording....that is if your batteries don't go dead first! tip: Velcro some batteries to your forehead so you can reload the camera faster when you need to. I am NOT exagerating on how this thing eats batteries. WOW!!!

I hate to have to add: I had a question and called "DXG USA". I got 'Carlos" who interupted most every sentence I started; finishing it with an assumption and then talking to me as if I was dumb for 'my' assumption(!) I'm simply not stupid and he seemed to want me to be? And responded to me as if I was. If you want a cust. service rep who actually waits to hear your real question,it'S not at DXG USA in my experience. What a hassle just trying to ask that guy a couple simple questions!!!!

at first look, given features it looks like the DXG is a better deal than the Flip. But when you take all into account(battery life and OMG is it TERRIBLE on the DXG!!)I even surprised myself that EVEN with the DXG's apparent 'betterness'(accessories and camera build)I actually came away having to admit that the Flip is a more user friendly camera. Audio is not better than the Flip Ultra and the video(WHY did they choose .mov!!??)is not as easy to load and limits WMM users greatly. REFUND!!!

I notice that the standard quality of your video post is quite poor. I uploaded a standard quality(640 by 480)vid using the rapid uploader(H.624 which is 'supposed to be the best for youtube')provided with DXG and the quality was quite noticably worse than what the Flip Ultra gave. Flip interfaces easier with windows(.avi)for windows movie maker users. Otherwise...prepare to waste more time converting from the DXG .mov default. Bleh. Also(I own BOTH) the Flip is FAR batter in low light.

Eats batteries like a MOFO! I like this camera better than Flip(mem card slot--lots of accessories---better zoom & view screen than Flip--THREE vid res modes; even a picture mode). BUT it is .mov(nice for it's default to H.624 - excellent for youtube)but is a bitch if you want to use Windows Movie maker! You will have to convert all your vid files(bleh!). Flip gets WAY better battery life and meshes(.avi)easy with windows. DXG IS a better camera but Flip IS the more user/upload friendly of.

regular AAs will absolutely work. we use the duracel procell batteries - they're more expensive, but they last MUCH longer. good luck!
