There's no reason not to be tapping our abundant oil and gas reserves. The only real option, in some cases, might be hydroelectric or nuclear power. Most other stuff, at least for right now, is pie in the sky. Of course the enviormentalists are going to be whining about nuclear power ( I bet Germany has plenty of nuclear power plants.)

No you couldnt be more wrong, germany has HUGE amounts of solar energy. France has huge amounts of nuclear, solar is only a pipe dream because governments subsides make it that way. Also despite the freemarket theory business is VERY slow & if not impossible to get ALL the power companies to make a new grid that is needed, witch YES would have a big up costs front but so did the up cost front of our current grid & that worked out pretty didnt it? The biggest thing is going from AC back DC.
